Abstract
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a suitcase, and more particularly to a suitcase with a protective cover.
- 2. Description of the Prior Art
- Referring to
FIG. 15 , a conventional suitcase comprises amain body 9. Themain body 9 has twosemi-sphere cases 91. When themain body 9 is closed, the twosemi-sphere cases 91 together up so that a receiving room is defined in themain body 9 for receiving objects. In addition, the design of the suitcase should be an important factor if the user like it and buy it. - However, when the suitcase is transported and is knocked by another object, the
semi-sphere cases 91 would be damaged, so that the suitcase would not be always in good shape. - The present invention is, therefore, arisen to obviate or at least mitigate the above mentioned disadvantages.
- An object of the present invention is to provide an improved suitcase. To achieve the above and other objects, a suitcase with a protective cover comprises a main body having two semi-sphere cases, two adaptors respectively mounted fixedly around the corresponding sides of the two semi-sphere cases, a close space formed by the two semi-sphere cases, the adaptors having at least one first adapting portion mounted along the locations around which each of the adaptors is mounted, two cover bodies, each of the cover bodies has an opening, a concave portion recessed from the opening, a positioning rim mounted around the side of the opening, the concave portion having depth being capable of having the cover bodies cover the semi-sphere cases, at least one second adapting portion mounted along the locations around which each of the positioning rims is mounted, each cover body fixed on each corresponding semi-spheres case via the connection of the at least one first adapting portion and the at least one second adapting portion. Wherein, each of the adapting portions is defined as a rim body which is hard; the two rim bodies are attached against each other and connected on junction; the two semi-sphere cases are fixed by buckles; the at least one first adapting portion is an insertion groove exposed near the location at the connection described above; the insertion groove encircles the rim body; the at least one second adapting portion is defined as a gib, and the gib is inserted into the corresponding insertion groove so that the gib is fixed with the cover body by a root; the root is adhered or hot melted onto the cover bodies, and a connection segment is mounted between the root and the gib; the root is sewed on the cover body, and a stitch (A) is formed on the root; a connection segment is mounted between the root and the gib; an eaves portion is formed by extending one end of the root toward the connection segment; the eaves portion is capable of hiding the stitch (A); the root is sewed on the cover body, and a stitch (B) is formed on the root; a connection segment is mounted between the root and the gib;
- the connection segment extends from one end of the root toward the gib, whereby the connection part is configured to hide the stitch (B); the two adaptors are defined as two half parts of a zip fastener respectively; the two half parts are engaged with each other and fixed when the two semi-sphere cases are closed; the at least one first adapting portion is defined as a first velcro portion mounted at each half part near the location at the connection described above; the first velcro portion is mounted around the half part; the at least one second adapting portions is defined as a positioning rim; a second velcro portion corresponding to the first velcro portion is mounted on the inner side of the positioning rim, and the positioning rim is fixed with the cover body through a root; the root is adhered on the cover body; the positioning rim has an eaves portion; the eaves portion is formed by extending from the second velcro portion toward the root, whereby the eaves portion is configured to hide a stitch (C) between the half parts and the semi-sphere cases; the root is sewed on each corresponding cover body, and a stitch (D) is formed on the root; the positioning rim has an eaves portion formed by extending from the end of the root toward the second velcro portion; an extending part is protruding horizontally from one end of the eaves portion and toward the root; the second velcro portion is mounted on the bottom surface of the extending part, whereby the eaves portion is configured to hide the stitch (D) between the root and the cover body, and the stitch (C) between the half parts of the zip and the semi-sphere cases; the root is sewed on the cover body, and a stitch (E) is formed on the root; the positioning rim has an eaves portion formed by extending from the end of the root toward the second velcro portion; an extending part extends horizontally from the second velcro portion toward the root; the second velcro portion is mounted on the bottom surface of the extending part, whereby the eaves portion is configured to hide the stitch (E) between the root and the cover body, and the stitch (C) between the half part of the zip and the semi-sphere case; the two adaptors are defined as the half parts of a zip fastener respectively; the two half parts is engaged with each other and fixed on junction of the two semi-sphere cases; the at least one first adapting portion is defined as a insertion groove exposed near the location at the connection between the half parts; the insertion groove encircles the rim bodies; the at least one second adapting portion is defined as a gib, and the gib is fixed with the cover body by a root; the root is adhered on the cover body and has a connection segment mounted between the root and the gib; the root is sewed on the cover body and has a connection segment mounted between the root and the gib; the stitch (A) is formed on the root; an eaves portion is formed by extending from one end of the root toward the connection segment, whereby the eaves portion is configured to hide the stitch (A); the root is sewed on the cover bodies and has a connection segment mounted between the root and the gib; the stitch (B) is formed on the root; the connection segment is extending from one end of the root toward the gib, whereby the connection segment is configured to hide the stitch (B); each of the cover bodies has a front portion at one end thereof opposite to the opening; the front portion is smooth; each of the cover bodies has a pattern portion; the pattern portion is assembled on the cover body; the cover bodies are made of one selected from the group consisting of hard material and soft material; the cover bodies are made of one selected from the group consisting of transparent material and opaque material.

FIG. 1 , a first embodiment of the present invention is described as follows. A suitcase with a protective cover in accordance with the present invention comprises amain body 1 and two protective members. The two protective members are defined as twocover bodies 2 in the first embodiment. The twocover bodies 2 are both non-transparent. Themain body 1 has twosemi-sphere cases 11. Eachsemi-sphere case 11 has an adaptor mounted around an inner edge thereof, so that the adaptor of onesemi-sphere case 11 corresponds to the adaptor of anothersemi-sphere case 11. When themain body 1 is closed, the adaptor of onesemi-sphere case 11 abuts against the adaptor of anothersemi-sphere case 11 so that a receiving room is defined in themain body 1. The adaptor has at least one first adapting portion defined along an extending path thereof. - Referring to
FIG. 2 , the adaptor is defined as arim body 3. Therim body 3 is made of a hard material, such as an aluminum material in this embodiment. Eachsemi-sphere case 11 and therim body 3 thereof are riveted together. When themain body 1 is closed, therim body 3 of onesemi-sphere case 11 abuts against therim body 3 of anothersemi-sphere case 11. When themain body 1 is closed, the twosemi-sphere cases 11 are fixed to each other via a clasp (not shown). The first adapting portion is defined as aninsertion groove 31. Theinsertion groove 31 is formed near an abutting site between therim body 3 of onesemi-sphere case 11 and therim body 3 of anothersemi-sphere case 11. Theinsertion groove 31 is exposed to the outside relative to the suitcase. Theinsertion groove 31 is formed along an extending path of therim body 3. - Referring to
FIG. 1 , eachcover body 2 is molded via suction molding. Eachcover body 2 has an opening 21 and aconcave portion 23. The opening 21 is formed at one side of eachcover body 2. Theconcave portion 23 is recessed from the opening 21. A depth of theconcave portion 23 is capable of having eachcover body 2 completely cover eachcorresponding semi-sphere case 11. Eachcover body 2 has apositioning rim 4 mounted around one side thereof, so that thepositioning rim 4 is close to the opening 21. Thepositioning rim 4 is made of a soft material such as a rubber material in this embodiment. Thepositioning rim 4 has at least one second adapting portion defined along an extending path thereof. The second adapting portion is integrated with the first adapting portion of eachcorresponding semi-sphere case 11, so that eachcover body 2 not only completely covers eachcorresponding semi-sphere case 11 but also is positioned on eachcorresponding semi-sphere case 11. Eachcover body 2 has afront portion 22 defined at another side thereof, so that thefront portion 22 is opposite to the opening 21. Thefront portion 22 is smooth. Thefront portion 22 has apattern portion 221 defined thereon. - In this embodiment, an outer surface of each
cover body 2 is printed with a pattern or decorative design before molding; thereafter, eachcover body 2 is molded via suction molding; as a result, thepattern portion 221 is defined on the outer surface eachcover body 2. In another embodiment, an inner surface of eachcover body 2 is printed with a pattern or decorative design before molding; thereafter, eachcover body 2 is molded via suction molding; as a result, thepattern portion 221 is defined on the inner surface eachcover body 2. - Referring to
FIG. 3 , the second adapting portion is defined as agib 41. Thegib 41 is inserted into theinsertion groove 31 of each correspondingsemi-sphere case 11. Thegib 41 has aroot 411. Theroot 411 is connected to eachcorresponding cover body 2 so that thegib 41 is fixed to eachcorresponding cover body 2. In this embodiment, theroot 411 is stuck on eachcorresponding cover body 2. In another embodiment, theroot 411 is connected to eachcorresponding cover body 2 via hot-melt process. Thepositioning rim 4 has aconnection segment 412 connected between thegib 41 and theroot 411. - Referring to
FIG. 4 , under this arrangement, when a user wants to assemble the twocover bodies 2 to themain body 1, the user puts eachcover body 2 onto each correspondingsemi-sphere case 11 from theopening 21 so that eachcover body 2 completely covers each correspondingsemi-sphere case 11; thereafter, the user inserts thegib 41 into theinsertion groove 31 of each correspondingsemi-sphere case 11; as a result, eachcover body 2 is fixed on each correspondingsemi-sphere case 11 of themain body 1. - Referring to
FIG. 5 , a second embodiment of the present invention is described as follows (only the differences between the second embodiment and the first embodiment would be described). Eachcover body 2 has apositioning rim 4A mounted around one side thereof. Thepositioning rim 4A has aroot 411A which is sewed on eachcover body 2. Thepositioning rim 4A has aconnection segment 412A connected between agib 41A thereof and theroot 411A. Thegib 41A has aneaves portion 413A extending from a top of theroot 411A toward theconnection segment 412A. Theeaves portion 413A is configured to conceal a sewing site A on theroot 411A. Referring toFIG. 6 , a third embodiment of the present invention is described as follows (only the differences between the third embodiment and said embodiments would be described). Eachcover body 2 has apositioning rim 4B mounted around one side thereof. The positioning rim 4B has aroot 411B which is sewed on eachcover body 2. The positioning rim 4B has aconnection segment 412B connected between agib 41B thereof and theroot 411B. Theconnection segment 412B extends from a top of theroot 411B toward thegib 41B. Theconnection segment 412B conceals a sewing site B on theroot 411B. - Referring to
FIGS. 7-8 , a fourth embodiment of the present invention is described as follows (only the differences between the fourth embodiment and said embodiments would be described). Eachsemi-sphere case 11 has an adaptor mounted around an inner edge thereof. The adaptor has at least one first adapting portion defined along an extending path thereof. The adaptor is defined as ahalf portion 51 of azip 5. When themain body 1 is closed, thehalf portion 51 of onesemi-sphere case 11 is engaged with thehalf portion 51 of anothersemi-sphere case 11 via a plurality of teeth thereof The first adapting portion is defined as afirst velcro portion 511. Thefirst velcro portion 511 is formed near an abutting site between thehalf portion 51 of onesemi-sphere case 11 and thehalf portion 51 of anothersemi-sphere case 11. Thefirst velcro portion 511 is formed along an extending path of thehalf portion 51. Eachcover body 2 has apositioning rim 6 mounted around one side thereof. Thepositioning rim 6 has at least one second adapting portion defined along an extending path thereof. The second adapting portion is defined as asecond velcro portion 61. Thesecond velcro portion 61 located at an inner side of thepositioning rim 6. Thesecond velcro portion 61 is bound on thefirst velcro portion 511 of each correspondingsemi-sphere case 11, so that thepositioning rim 6 is fixed to eachcorresponding cover body 2 via aroot 62 thereof. - Referring to
FIG. 9 , thepositioning rim 6 is fixed to eachcorresponding cover body 2 via aroot 62 thereof Thepositioning rim 6 has aneaves portion 63 extending from thesecond velcro portion 61 toward theroot 62. Theeaves portion 63 is configured to conceal a sewing site C which is defined by the sewing between eachhalf portion 51 and each corresponding semi-sphere case 11 (as the first embodiment). - Referring to
FIG. 10 , a fifth embodiment of the present invention is described as follows (only the differences between the fifth embodiment and said embodiments would be described). Eachcover body 2 has apositioning rim 6A mounted around one side thereof Thepositioning rim 6A has aroot 62A which is sewed on eachcover body 2. Thepositioning rim 6A has aneaves portion 63A. Theeaves portion 63A extends from a top of theroot 62A to asecond velcro portion 61A; thereafter, theeaves portion 63A extends horizontally toward theroot 62A so as to define an extendingportion 621A; as a result, thesecond velcro portion 61A is assembled on a bottom surface of the extendingportion 621A. Theeaves portion 63A is configured to conceal a sewing site (not shown) which is defined by the sewing between eachhalf portion 51 and each correspondingsemi-sphere case 11, and a sewing site D which is defined by the sewing between theroot 62A and eachcorresponding cover body 2. - Referring to
FIG. 11 , a sixth embodiment of the present invention is described as follows (only the differences between the sixth embodiment and said embodiments would be described). Eachcover body 2 has apositioning rim 6B mounted around one side thereof. The positioning rim 6B has aroot 62B which is sewed on eachcover body 2. The positioning rim 6B has aneaves portion 63B. Theeaves portion 63B extends from a top of theroot 62B toward asecond velcro portion 61B. An extendingportion 621 B is horizontally extended form a bottom of theroot 62B to thesecond velcro portion 61B; as a result, thesecond velcro portion 61B is assembled on a bottom surface of the extendingportion 621B. Theeaves portion 63B is configured to conceal a sewing site (not shown) which is defined by the sewing between eachhalf portion 51 and each correspondingsemi-sphere case 11, and a sewing site E which is defined by the sewing between theroot 62B and eachcorresponding cover body 2. - Referring to
FIG. 12 , a seventh embodiment of the present invention is described as follows (only the differences between the seventh embodiment and said embodiments would be described). Eachsemi-sphere case 11 has an adaptor mounted around an inner edge thereof. The adaptor has at least one first adapting portion defined along an extending path thereof. The adaptor is defined as ahalf portion 71 of azip 7. When themain body 1 is closed, thehalf portion 71 of onesemi-sphere case 11 is engaged with thehalf portion 71 of anothersemi-sphere case 11 via a plurality of teeth thereof. The first adapting portion is defined as an insertion groove 72. The insertion groove 72 is formed near an abutting site between thehalf portion 71 of onesemi-sphere case 11 and thehalf portion 71 of anothersemi-sphere case 11. The insertion groove 72 is formed along an extending path of thehalf portion 71. The insertion groove 72 is exposed to the outside relative to the suitcase. Eachcover body 2 has at least one second adapting portion (not shown). The second adapting portion is defined as a gib (not shown). The gib is illustrated as that of several of said embodiments. - The cover bodies are made of plastic film in another embodiment (not shown) and are fixed to the main body as said embodiments. Referring to
FIGS. 13-14 , an eighth embodiment of the present invention is described as follows (only the differences between the eighth embodiment and said embodiments would be described). Aplate member 2B is flexed so as to define acover body 2A. Thecover body 2A is made of a transparent material. Thecover body 2A has a plurality of assemblingspaces 21A. Each assemblingspace 21A is formed at each corresponding corner of thecover body 2A. After definingcover body 2A, aprotective corner member 22A is assembled at each assemblingspace 21A. Thepositioning rim 4 is mounted around thecover body 2A as several of said embodiments. Apattern sticker 23A is laid on an inner surface of thecover body 2A. Thecover body 2A is fixed to each correspondingsemi-sphere case 11 as several of said embodiments. - All in all, the present invention has several advantages as follows.
- First, when the suitcase is transported and is knocked by another object, each cover body can protect the suitcase from being damaged, so that the suitcase would be always in good shape.
- Second, each cover body can be made of cheap material so that the user can replace it with a new one without the least hesitation.
- Third, there is a wide choice of patterns for the cover body. Therefore, the user can replace the cover body with another one with another pattern when the user dislikes the pattern of the cover body.
- Although particular embodiments of the invention have been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Accordingly, the invention is not to be limited except as by the appended claims.
