Description
P. BROWN SHOWER BATH ATTACHMENT Filed Feb. 7, 1955 2 Sheets-Sheet l Inventor Attomey Gun 15, 1935. P BROWN SHOWER BATH ATTACHMENT Filed Feb. 7, 1935 2 Sheets-Sheet 2 Attm-ney Patented Oct. 15, 1935 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 1 Claim.
The present invention relates to a shower bath attachment particularly designed so that the same may be used in conjunction with an ordinary bathtub.
5 The prime object of the invention resides in the provision of an attachment which may be easily mounted in place or dismounted and which is adjustable as to height.
A further important object of the invention re- 10 sides in the provision of a shower bath attachment of this nature which is exceedingly simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, durable, thoroughly eificient and reliable in use and otherwise well adapted to thepurpose for which it is 15 designed.
With the above and numerous other objects in view as will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, and in the combination and arrange- 20 ment of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a vertical longitudinal section through a bathtub showing my attachment in 5 place.
Figure 2 is a fragmentary top plan view thereof.
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken substantially on the line 3-3 of Figure 1.
Figure 4 is a detail sectional view showing the bracket.
Figure 5 is a perspective view of the upper portion of the attachment.
Referring to the drawings in detail, it will be seen that the numeral 5 denotes a somewhat Z- 35 shaped bracket arm including arms a and b extending in opposite directions at right angle from an intermediate arm c. The terminal of the arm 17 has a hook cl to engage on the one spigot while the arm extends over the bridges of the mixer.
o The terminal of the arm a is in the form of a frusto-conical member E.
Two sections 01 piping 6 and I are coupled together as at 8. The section 6 is adapted to extend through the frusto-conical member E and held in any suitable adjusted position by a wedge 9, preferably anchored on the member E by a chain It]. A top section comprises a vertical portion H and I 5 horizontal portions I2, I 4 and I5 forming an incomplete rectangle in the same plane with the end closed and the bottoms of the arms l2, l4 and I5 are perforated as indicated at IS in Figure 3. The plane in which the arms l2, l4 and I5 are located 10 is substantially at right angles to the portion II.
If desired, a set screw 3 may be used in connection with the member E in conjunction with the wedge I for holding the piping formed by members 6, 7 and H. The member II is coupled as at I9 with the section I.
It is thought that the construction, utility and advantages of this invention will now be quite apparent to those skilled in this art without a more detailed description.
The present embodiment of the invention has been described in considerable detail merely for the purposes of exemplification since in actual practice it attains the features of advantage enumerated as desirable in the statement of the g5 invention and the above description.
It will be apparent that changes in the details of construction, and in the combination and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed or sacrificing any of its advantages.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
In an attachment of the class described, a bracket having a irusto-conical member, a shower including a pipe extending through the irustoconical member, and a wedge for insertion in said member to hold said pipe in different adjusted positions.
PERCY BROWN.
