Abstract

A bedding in accordance with one embodiment of the invention is disclosed to include a plurality of sheet members, and a structure for detachably joining the sheet members such that the sheet members are detachable for cleaning to remove dust mite. In an alternate form of the invention, the bedding includes a sheet member folded or rolled into a multilayer structure, and a structure for securing the multilayer structure in shape.

Description

    BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
  • 1. Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to bedding and more particularly, to such a bedding, which is conveniently washed to remove dust mite allergen.
  • 2. Description of the Related Art
  • It is well known that dust mite is a violent allergen. Discharged waste matter, dead bodies and eggs of dust mites will trigger allergic reaction, causing allergic diseases such as allergic rhinitis, allergic gasp, eye allergy, neuro-dermatitis, urticaria, etc. According to report, the percentage of modern people suffering from allergic diseases is gradually increasing. Dust mites are commonly seen in house environment, more particularly in pillows, quilts, mattress, sofas, etc.
  • Waste matter from dust mites is the most aggressive allergen. Because waste matter from dust mites is water soluble, it is a good way to wash away dust mite allergen with running water. However, conventional beddings commonly have a certain thickness and not washable with water. Therefore, people usually cleaning beddings by putting them under the light of the sun or patting them with the rods. However, these methods are not effective to remove dust mite allergen.
    • SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention has been accomplished under the circumstances in view. It is the main object of the present invention to provide a bedding, which is conveniently washable to remove dust mite allergen. According to one aspect of the present invention, the bedding comprises a plurality of sheet members, and means for detachably joining the sheet members such that the sheet members are detachable for cleaning to remove dust mite allergen. According to another embodiment of the invention, the bedding comprises a sheet member folded or rolled into a multilayer structure, and means for detachably securing the multilayer structure in shape.

    • DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, a bedding 10 in accordance with the first embodiment of the present invention is made in the form of, for example, a quilt, having multiple sheet members 12 and joining means 14. The thickness of the sheet member is about 0.1˜1.5 cm. The sheet members 12 could be made of natural fibers, silk, cotton, or chemical fibers, just to mention some of the materials preferably usable for these components. The joining means 14 comprises a cover 16, which is a soft container holding the sheet members 12 inside, hook fasteners 18 and loop fasteners 19 applied between any two of the sheet members 12 to hold the sheet members 12 in a stack. There is no limitation to the number and locations of the hook and loop fasteners 18 and 19. In addition to the function of holding the sheet members 12 in place, the cover 16 also prohibit separation of the hook and loop fasteners 18 and 19 due to external stretching force.
  • When wishing to wash the bedding 10, open the cover 16 and remove the sheet members 12 out of the cover 16, and then unfasten the hook and loop fasteners 18 and 19 to separate the sheet members 12 one another. The sheet members 12 each are thin and light, and machine washable. After washing, the sheet members 12 can be dried in the open air, or by a dryer. Because all elements of the bedding 10 are washable, dust mites can be effectively eliminated from the bedding 10.
  • The aforesaid joining means may be variously embodied. FIG. 3 shows a bedding 20 according to the second embodiment of the present invention. According to this embodiment, a zipper 24 is provided between each two sheet members 22 for detachably joining the respective sheet members 22.
  • FIG. 4 shows a bedding 30 according to the third embodiment of the present invention. According to this embodiment, clips 32 are used to join the sheet members 34.
  • FIG. 5 shows a bedding 40 according to the fourth embodiment of the present invention. According to this embodiment, loops 44 and buttons 46 are applied on the sheet members 42 for joining the sheet members 42 in a stack.
  • The invention may be employed to other beddings such as pillows, mattress, etc. FIG. 6 shows a bedding 50 according to the fifth embodiment of the present invention. According to this embodiment, the bedding 50 is a pillow, comprising a core 51, a sheet member 52 rolled round the core 51 to show a multilayer structure 54 shaped like a flat tube, and joining means to hold the multilayer structure 54 in shape. The joining means can be hook and loop fasteners, zipper, etc. Therefore, the bedding 50 is detachable for cleaning. Further, the core 51 could be a hollow shell made of woven bamboo material for the advantages of good ventilation and flexibility to give a comfortable support to the user's head.
  • FIG. 7 shows a bedding 60 according to the sixth embodiment of the present invention. According to this embodiment, the bedding 60 is a mattress comprising a core 61, a sheet member 62, and joining means. The sheet member 62 is folded into a multilayer structure 64 and then wound around the core 61. The joining means secures the a multilayer structure 64 in place. The core 61 is a solid member made of foamed material for supporting the bedding 60 in shape. When unfastened from the joining means, the sheet member 62 can be washed.
  • FIG. 8 shows a bedding 70 according to the seventh embodiment of the present invention. According to this embodiment, the bedding 70 is a pillow comprising a plurality of sheet members 72 and joining means. The sheet members 72 each have a tubular shape. Several sheet members are stacked together by the joining means. When unfastened the joining means, the sheet member 72 can be washed.
  • Although particular embodiments of the invention have been described in detail for purposes of illustration, various modifications and enhancements may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention. Accordingly, the invention is not to be limited except as by the appended claims.

Claims (6)

1. A mattress comprising:
a plurality of sheet members; and
means for detachably joining said sheet members.
2. The mattress as claimed in claim 1, wherein said means for detachably joining said sheet members comprises a hook and loop fastener disposed between two of said sheet members.
3. The mattress as claimed in claim 1, wherein said means for detachably joining said sheet members comprises a zipper provided between two of said sheet members.
4. The mattress as claimed in claim 1, wherein said means for detachably joining said sheet members comprises a loop and a button respectively applied on two of said sheet members.
5. The mattress as claimed in claim 1, wherein said means for detachably joining said sheet members comprises a clip for securing said sheet members together.
6. The mattress as claimed in claim 1, wherein said means for detachably joining said sheet members comprises a cover for receiving said sheet members inside.
