Abstract

One embodiment of a combination hair tool may include a handle having a head portion, which may include a first surface portion and a second surface portion adjacent to the first surface portion. The combination hair tool may also have a plurality of bristles that may include a row of tufts extending from the first surface portion. The row of tufts may be configured to apply a hair product on hair. The combination hair tool may also have a plurality of teeth that may include a row of tines extending from the second surface portion. The row of tines may be configured to comb the hair.

CROSS REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

This application claims the benefit of U.S. Provisional Application No. 61/104,739 filed on Oct. 12, 2008, the disclosure of which is incorporated by reference.

FIELD OF THE DISCLOSURE

The present disclosure generally relates to hair tools, and, more particularly to a combination hair tool for simplifying hair styling activity.

BACKGROUND OF THE DISCLOSURE

A hair stylist may use various hair tools to perform different activities, which may include applying a relaxer, applying a hair dye and the like. For example, when applying the relaxer, the hair stylist may use a brush to apply the relaxer to one portion of curly hair, use a comb to straighten the softened portion hair and then repeat the process for the remaining portions of curly hair. By way of another example, when applying the hair dye, the hair stylist may use the comb to select a tuft of hair, use the brush to spread the hair dye on the tuft of hair, and then repeat the process for other portions that the individual wants to be dyed.
Accordingly, the hair stylist may repeatedly alternate between using the brush and the comb, which may consume a somewhat large amount of time and increase the likelihood of accidentally dropping the brush or the comb.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE DISCLOSURE

The exemplary embodiments described herein detail for illustrative purposes are subject to many variations in structure, and design. It should be emphasized, however, that the present disclosure is not limited to a combination hair tool as shown and described. It is understood that various omissions and substitutions of equivalents are contemplated as circumstances may suggest or render expedient, but these are intended to cover the application or implementation without departing from the spirit or scope of the claims of the present disclosure. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology used herein is for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.
The terms, “first,” “second,” and the like, herein do not denote any order, elevation or importance, but rather are used to distinguish placement of one element over another. Further, the terms “a” and “an” herein do not denote a limitation of quantity, but rather denote the presence of at least one of the referenced item.
The present disclosure provides a combination hair tool that may be utilized by a user, such as a hair stylist, for reducing his/her time and effort while performing a hair styling activity. Examples of this activity may include hair dye application and straightening of hair.
Referring to FIGS. 1A, and 1B, one embodiment of a combination hair tool 100 (hereinafter referred to as ‘hair tool 100’) may include a handle 102. This handle 102 may be configured to be held by a user, such as a hair stylist while performing a hair styling activity. For example, the handle 102 in one form may include a narrow end 102 a that terminates into a pointed end (not numbered) and a broad end 102 b that terminates at a head portion 108. The head portion 108 may include a first surface portion 110 and a second surface portion 112 adjacent to the first surface portion 110. The handle 102 may be made of plastic, wood, other suitable materials or any combination thereof.
The hair tool 100 may further have a plurality of bristles 104 that may be configured as a row of tufts 104 a extending from the first surface portion 110, along a longitudinal axis of the handle 102 or other suitable direction. Further, the row of tufts 104 a may be arranged in a linear pattern on the first surface portion 110. Of course, the row of 104 a tufts may instead be arranged in a nonlinear pattern. The row of tufts 104 a may be insert molded within the first surface portion 110 or attached thereto by an adhesive or other fasteners. In addition, the plurality of bristles 104 may be made of nylon. However, one skilled in the art will appreciate that other materials known in the art may be utilized for manufacturing the bristles 104. The row of tufts 104 a may be configured to receive a hair product, such as a relaxer, a hair dye, and the like, and apply the hair product to the hair.
The hair tool 100 may further have a plurality of teeth 106 that may be configured as a row of tines 106 a extending from the second surface portion 112, along or parallel to a longitudinal axis of the handle 102 or other suitable direction. Further, the row of tines 106 a may be arranged in a linear pattern on the second surface portion 112. The row of tines 106 a in one form may be adjacent and parallel to the row of tufts 104 a so that one of the rows 106 a and 104 a is arranged to contact the hair before the other of the two rows. The plurality of teeth 106 may an integral portion of the protruding member 114 formed by a process, such as molding. In an embodiment of the present disclosure, the plurality of teeth 106 may be configured on the second surface portion 112. Further, the plurality of teeth 106 may be made of plastic, wood, other suitable materials or any combination thereof.
One embodiment of the hair tool 100 may be about 8.5 inches in length. Further, the plurality of bristles 104 may be about 0.5 inches in length and about 0.25 inches in thickness. Furthermore, a length of the protruding member 114 and the plurality of teeth 106, combined, may be about 0.5 inches. Further, a width of the head portion 108 may be about 2.25 inches. However, it will be evident to those skilled in the art that dimensions of the hair tool 100 may vary based on requirements of the user.
In use, an individual may hold the handle 102 to dip the plurality of bristles 104 in a container of hair product for receiving the hair product thereon. The individual may then use the handle 102 to apply the hair product from the bristles 104 to the hair. Thereafter, the individual may use the handle to move the plurality of teeth 106 through the hair to comb the hair. Further, the pointed end of the handle 102 may be used for separating sections of the hair.
Referring to FIG. 2, a combination hair tool 200 (hereinafter referred to as ‘hair tool 200’) is illustrated according to another embodiment of the present disclosure.
The hair tool 200 includes a handle member 202, a plurality of bristles 204 and a plurality of teeth 206. The handle member 202 is configured to be held by a user, such as a hair stylist. The handle member 202 includes a head portion 208. The head portion 208 includes a first end portion 210 and a second end portion 212. The plurality of bristles 204 is configured for applying a hair product, such as a relaxer lotion, a hair dye, a hair straightening lotion, and the like, on hair of a person. The plurality of bristles 204 is disposed on the first end portion 210. Further, the plurality of bristles 204 extends outwardly from the first end portion 210 in a direction perpendicular to the handle member 202. The plurality of teeth 206 is configured on the hair tool 200 for combing the hair. The plurality of teeth 206 is disposed on the second end portion 212. Further, the plurality of teeth 206 extends outwardly from the second end portion 212 in a direction perpendicular to the handle member 202.
As shown in FIG. 2, the head portion 208 is a flat portion extending longitudinally from the handle member 202. In an embodiment of the present disclosure, the handle member 202 may be made of wood or plastic. Further, the plurality of bristles 204 may be made of nylon and the plurality of teeth 206 may be made of wood or plastic.
Furthermore, the plurality of bristles 204 of the hair tool 200 may be configured as a plurality of bristle tufts, such as a bristle tuft 204 a. A bristle tuft may include a set of bristles of the plurality of bristles 204. The plurality of bristle tufts may be linearly arranged on the first end portion 210. Further, the plurality of bristle tufts may be configured along a length of the first end portion 210, as depicted in FIG. 2. The plurality of bristles 204 enables the user to draw the hair product for application on the hair.
Furthermore, the plurality of teeth 206 of the hair tool 200 may be configured equi-distantly on the second end portion 212 of the head portion 208. In an embodiment of the present disclosure, the plurality of teeth 206 may be arranged linearly along a length of the second end portion 212 in a direction perpendicular to the handle member 202. Such linear arrangement of the plurality of teeth 206 may form a comb-like structure for enabling the user to comb the hair. The plurality of teeth 206 may be configured on the second end portion 212 by a process, such as molding.
As depicted in FIG. 2, the plurality of bristles 204 is adjacent and parallel to the plurality of teeth 206. Specifically, the plurality of bristles 204 and the plurality of teeth 206 extend outwardly from the first end portion 210 and the second end portion 212, respectively, to form the hair tool 200.
In an embodiment of the present disclosure, the hair tool 200 may be about 6 inches in length. Further, the plurality of bristles 204 and the plurality of teeth 206 of the hair tool 200 may be about 2 inches in length in a direction perpendicular to the handle member 202. The head portion 208 of the hair tool 200 may be about 1 inch in width. Further, each tooth of the plurality of teeth 206 may be about 0.25 inches in thickness. However, it will be evident to those skilled in the art that the hair tool 200 may vary in dimensions based on requirements of the user.
A combination hair tool (hereinafter referred to as ‘hair tool’), such as the hair tool 100 and the hair tool 200, is beneficial due to a dual utility of the hair tool. The hair tool may be used for applying a hair product, such a relaxer lotion, a hair dye, and the like, on hair of a user. Further, the hair tool may be utilized for combing the hair of the user. The hair tool may avoid use of two separate tools for applying hair products on the hair and combing the hair respectively. The user, such as a hair stylist may perform both tasks, i.e. apply the hair product on the hair and comb the hair with a single tool, thereby enhancing efficiency of the tasks performed. Further, the hair tool reduces inconvenience to the hair stylist in repeatedly switching tools for performing the two tasks, thereby adding ease in performing the tasks.
While the forms of the invention herein disclosed constitute presently preferred embodiments, many others are possible. It is not intended herein to mention all the possible equivalent forms or ramifications of the invention. It is understood that the terms used herein are merely descriptive, rather than limiting, and that various changes may be made without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention.
For example, without limitations, the lighting system could be used in connection with a vehicle during any time of the day rather than being disposed in a fixed location, such as one room of a building.

Claims

1. A combination hair tool, comprising:

a handle having a head portion, the head portion including a first surface portion and a second surface portion adjacent to the first surface portion;

a plurality of bristles comprising a row of tufts extending from the first surface portion, the row of tufts configured to apply a hair product on hair; and

a plurality of teeth comprising a row of tines extending from the second surface portion, the row of tines configured to comb the hair.

2. The combination hair tool of claim 1, wherein the row of tines is adjacent to the row of tufts so that one of the row of tines and the row of tufts is arranged to contact the hair before the other of the row of tines and the row of tufts contacts the hair.

3. The combination hair tool of claim 1, wherein the row of tines is disposed in a linear pattern.

4. The combination hair tool of claim 1, wherein the row of tufts is disposed in a linear pattern.

5. The combination hair tool of claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of bristles is made of nylon.

6. The combination hair tool of claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of teeth is made of plastic.

7. The combination hair tool of claim 1, wherein each of the plurality of teeth is made of wood.
