Abstract

A carrier is provided for converting from an inline skate sling to a shoe backpack and vice versa. As carrier for skates; the inline skate sling includes a square shaped pouch with one rounded corner at the end of each side of the elongated central sling. When not in use as a sling carrier for skates, the framed compartments for skates are readily converted by user from inline skate sling to shoe backpack turning the pouches into storage units for shoes. There are three buttons positioned on each side of the sling allowing the sling to flip and retract over shoulders into shoe backpack. The shoe backpack is a carrier of shoes and small items used while skating and may be readily converted by a user from the shoe backpack to the inline skate sling used for the particular mode of walking with sling for carrier of skates.

Description

TECHNICAL FIELD AND INDUSTRIAL APPLICABILITY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention provides a bag converting from an inline skate sling and a shoe backpack. The convertible bag provides a compartment for carrying shoes and other small items such as keys money, etc., in a shoe backpack mode, and a compartment for carrying skates, in an inline skate sling mode. The shoe backpack mode and the inline skate sling mode are Independent modes and cannot be implemented concurrently. This application claims priority to provisional application No. 62/124,188.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention made of polyester or other suitable sports durable material provides a convertible inline skate sling as a multi-positional elongated central portion sling bar, ending with soft-sided square shaped pouches with one rounded corner and two separate inside compartments, having an access through the top thereof. The pouches have a drawstring for opening and closing attached toggles on drawstrings for sealing once skates or shoes are Inserted into the two secured sidewall compartments.
The present invention further provides the inline skate sling for carrying skates to be converted to a shoe backpack for carrying shoes and from an inline skate sling and a shoe backpack. The convertible bag of the present Invention provides a compartment for carrying shoes and other small items such as keys money, etc., in a shoe backpack mode, and a compartment for carrying skates while in sling mode. The present invention shoe backpack mode and the inline skate sling mode are independent and cannot be implemented concurrently.
Formerly in past inventions, other resources for maneuvering with large or heavy in-line skates are commonly used, inline skate sling, shoulder straps, skate bags, skate laces, strings or other inconvenient accessories for transporting skates and slinging them over shoulder, always ends up in the hands of the patron while walking, biking, or trying to travel on train, and city streets to parks and desired skate location. Typically, such patrons' clothing end up getting dirty while in transport of exposed skates, and upon arrival patrons require changing out of shoes and into skates. Once skates are on feet, for example, the patron is left with shoes to carry while skating or often required to carry an additional bags to carry shoes while skating that is in no way small or convenient to bring or fit skates while traveling to desired skate location. In the alternative, the skates may be worn all the way to desired skate location while carrying shoes in additional backpack or carrying a bag for small items and using a carabiner to attach shoes to a small bag while skating.
To this end, for example, skate patrons often carry skate bags designed to carry skates while walking and the same extra-large backpack designed big enough to carry skates can hold the shoes while skating. The skate bag includes outer pockets or straps for skates with a large compartment in the middle designed to hold shoes and other items as in, U.S. Pat. No. 5,564,539 1996 Inventor Duensing invented an inline skate tote bag with foldable compartments and detachable straps or handles that could get lost during transport. U.S. Pat. No. 5,826,771 1998 backpack for inline skates, which is not easy to use and is too big and bulky for the skater. As illustrated in the 2013 US D679,089 S Chou Designs patent and similar to the 1950 U.S. Pat. No. 2,672,263 Alber Patent designed to be utilized for skates and shoes while resting on the shoulder or arm of the wearer, which provides a convenient way to transporting skates but however can be inconvenient for skating while carrying shoes.
In the alternative, U.S. Pat. No. 6,371,346 B1 Sharma interchangeable sling waist device or a single inline skate sling U.S. Pat. No. 6,446,849 B1 2002 Scheifer, carrying device may be used to transport skates. Still further, carrying multiple bags is often undesirable for certain individuals since additional bags may make the skater susceptible to robbers or pick-picketers. Similar apparatus have been designed U.S. Pat. No. 6,182,875 B1 for 2001 for carrying inline skates and skateboard, Often additional bags may also be required, such as wallets for carrying money, water bottle or other necessities.
As a result of the foregoing scenarios, these patrons are burdened by carrying skates in their hands, bags for shoes, and a inline skate sling for skates. Further, the undesirability of carrying three items, including each individual skate and bags, is magnified for patrons who require the use of public transportation, such as in crowded areas. In addition many individuals would prefer to be hands-free versus carrying skates and an indiscreet number of bags to maintain a convenience and less weight while skating.
To minimize the number of items carried while skating, for example, to activity centers, individuals often hook shoes outside of smaller bag. This reduces having to skate with a large heavy book bag. However, both skates and bags must be carried home from the activity center by the patron since a smaller shoe backpack is not large enough to allow them to travel hands free. Therefore, a bag is needed to carry shoes while skating to the particular activity sight since a smaller, more discreet hands-free device shoe backpack is generally more desirable for carrying items to skate place. Furthermore a need, therefore, exists for an improved convertible bag for carrying both skates and carrying shoe wear independently from one another.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

An inline skate carrier with elongated sling portion hanging over back of neck and shoulders with two separate framed compartments extends downward in sling position working as a loader and carrier for skates. When not in use as a sling carrier for skates, keys, money, etc., the framed compartments for skates adjust the two pouched size compartments to shoe backpack to carry shoes and small items, keys, money etc.
The two compartments, while in use for carrying skates faces downward. The elongated sling portion position with two pouched bag compartments by waist-side, for carrying skates while walking, flips and retracts both framed structures over the shoulders, connecting the compartments to be used as shoe carriers, converting into a book bag for shoes, while skating.

The present invention provides a convertible inline skate sling FIG. 1, for holding a first set of articles in a first mode of skates as a sling while walking Claim 1, and a second set of articles in a second mode of shoe backpack FIG. 2, for carrying shoes while skating Claim 2. The inline skate sling includes two soft-sided square shaped pouches 5 with one rounded corner on each outer corner of the base of the compartments. In an embodiment, the method further comprises the step of providing a second use as a claim 2 shoe backpack carder by connecting clips 11 located on the top and bottom portion of compartments by user as in FIG. 2. it is, therefore, an object of the present invention to provide a device which is easily convertible from an inline skate sling Claim 1 shoe backpack Claim 2 vice versa.
Another advantage the patron is hands free while walking, traveling to desired skates location, while invention is in use as an inline skate sling carrier Claim 1. Yet another advantage, the same device used for carrying skates can be the same device used for carrying shoes while skating Claim 2 and other small items without a need to travel with two separate carrying devices.
Further, an advantage of the present invention is to provide a product which, while in shoe backpack mode, avoids the requirement to carry a variety of items including, but not limited to, items which are generally footwear. Moreover, an advantage of the present invention is to provide a product which protects contents and patron from getting dirty. And, another advantage of the present invention, is to provide a product which is easy to carry in a shoe backpack mode for carrying shoes as well as in an inline skate sling mode.
Still further, an advantage of the present invention is to provide a product whose design is a lightweight wearable item for skating or walking. Yet another advantage of the present invention is to provide a product which is easy to pack skates, shoes, and other small items, like keys, cell phone, monies. Another advantage of the present invention is to provide a bag which is durable including strong fastening devices and can be utilized as carrier for shoes while skating and for skates while walking.
Further, an advantage of the present invention is to provide an interchangeable product which is convenient for use while skating or walking. A still further advantage of the present invention is to provide a product which minimizes the likelihood of theft or robbery of the product, its components, and its contents. Additional features and advantages of the present invention are described in, and will be apparent from, the detailed description of the presently preferred embodiments and from the drawings.
I claim the ornamental design for a convertible sling backpack, as shown and described.

Claims

1. A convertible elongated sling resting around back of neck and shoulders In a downward U-shaped position, such as a scarf, with pouches to hold skates separately at each end with two sets of three button fastening devices on each side at shoulder level, in a first mode, for use in adjusting and converting in a second mode for later use in claim 2. Two separate framed compartments extend downward in sling position working as two separate carriers for inline or ice skates protected by skate guards;

the two separate compartments with netted inner lining, a bottom base with one rounded corner and a fastening device, two side walls; a back wall and a front wall wherein the interior is accessed through a top opening by use of drawstring for use of opening, inserting, housing and transporting skates separately. Two side wall compartments conform to shape of skate, wherein the interior includes netting as means for supporting skates in place. Hanging article in downward U-shaped, wearable, scarf-like device, lies along front of body of user so that both compartments are located near hip and upper thigh area of the wearers body while in use, first mode as sling carrier for skates, used as Inline skate sling in claim 1, the first set of articles therein in the first mode;

a first compartment closure, a bottom base with one rounded corner and a fastening device, two side walls; a back wall and a front wall wherein the interior is accessed through a top opening by use of draw string for use of opening, inserting, housing, and transporting skates separately, by securing and tightening a drawstring for opening and closing to insert skates into the two secured sidewall compartments, with bottom connecting clips, and a rounded corner fastening device for use of claim 2 of the first closure;

a second compartment is a mirror image of compartment one.

2. The convertible inline skate sling carrier of skates claim 1 further compromising;

a multi-positional elongated central portion sling, when not in use of carrier for skates, The bag of claim 1 further comprising;

a restraining bar securing at least a portion of the first set of articles within the first compartment.

3. The inline-skate sling of claim 1 further comprising;

an interior hanging device within the interior of the first compartment.

4. The sling of claim 1 further comprising;

an exterior hanging device constructed and arranged to suspend the inline skate sling to assist in accessing of the interior of the first compartment as separate receivers for each skate.

5. The inline skate sling of claim 1 further comprising;

a strap ending in two separate secured compartments to assist In carrying skates in one simple form claim 1 has a blending of functions and its locations converting into a shoe backpack of claim 2

Each pouch is constructed and arranged with netted Interior as use for holding shoes in place by 3 horizontal elastic bands claim 2 of the compartments as storage unit and carrier for shoes converting into a shoe backpack. The compartments separate receivers for shoes and small items, keys, money, etc., flip and retract over the shoulders connecting pouched compartments wherein shoe backpack mode, while skating, in second position in claim 2.

The convertible shoe backpack of claim 2 wherein the sling elongated portion is used for transporting skates while walking in claim 1, transforms into a second position, a shoe backpack for use of carrying shoes while skating having each shoe placed In the first and second wall framed compartment separately;

the convertible bag of claim 2 wherein the restraining bar, in a second position, is collapsible enabling use of the second compartment.

The convertible inline skate sling of claim 1 while in use for carrying shoes while skating in claim 2, wearer now using the hang over back of neck portion in a different position, wherein sling hang over neck portion is now positioned by back waist side, in a second position for use of now carrying shoes while skating, retracting the two separate compartments now in use for shoes are slung over the shoulder now not in use for skates properly positioned and fastened to wearers back compartments in claim 2 now used as a shoe backpack for shoes while skating.

9. The convertible skate sling bag of claim 1 further comprising;

a flexible strap contain two sets of 3 fasteners constructed and arranged to assist in fastening into sh_oe backpack during use in the second mode.

10. The convertible bag of claim 2 wherein the first closure is a sliding clips having a plurality of teeth and buttons holding claim 1 into claim 2 proper form.

11. The convertible inline skate sling bag of claim 1 further comprising;

at least two compartments constructed and arranged to hold the shoes in the second mode.

12. The convertible inline skate sling bag of claim 1 wherein tile two compartments of claim 2 comprises of a pair of sliding clips and button fasteners.

13. A bag convertible between a Milne skate sling for carrying a first set of articles skates and other small items while walking a shoe backpack for carrying shoes and small Items while skating in a second mode, the bag comprising;

a first closure;

a front wall and a back wall compartment substantially secured together by the first closure forming a first compartment having drawstring opening on top and a netted interior holding the first set of articles,

a second compartment is a mirror image of compartment one formed by securing the second closure forming a second interior holding the second set of articles wherein the first compartment is usable to hold the first set of articles only when the first mode is not in use holding the second set of articles.

14. The bag of claim 2 further comprising:

both compartments holding shoes and other small articles in interior of the first and second compartment now in use as shoe backpack, pouch formed in second mode claim 2 now securely fasten on wearers back by use of button fasteners and sliding clips in claim 2.
