1 Claim.
The invention relates to radiator cores and has among its principal objects the provision of means for increasing the rate of heat exchange between the indirect'heat radiating surface such 5 as the fins of the core and the air passing over said fins.
A further. object of the invention is to provide a fin with a plurality of air passages extending in the direction of the air passing over the fins, this portion of the fins providing means whereby the rate of heat exchange is increased. v
It is also an object of the invention to provide a structure having the above mentioned advantages with means for creating turbulence of air passing over said fin. I i
In addition it is an object or" the invention to provide a radiator having a fin constructed with means for increasing the rate of heat exchange between said fin and the air passing oversaid fin and having another fin associated therewith, the latter having means for causing turbulence of air and directing said air toward the first mentioned fin.
The invention has these and other objects, all of which will be explained in detail and more readily understood when read in conjunction with the accompanying drawing which illustrates an embodiment of the invention, it being therefore obvious that other changes and modifications may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention as defined in the appended claim forming a part hereof.

The invention contemplates utilizing a plurality of tubes In which are connectedtogetherby the fins 30 and 3| arranged transverse to the length of the tubes. In the structure illustrated the tubes [0 are connected with header tanks respectively designated l2 and I3. Each of the fins 30 and 3! are provided with a plurality of apertures for the reception of the tubes In and nels arranged transversely of the fins which exthe material of certain of the fins located between a pair of the tubes is crimped or corrugated to provide a plurality of air passages [6 arranged transversely of the length of them, which also extend in the direction of the air 5 passing over said fins.
The arrangement shown in Fig.2 contemplates the utilization of a fin 30 which isprovided with corrugations, and the combination therewith of a fin 3| which is interposed between the fins 3|) 10 V and is provided with means for creating turbulenceof air, the means causing the air passing over the fin 3! to be circulated from one side of the fin 3! to the other intocontactwith the corrugated portions of thefins 30 located upon 15 opposite sides of said fin 3|. The means causing this turbulence is designated 32. I I From the foregoing description of the invention, it is evident that a construction is provided whereby the heat dissipating capacity of a core 20 is increased. It is further manifest that the means employed does not impede or materially interfere with the passage of air through the core but on the. contrary provides a plurality of chantend in the direction of travel of the air passing over said fins. It is further manifest that the structure may be provided with means whereby turbulence of air is created and caused to travel a tortuous path to thereby increase the heat 30 dissipating effect.
Having thus described the invention, what- I claim as new anddesire to cover by Letters Patent is:
A radiator core comprising a plurality of tubes 5 and transverse fins mounted upon said tubes;
