Abstract

A hand cover comprising a sheet member with a hole and a tubular section extending from the hole. The tubular section is adaptable for receiving the thumb of a user such that the sheet member rests upon the palm-side of the hand. Thus, a direct contact can be avoided between the palm and the fingers and an object, which the user holds.

BACKGROUND

The present invention relates in general to hand covering products and more particularly to a disposable sanitary hand cover.
Hand covering products, such as gloves and mittens are widely used for a variety of purposes. These products are designed for sports, industrial use, weatherproofing, sanitary uses, among others. Hand covering products that are used for sanitary purposes are known in the art.
U.S. Pat. No. 3,805,297 to Margolis discloses a disposable sanitary mitten comprising a thumb and a finger stall at one end. The thumb and finger stall are joined together to form a loop by which the mitten can be hung. The other end of the mitten through which a hand is to be inserted includes a biasing means which causes the mitten to be in open position for an easy insertion of a hand.
U.S. Pat. No. 4,065,826 to Hough discloses a disposable waterproof glove. The glove comprises two thermoplastic film layers and a laminar pile surfaced layer. The three layers, which are congruent, are superimposed and joined at the edges while providing an opening for the insertion of a hand. The layers are joined such that the laminar pile is faced outwardly. The hand is to be inserted between the two thermoplastic film layers such that the laminar pile surfaced layer comes at the palm-side of the hand. The glove is used primarily for cleaning purposes in hospitals and other sanitary environments.
U.S. Pub. No. 20050193471 to West discloses a disposable glove having improved sanitary characteristics. The glove comprises a first layer and a second layer, wherein the first layer is superimposed over the second and joined at the peripheries while providing an opening through which a hand is to be inserted. The first and the second layers abut the back and the palm sides of a hand respectively. The length of the second layer is slightly more than that of the first and therefore the bottom edge of the second layer extends below the bottom edge of the first layer. Further, a mounting section extends from the bottom edge of the second layer and is separated by a line of weakness which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the glove. The mounting section includes two holes by which the glove can be mounted onto a glove rack.
U.S. Pat. No. 4,918,755 to Kinnear discloses a disposable glove or mitt made of a sheet comprising foamed bubbles with filled with air. The foamed bubbles are of random sizes and the largest bubbles have a diameter substantially lesser than the width of a finger. The disposable glove provides a cushioned gripping and thermal insulation, both of which are useful while working in gasoline outlets, handling frozen food, etc.
The above references are related to gloves and mittens, which completely encase the hand of a user which adds bulk and can make these devices both expensive and time consuming to use.
Therefore, it is an object of the present invention to provide a hand cover for covering over the palm and the fingers of a hand.
A further object is to provide a hand cover that is primarily used for sanitary purposes.
A further object is to provide a hand cover that is inexpensive and disposable.
Finally, it is an object of the present invention to provide a hand cover made of a plastic or paper material. These and other objects of the present invention will become better understood with reference to the appended Summary, Description, and Claims.

SUMMARY

The present invention is a disposable sanitary hand cover comprising a sheet member with a hole. The hand cover further comprises a tubular section extending from the hole. The tubular section is adaptable to receive the thumb of a user through the hole such that the surface of the sheet member opposite to the tubular member rests on the palm-side of the hand. The hand cover is preferably made of plastic or paper material.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Referring to the drawings, a preferred embodiment of a disposable sanitary hand cover is illustrated and generally indicated as 10 in FIGS. 1 and 2. The hand cover 10 is preferably made of a plastic or paper material.
Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, the hand cover 10 comprises a sheet member 12 with a hole, and a tubular section 14 extending from the hole. The thumb 16 of a user is to be inserted into the tubular section through the hole such that the sheet member 12 rests upon the palm and the fingers so as to cover them substantially. Therefore, a direct contact can be avoided to the palm-side of the hand when the user holds an object, which, for example, can be a gasoline pump 18 as seen in FIG. 2. The sheet member 12 comprises a mild adhesive on that surface which abuts the palm-side of the hand.

Accordingly, it is to be understood that the present invention has been described by way of illustration and not limitation.

Claims

1. A disposable sanitary hand cover comprising;

a. a sheet member with a hole; and

b. a tubular section extending from the hole, adaptable for receiving the thumb of a user via the hole such that the sheet member rests upon the palm and the fingers.

2. The hand cover of claim 1, wherein the surface of the sheet member that abuts the palm-side of the hand comprises an adhesive.

3. The hand cover of claim 1, wherein the hand cover is made of plastic.

4. The hand cover of claim 1, wherein the hand cover is made of paper.

5. The hand cover of claim 1, wherein the hand cover is made of synthetic materials.

6. The hand cover of claim 1, wherein the hand cover is made of natural materials.

7. The hand cover of claim 1, wherein the hand cover is imprinted to show a user how to align their hand on the cover.

8. The hand cover of claim 1, wherein the hand cover is made of porous materials.

9. The hand cover of claim 1, wherein the hand cover is made of moisture impervious materials.

10. The hand cover of claim 1, wherein the tubular section is made to fit the right hand of a user.

11. The hand cover of claim 1, wherein the tubular section is made to fit the left hand of a user.

12. The hand cover of claim 1, wherein the tubular section extends beyond the thumb of a user.

13. The hand cover of claim 1, wherein the tubular section does not adhere to the sheet member.

14. The hand cover of claim 1, wherein the sheet member is twelve by ten inches.

15. The hand cover of claim 1, wherein the tubular section is four inches in length, 2.5 inches in circumference where it intersects the sheet member, and 2 inches in circumference at its other end.

16. The hand cover of claim 1, wherein the tubular section intersects the sheet member midway along the sheet member's ten inch length, and three inches in along the sheet member's 12 inch length.

17. The hand cover of claim 1, wherein the exterior of the tubular section comprises an adhesive.
