Abstract

A backpack bag for food items comprising: a top flap, where said top flap provides a means to close the bag; interchangeable side panels; a back panel, where said back panel includes a pair of shoulder straps, where each panel includes insulated materials to limit heat transfer between the interior and exterior of the bag; and a means to adjust the length of the shoulder straps. In one exemplary embodiment, the means to adjust the length includes adjustable buckles. The side panels may include a mesh net that provides a means to store additional items. In another exemplary embodiment, the side panels may include a slot for the storage of a beverage bottle.

This application claims priority to U.S. Provisional Application Ser. No. 61/296,885 filed on Jan. 20, 2010.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

1. Field of Invention
The present invention relates to a lunch pack bag that may be worn in a backpack manner over the shoulders.
2. Description of Related Art
Backpacks and similar storage bags may be used to transport books, supplies, utensils, gym/sport equipment, food or other portable items. Many bags of this nature are used by individuals while traveling. Backpacks are normally made of a flexible material that provides a means for storage of items and may include handles or straps for carrying purposes. Straps may be provided so that the backpacks may be holstered upon an individual's shoulders, around their hips or across their neck and shoulder area.
The prior art includes a number of flexible backpack-transporting bags. One example includes U.S. Pat. No. 5,797,529 which discloses a backpack that's convertible between a tote bag or a fanny pack where the backpack includes parallel front and rear panels each having upper and lower edges where the bag is convertible into several types of bags with different capacities. Another example of a backpack includes U.S. Patent Application No. 20070228091, which discloses a backpack and shoulder straps which are separate and interchangeable items to allow the user to customize the backpack to accommodate a particular style. Although the prior art related to backpacks and storage bags is well populated with various designs and structures there remains a need for convenient bags that may be utilized to store and access food for traveling purposes.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a backpack bag for food items comprising: a top flap, where said top flap provides a means to close the bag; interchangeable side panels; a back panel, where said back panel includes a pair of shoulder straps, where each panel includes insulated materials to limit heat transfer between the interior and exterior of the bag; and a means to adjust the length of the shoulder straps. In one exemplary embodiment, the means to adjust the length includes adjustable buckles. The side panels may include a mesh net that provides a means to store additional items. In another exemplary embodiment, the side panels may include a slot for the storage of a beverage bottle.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The present invention relates to a lunch pack bag that may be used to store and access food or other items where the lunch pack bag may be conveniently adjusted and worn over the shoulders of the user. The lunch pack bag according to the present invention includes over-the-shoulder straps that are adjustable and may be utilized to secure the lunch pack bag on the back of an individual. The lunch pack bag according to the present invention may include various storage components and a means to store items within the lunch pack bag.
FIG. 1 depicts a prospective view of a Lunch Pack Bag 100 according to the present invention. The lunch pack bag 100 includes a Top Flap 21, Front Panel 20 a and Side Panel 20 b. Although not shown an additional side panel is provided on the opposite side of the Lunch Pack Bag 100 that complements the opposing Side Panel 20 b. The Interior 22 of the Lunch Pack Bag 100 provides open space for the storage of food or other travel items including drinks, medicine or other beverages. In one particular embodiment, the walls of the Lunch Pack Bag 100 are made of insulated materials in order to maintain food and beverages in either a warm or cool environment. The Lunch Pack Bag 100 includes a Back Panel 20 c as depicted in FIG. 3. Also shown in FIG. 3, Shoulder Straps 32 a, 32 b are provided extending from the top end to the bottom end of the Back Panel 20 c of the lunch pack bag according to the present invention. The Shoulder Straps 32 a, 32 b include Adjustable Buckles 34 a, 34 b that provide a means to adjust the length of the straps in order to secure them to the shoulders of the user. The straps 32 a, 32 b provide mobility and convenient to the Lunch Pack Bag 100 to store food necessities while traveling. In one particular embodiment, the Lunch Pack Bag 100 is rectangular in shape as depicted however it is not therefore limited to a rectangular shape.
Alternative embodiments of the side panels are depicted in FIGS. 2 and 4. The alternative side panel, Side Panel 26, of FIG. 2 includes a mesh net attached thereto. The Mesh Net 24 provides a means to hold additional items such as bags, snacks, napkins, sanitizers or other items for easy access by the user. In the alternative side panel, shown in FIG. 4, Side Panel 26 includes a Slot 28 for the storage of a bottle of water or other beverage that may slide therein.
The Lunch Pack Bag 100 according to the present invention provides a versatile storage bag for storage of food items in order to maintain either a warm or cool environment. Further the Lunch Pack Bag 100 according to the present invention is easily worn over the shoulders of the user and includes adjustable straps for comfortable adjustment thereof.

Claims

1. A backpack bag for food items comprising:

a. a top flap, where said top flap provides a means to close the bag;

b. interchangeable side panels;

c. a back panel, where said back panel includes a pair of shoulder straps, where each panel includes insulated materials to limit heat transfer between the interior and exterior of the bag; and

d. a means to adjust the length of the shoulder straps.

2. The backpack bag according to claim 1, where said means to adjust the length includes adjustable buckles.

3. The backpack bag according to claim 1, where at least one of the side panels includes a mesh net, where said net provides a means to store additional items.

4. The backpack bag according to claim 1, where at least one of the side panels includes a slot for the storage of a beverage bottle.
