Abstract
A plastic one-piece tool housing a wire brush insert for the abrasion of metal surfaces for the cleaning of corrosive materials by means of a power driven device.
Description
- This invention relates to wire brush cleaners and the cleaning process by the use of rotating the tool (referred to as a ‘zip brush’) within a power driven device for the outer cleaning of cylindrical materials. By rotating the tool at an increased rate of speed in a circular motion, a wire brush within the tool scours the outer elliptical surfaces of all metallic and or plastic tubing, posts, poles, protrusions and or related materials requiring their surface to be purified. The process eliminates corrosion or tarnishing caused by oxidation and other degrading impurities.
- The molded tools physical property is composed of a durable one piece high impact rigid plastic casing and extended shaft utilized in power driven devices and containing a hard tempered steel wire insert.
- The tools extrusion shaft shall accommodate shaft diameter sizes of ⅜″ and ¼″ increments in addition to supporting the dimensions of all standard given rotating power device shaft intakes. The tools extrusion shaft has properties consisting of the hexagon, octagon, round, square or triangular shape for insertion into a standard electric, cordless or power driven drill chuck and or other rotating device. The zip brush's extended shaft ‘collar’ has properties proportioned and consisting of the straight, angled, concave or convex design.
- The ‘zip brush’ shall adapt to metallic or plastic tubing outer diameters of ¼, ½, ¾, and 1 inch increments. In addition to increasing or reducing the tools physical diameter, additional sizes will be supported.
- For manual use when deemed necessary, the cylindrical outer surface will be moulded with a raised convexed beveled ridge spaced uniformly in accordance with an anatomically correct hand structure. The invention also consists in the parts and in the arrangements and combinations of parts hereinafter described and claimed.

FIG. 7 is a reverse or back perspective view showing tools shaft shapes, angles or sides. - A preferred construction has been illustrated in the drawing and will be rather specifically described, with the understanding, however, that within the scope of the invention as claimed, variations may be made.

FIG. 3 A convexsloped side 3 of ridge extends along the outer casing of thecylindrical body 2. Theridge front 13 ends flush with thefront edge 15 oftool face 19. Within the body cavity arecessed slot 23 provides for the placement of awasher cover 42 insert for the retaining of saidbrush insert 44 in place. Within thecavity surface 31 theupper top side 18 of extended retainer block lock tab andridge end 4 andridge side wall 14 act as a preventive measure against thebrush insert 44 from rotation slippage from within cavity wall. The backflat surface wall 17 of the outer casing incorporates aconvex collar 10 supporting a bit shaped extendedshaft 12 with a flatrear shaft surface 11. Within theflat wall surface 17 of inner back wall, a ledge or retainer wall supports the wire brush insert then slopes inward into a concave indentation or dimple for the reduction of excess material. -
FIG. 4 Illustrates a elevated view of said tool ‘1’. Exposure ofwire brush 45insert 44 contained by (note: 21 cutaway view for visual reference only) washer shaped plastic ‘snap in’cover 42 resting in said slot 23 (FIG. 3 ).line 9 union point of per slot 23 (FIG. 3 ). andcover insert 42. An extended retainerblock lock tab 4 maintains brush insert rotation slippage. 13 refers to several raised ridges providing grasp of tools outer surface. -
FIG. 5 Line 2 designates the outer edge of the tools diameter showingridge line 13 around circumference of tools body. Along back inner surface of tool ‘1’ a tapered collar 10 (illustrated variation example only) joins an extendedvariable shaft side 12 to back side ofshaft 11. -
FIG. 5 a Is an illustration example of the tools outer shell showing a variation of the tools a hand-held finger form-fitting ridge-line(s) for the purpose of grasping, grabbing or gripping of the tool for the manual handling under non-powered circumstances. -
FIG. 6 Pertains to variations of collared extended or extruded shafts 10-a shows a side elevation view with a concave collar 10-b shows a side elevation view with a convex collar. 10-c shows a side elevation view with a straight collar. 10-d shows a side elevation view with an angled collar. -
FIG. 7 36 shows the top of the ridge line along the beveled side ofline 3 across the surface of toolsouter body 2. 13 shows back end of ridge. Theside edge 19 flows tobackside 7 to thecollar edge 35 to a convextapered collar 10 and joins an extendedvariable shaft side 12 to the back side of shaft. -
FIG. 8 . Pertains to variations of shafts design shape. 11-a shows a round shaped bit. 11-b shows a octagon shaped bit. 11-c shows a hexagon shaped bit. 11-c shows a square shaped bit. 11-c shows a triangular shaped bit. - From the forgoing taken in connection with the accompanying drawings it will be noted that novel and advantageous provisions have been taken for carrying out the objects of the invention and while preferences have been disclosed, attention is again invited to the possibility of making variations within the scope of the invention as claimed.
Claims (1)
1. A wire brush cleaning tool incorporating:
(a) and comprising of a one piece plastic molded main body and shaft extrusion and or extension. An extended said shaft for the process of the purifying by scouring and or abrasion of tubular material by a power driven device providing for hands free variable rotation speeds.
(b) a hollowed body cavity having the characteristics of receiving a removable wire brush insert with the ability of retaining the brush insert by means of an extended retainer block lock tab within the tool and a flexible plastic washer shaped cover that shall be snapped into place per a recessed slot on the inner side of body cavity.
(c) a collared or non-collared shaft for heightened durability and for providing of high torque and stress related fields of operation. The shaft design shape having flexibility in sizes, shapes and dimensions suitable for various applications.
(d) a hand-held finger form-fitting ridge-line(s) for the application of manual rotation of tool wherein deemed necessary under certain criteria and or situations relating to availability of power driven devices. Variations of hand held ridge line peaks or valleys may vary in length, depth, width, size and dimensions.
Unique in form from similar devices, current hand held units lack a ‘solid one piece’ moulded shaft and casing, therefore eliminating the ability to provide for hands free agility.
