Abstract

A suitcase includes a case body having a housing and a protective cover covering the housing of the case body. The protective cover has a plurality of air cushions abutting the housing. Thus, the protective cover entirely covers the housing to protect the housing so as to prevent the housing from being scratched, worn or broken due to hit or collision by a foreign object. In addition, the air cushions are located between the protective cover and the housing so that when the protective cover is subjected to an external force, the air cushions of the protective cover provide an elastic buffering effect to the housing of the case body so as to protect the housing of the case body.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a suitcase or luggage to receive personal articles and, more particularly, to a suitcase that is movable.
  • 2. Description of the Related Art
  • A conventional suitcase comprises a housing, a grip portion secured on the top of the housing, a pull handle retractably mounted on the top of the housing, and a plurality of castors mounted on the bottom of the housing. However, when the housing is hit by a solid foreign object, the housing is easily scratched, worn or broken due to the hit or collision by the foreign object.
  • BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • In accordance with the present invention, there is provided a suitcase, comprising a case body having a housing and a protective cover covering an outer periphery of the housing of the case body.
  • The protective cover has an inner face provided with a plurality of air cushions abutting the housing of the case body so that the air cushions are located between the protective cover and the housing of the case body.
  • The case body has a grip portion secured on a top of the housing. The protective cover has a top formed with an opening to allow passage of the grip portion of the case body so that the grip portion of the case body protrudes outward from the opening of the protective cover.
  • The case body has a pull handle retractably mounted on the top of the housing. The top of the protective cover is provided with a zipper to cover the pull handle of the case body so that the pull handle of the case body is pulled outward from the zipper of the protective cover when the zipper of the protective cover is opened.
  • The case body has a first zipper mounted on the outer periphery of the housing. The protective cover has a periphery provided with a second zipper releasably combined with the first zipper of the case body to attach the protective cover to the housing of the case body.
  • The air cushions of the protective cover are spaced from each other so that when the air cushions of the protective cover are subjected to hit or collision of an external force, the air cushions of the protective cover provide an elastic buffering effect.
  • The primary objective of the present invention is to provide a suitcase having a shock absorbing function.
  • According to the primary advantage of the present invention, the protective cover entirely covers the housing of the case body to protect the housing of the case body so as to prevent the housing of the case body from being scratched, worn or broken due to hit or collision by a foreign object.
  • According to another advantage of the present invention, the air cushions are located between the protective cover and the housing of the case body so that when the protective cover is subjected to an external force, the air cushions of the protective cover provide an elastic buffering effect to the housing of the case body so as to protect the housing of the case body exactly and smoothly.
  • Further benefits and advantages of the present invention will become apparent after a careful reading of the detailed description with appropriate reference to the accompanying drawings.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)
  • FIG. 1 is a perspective view of a suitcase in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention.

  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • Referring to the drawings and initially to FIGS. 1-6, a suitcase in accordance with the preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a case body 10 having a housing 11 and a protective cover 20 covering an outer periphery of the housing 11 of the case body 10.
  • The case body 10 has a grip portion 13 secured on the top of the housing 11. The case body 10 has a pull handle 14 retractably mounted on the top of the housing 11. The case body 10 has a first zipper 12 mounted on the outer periphery of the housing 11. The housing 11 of the case body 10 is fully covered by and hidden in the protective cover 20.
  • The protective cover 20 is made of a thin sheet plate. The protective cover 20 has an inner face provided with a plurality of air cushions 21 abutting the housing 11 of the case body 10 so that the air cushions 21 are located between the protective cover 20 and the housing 11 of the case body 10. The air cushions 21 of the protective cover 20 are spaced from each other so that when the air cushions 21 of the protective cover 20 are subjected to hit or collision of an external force, the air cushions 21 of the protective cover 20 provide an elastic buffering effect. The protective cover 20 has a top formed with an opening 23 to allow passage of the grip portion 13 of the case body 10 so that the grip portion 13 of the case body 10 protrudes outward from the opening 23 of the protective cover 20. The top of the protective cover 20 is provided with a zipper 24 to cover the pull handle 14 of the case body 10 so that the pull handle 14 of the case body 10 is pulled outward from the zipper 24 of the protective cover 20 when the zipper 24 of the protective cover 20 is opened. The protective cover 20 has a periphery provided with a second zipper 22 releasably combined with the first zipper 12 of the case body 10 to attach the protective cover 20 to the housing 11 of the case body 10.
  • Referring to FIGS. 7-9, the protective cover 20 is made of a thin sheet plate which is cut and bent to form the protective cover 20 which has a hollow inside.
  • Referring to FIG. 10, the pull handle 14 of the case body 10 can be pulled outward from the zipper 24 of the protective cover 20 when the zipper 24 of the protective cover 20 is opened.
  • Referring to FIGS. 11 and 12, the protective cover 20 covers the housing 11 of the case body 10 to protect the housing 11 of the case body 10 so as to prevent the housing 11 of the case body 10 from being scratched, worn or broken due to hit or collision by a foreign object. In addition, the air cushions 21 are located between the protective cover 20 and the housing 11 of the case body 10 so that when the protective cover 20 is subjected to hit or collision by an external force, the air cushions 21 of the protective cover 20 provide an elastic buffering effect to the housing 11 of the case body 10 so as to protect the housing 11 of the case body 10 efficiently.
  • Accordingly, the protective cover 20 entirely covers the housing 11 of the case body 10 to protect the housing 11 of the case body 10 so as to prevent the housing 11 of the case body 10 from being scratched, worn or broken due to hit or collision by a foreign object. In addition, the air cushions 21 are located between the protective cover 20 and the housing 11 of the case body 10 so that when the protective cover 20 is subjected to an external force, the air cushions 21 of the protective cover 20 provide an elastic buffering effect to the housing 11 of the case body 10 so as to protect the housing 11 of the case body 10 exactly and smoothly.
  • Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment(s) as mentioned above, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the scope of the present invention. It is, therefore, contemplated that the appended claim or claims will cover such modifications and variations that fall within the true scope of the invention.
