Abstract

An aftermarket attachment designed to retrofit onto 2′ ft. standard pushbroom that allows said broom to stand erect and stable in an upright position. Attaches to broom-top (hard surface opposite bristles) with 4 screws and enables the broom to be located, grasped and operated with user ease.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF INVENTION
  • Standard 2′ Push Brooms—how they equate to user, position to ground (surface of earth), and how they move debris. Developed invention due to lack of energy while repeatedly locating, reaching and bending down to grasp and use push broom to sweep material on hard surfaces. Brooms do not stand up and are leaned up against surfaces like cars, houses, interiors of garages which allows for scratches/dings.
  • SUMMARY OF INVENTION
  • After-market attachment secures to any standard 2′ wide pushbroom with 4 screws and allows broom to stand erect (hence—Standing Broom) for ease of location, ease of handling and the moving of debris with ease due to torque of weight distribution put on front nose of broom.
  • DESCRIPTION OF DRAWING
  • FIG. 1—Top view of 5″×19″ rectangle with name of invention centered on plastic, one center notch at 5½″ wide and 4 pilot holes.
  • FIG. 2—Side view of plastic (1″ thick )and the two (2) grooved notches that accommodate some mfgs brackets.
  • FIG. 3—Bottom view of the two (2) grooved notches at 2″×2¾″ depths with ½ radius.
  • FIG. 4—view of 45 degree bevel cut and the 8 degree angle of the 4 pilot holes.
  • FIG. 5—3-D view of aftermarket attachment measuring 5″×19″×1″—what comprises the Standing Broom.
  • DETAILED DESCRIPTION
  • Hard plastic material (3 lbs.) machined to exact specifications (5″ wide×19′ long×1″ thick) allow user to attach aftermarket “Standing Broom” with ease to 2 ft. standard pushbroom with four (provided)—2″ long×#8 wood screws through 4 predrilled holes at 8 degree angle equally spaced on top side. Continuous 45 degree bevel on down edge allows broom to stand erect on its own. Notches (3 total) allow SB to adhere firmly to broom surface and attach to top of broom surface (opposite bristle side) and accommodates 90 pct. of all manufactured 2′ wide push brooms. Hard plastic is durable, waterproof and has weight distribution to counter balance SB. Name (STANDING BROOM) and patent number to be machine etched on topside/center.

Claims (8)

1. “Standing Broom” allows standard 2 ft push broom to stand erect.
2. “Standing Broom” allows ease of location and eliminates bending over while grasping.
3. “Standing Broom” eliminates nics/scratches/dings on otherwise used surface that brooms are leaned up against—car, house siding, garage, etc.
4. “Standing Broom” allows user to effectively use less pressure from hands/arms to move debris—user can effectively operate broom/move debris with one hand due to counter balance of weight and attached location of SB.
5. “Standing Broom” can be used as a temporary/quick barrier for safety applications—leave upright standing broom on sidewalk/street to alert oncoming pedestrians/vehicles that work is in progress.
6. “Standing Broom” can be used as a light scraper to remove mud or sticky material on the hard surface users are intending to clean. Turn bristles over and use the beveled edge as a scraper—scratch and sweep.
7. “Standing Broom” can now be used as a hard hat/jacket holder—place any ball cap/towel/t-shirt on now erect broom handle and your clothing remains off the street and is kept free of debris. This also intensifies #5 due to the higher visibility of work in progress.
8. “Standing Broom” is sustainable and can be attached to new brooms as broom bristles wear down/out.
