Abstract
A garbage can includes a containing barrel, and an elastic securing ring; the containing barrel has an upper opening, and an annular groove on an inner side of an upper end; a garbage bag is held in the containing barrel; the securing ring is removably fitted onto the annular groove for pressing an upper end of the garbage bag against the groove such that the garbage bag is kept wide open and held in position, and such that no portion of the garbage bag can be exposed outside the barrel to spoil the look of the garbage can.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a garbage can capable of holding a garbage bag in position, more particularly one, which can keep a garbage bag in position that is contained therein, and can prevent the garbage bag from being exposed outside it to spoil the appearance thereof.
- 2. Brief Description of the Prior Art
- Garbage cans are used for holding garbage therein, and are to be emptied out when they are nearly full.
- Referring to
FIG. 4 , a conventional garbage can includes anouter container 5, and alid 6 pivoted to the upper end of theouter container 5. Aninner container 7 is positioned in theouter container 5 such that waste can be thrown therein. When theinner container 7 is full, it is removed from theouter container 5, and emptied out. - It becomes common practice for people to position a
garbage bag 8 inside theinner container 7, and fold an upper edge 81 of thebag 8 outwardly of theouter container 5 such that thebag 8 is held in position with the upper edge 81 thereof being exposed outside theouter container 5 and enclosing the upper end of the same. Thus, waste can be thrown into thegarbage bag 8, and the waste is discarded together with thebag 8 when thebag 8 becomes full. - However, the following disadvantages will be found when the
garbage bag 8 is held in position in the above way: - 1. The
garbage bag 8 is likely to fall out of position when there is external force exerted on it because the upper edge 81 of thebag 8 is folded to enclose the upper end of theouter container 5 without being secured by any means. - 2. The upper edge of the
garbage bag 8 is exposed outside theouter container 5, and the look of the whole garbage can is spoiled. - It is a main object of the present invention to provide garbage can to overcome the above disadvantages.
- The garbage can of the present invention includes a containing barrel, and an elastic securing ring. The containing barrel has an upper opening, and an annular groove on an inner side of an upper end. A garbage bag is held in the containing barrel while the elastic securing ring is removably fitted onto the annular groove of the containing barrel for pressing an upper edge of the garbage bag against the groove such that the garbage bag is kept wide open and held in position, and such that the garbage bag can't be exposed outside the barrel to spoil the look of the garbage can.
- The present invention will be better understood by referring to the accompanying drawings, wherein:
-
FIG. 1 is an exploded perspective view of the garbage can according to the present invention, -
FIG. 2 is a vertical section of the garbage can according to the present invention, -
FIG. 3 is a partial vertical section of the garbage can according to the present invention, -
FIG. 4 is a horizontal section of the garbage can according to the present invention, and -
FIG. 5 is a vertical section of the conventional garbage can. - Referring to FIGS. 1 to 3, a preferred embodiment of a garbage can in the present invention includes a containing
barrel 1, alid 2, and a securingring 3. - The containing
barrel 1 has an opening at an upper end, and thelid 2 is pivoted to the upper end of the containingbarrel 1 for covering thebarrel 1 with. And, agarbage bag 4 is positioned in thebarrel 1 for allowing waste to be held therein. The containingbarrel 1 is formed with anannular groove 12 on an inner side near the upper end thereof. The securingring 3 is elastic, and can be closely fitted on theannular groove 12 of the containingbarrel 1 such that the upper edge of thegarbage bag 4 is tightly sandwiched between thering 3 and the containingbarrel 1. Consequently, thegarbage bag 4 is kept open and secured in position. - In addition, the elastic securing
ring 3 has twoopposing bent portions 31, between which a space is provided; thus, a person can make the elastic securingring 3 smaller by means of pressing theopposing bent portions 31 for the same to move closer to each other with the fingers, and in turns, the elastic securingring 3 can be easily fitted onto, and removed from theannular groove 12. After the securingring 3 is positioned within theannular groove 12 with a reduced size, and after thebent portions 31 are released, the securingring 3 will regain shape and fit onto theannular groove 12 automatically owing to the elasticity thereof. - In using the garbage can, first the
lid 2 is opened, and thegarbage bag 4 is positioned in thebarrel 1. Then, thesecuring ring 3 is positioned within an upper end portion of thegarbage bag 4 to keep the same wide open, and is fitted onto theannular groove 12 of thebarrel 1 with the help of thebent portions 31; thus, thebag 4 is tightly sandwiched between thering 3 and thebarrel 1 at the upper end portion thereof, and in turns, thebag 4 is held in position. In case the upper end portion of thegarbage bag 4 has anexcessive portion 41 projecting upwards from the elastic securingring 3 after thegarbage bag 4 has been held in position with the securingring 3, theexcessive portion 41 is folded inwardly of the containingbarrel 1 to be close to the securingring 3. - From the above description, it can be easily understood that the garbage can in the present invention has advantages as followings:
- 1. The
elastic securing ring 3 can be easily fitted onto theannular groove 12 of thebarrel 1 after having been reduced and then released. And, thegarbage bag 4 will be held in position with the help of the elastic securingring 3 and theannular groove 12. - 2. The
excessive portion 41 of the upper end portion of thegarbage bag 4 can be folded inwardly of thebarrel 1 to be close to the securingring 3 after theelastic securing ring 3 has been fitted onto theannular groove 12 to hold thebag 4 in position. Therefore, there won't be any portion of thebag 4 exposed outside thebarrel 1 to spoil the look of the whole garbage can. - 3. The garbage can is more economical to use because there is no need for an outer container such as is used with the conventional can.
