4 Claims. (Cl. 132-46) This invention relates to improvements in a hair bandeau of the type worn by women to hold their hair in place, and for the purpose of ornamentation.

The primary object of the invention is to provide a hair bandeau of this character comprising a longitudinally curved band of resilient mate rial open at its ends and having an elastic cord secured to the ends for the purpose of holding the band securely in position in the hair.

A further object is to provide means for securely fastening the ends of the elastic cord to The band may be composed of any suitable resilient material, preferably a thermo-plastic material such as celluloid acetate or the like, and manufactured by any known method. The outer face of the band may be ornamented by pressin a design therein, or in other ways.

The ends of an elastic cord II are fastened, in any suitable manner, to the ends of the arcuate band in. If desired, the ends of the elastic cord may be knotted,as at l2, and the knots seated in sockets ll formed in the centers of the shallow depressions I: at each end of the band. A fastener l5, made of metal or other suitable material, may be employed to permanently fasten the ends of the elastic cord to the ends of the band.

In the accompanying drawing, the fastener I5 is shown in the form of a disc or'cap which is secured over the ends I! of the elastic cord to hold them in place. On referring to Fig. 3, it willbeseenthattheouter faceofthediscor cap it is substantially flush with the inner surface of the ends of the band II.

The band is worn in the usual manner and the elastic cord is applied over the back of the head, and may be concealed in the hair, so as to hold the band in place on the head.

From the foregoing, the structure, operation 5 and advantages of my invention will be appar-. cut to those skilled in the art without further description, and it is to be understood that various changes in details of construction may be made within the spirit and scope of the invention.

What I claim is:

1. A hair bandeau comprising an arcuateshaped ornamental band of resilient thermoplastic material adapted to be worn in the hair, and an elastic cord having its ends fastened to the ends of the band to provide self adjusting means for holding the band securely in place on heads of different sizes.

A hair bandeau comprising a substantially circular band of resilient material open at its ends, a recessin the inner surface of each end of the band, an elastic cord having its ends disposed in said recesses, and means for fastening the ends of the elastic cord in said recesses, said 26 hair bandeau being self-adjustable to diiferent head sizes. o

A hair bandeau comprising a substantially circular band of resilient material openat its ends, a recess in the inner surface of each end 30 of the band, an elastic cord having its ends disposed in said recesses, and a cap fastened over each recess tc permanently secure the ends of the elastic cord to the ends of the band.

4. A hair bandeau comprising a substantially circular band of resilient material open at its ends, a recess in the inner surface of each end of the band, an elastic cordhaving a knot at each end, saidknots being disposed in the recesses, and a cap fastened over each recess to 40 secure the ends of the elastic cord in place there- 'in, said caps having their outer faces substantiaily'flusli with the inner surfaces of the ends of the band. 1
