Abstract
A bowl section of a wash-hand basin main body is provided with an overflow edge section of which part is extended upward to form an extension section. The extension section is provided with a cleaning fluid ejection port adapted to eject soapy water or the like for removing dirt and/or bacteria adhered to a user's hands. In this construction, the extension section continuously formed at a section of the overflow edge section of the bowl section functions as a conventional function case and as result, the number of parts and the number of execution man-hours can be reduced. Since a clearance or gap as seen in the prior art is not produced, cleaning efficiency can be improved. A cleaning fluid is filled in a tank, and a cleaning fluid refilling port for refilling the cleaning fluid from the tank is provided on the inner surface of a water receiving section. The cleaning fluid within the tank is supplied to the cleaning fluid ejection port by a pump. In this manner, it is possible to easily refill the cleaning fluid without dirtying the function case or a counter.
Description
- 1. Field of the Invention
- The present invention relates to a wash-hand basin or a hand-washing device which is installed in an ordinary household, a public lavatory or a washroom and the like.
- 2. Description of the Prior Art
- A conventional wash-hand basin or hand-washing device of this kind is, for example, disclosed in Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. Hei 1-236023 (1989).
- As shown in FIG. 26, a hand-washing device
main body 100 is provided with abowl section 200, and afunction case 300 is mounted on acounter 400 which is provided along an edge of thebowl section 200. A soapywater ejection nozzle 500, a hand-washingwater ejection nozzle 600 and a warmair blowing nozzle 700 are provided on a front surface of thefunction case 300 to respectively communicate and connect with a soapy water supply device, a hand-washing water supply device and a warm air generating device which are stored in the hand-washing devicemain body 100. - A
refilling port 800 for refilling soapy water is provided on the upper section of thefunction case 300, and acover 900 is mounted on the upper end of thefunction case 300 to cover therefilling port 800.Reference numerals water ejection nozzle 500, the hand-washingwater ejection nozzle 600 and the warm-air blowingnozzle 700 to detect a user's hands stretched out thereto and transmit the detection signal to a control section. - In this manner, a user can wash his hands first and dry them without shifting his position.
- However, in the above-mentioned conventional structure, when soapy water is refilled, the
cover 900 must be removed from thefunction case 300. It is therefore troublesome to carry out the refilling operation. Further, there is a problem that when refilled, the soapy water will spill out to make thefunction case 300 and thecounter 400 dirty. There is another problem that the spilt soapy water will adhere to hand detectingsensors water ejection nozzle 500 or water is not ejected from the hand-washingwater ejection nozzle 600. - Further, in such a conventional structure, since a wash-hand basin main body is separate from a function case, there is a problem that the number of parts and the number of execution man-hours increase to let the execution of works take time.
- Still further, there is a problem that the cleaning efficiency is not good because a clearance or gap is produced between the wash-hand basin main body and the function case.
- In the prior art, there is caused a clearance or gap between a wash-hand basin main body and a function case. Accordingly, cleaning is not only efficient, but also assembling works of the wash-hand basin main body with the function case can not be easily performed and a cleaning fluid such as soapy water can not be easily refilled. Inventors have now formed a first group of invention by extending upward a section of an overflow edge section of a bowl section of a wash-hand basin main body to provide an extension section and providing the extension section with a cleaning fluid ejection port for ejecting soapy water or the like. Inventors have also formed a second group of invention by filling a cleaning fluid into a tank, forming a cleaning fluid refilling port for refilling the cleaning fluid from the tank on an inner surface of a water receiving section, and supplying the cleaning fluid ejection port with the cleaning fluid within the tank by a pump.
- As the first group of invention, it is desirable that a wash-hand basin main body, an extension section formed by extending upward a section of an overflow edge section of a bowl section of the wash-hand basin main body, and a cleaning fluid ejection port provided on the extension section to eject soapy water or the like for removing dirt, bacteria or the like adhered to a user's hands be provided.
- Since the extension section continuously formed on the section of the overflow edge section of the bowl section functions as a conventional function case, it is possible to reduce the number of parts and the number of execution man-hours and easily carry out the execution works. Since there is not produced a clearance or gap as seen in the prior art, cleaning efficiency can be can be improved.
- If the cleaning fluid ejection port is designed to eject soapy water or the like toward the bottom surface side of the bowl section, the ejected soapy water or the like can be surely received by the bowl section. Since scattering of the soapy water or the like onto the peripheral members such as a counter of a wash-hand basin can be prevented, it is possible to keep cleanliness.
- If a rear section of the overflow edge section of the bowl section is extended upward to form the extension section, the cleaning fluid ejection port can be situated at a position facing the user. In this case, a hand-washing motion using the cleaning fluid can be easily carried out and the usability of the wash-hand basin improves.
- It is also desirable that the wash-hand basin main body, the extension section formed by extending upward a section of the overflow edge section of the bowl section of the wash-hand basin main body, and a water ejection port provided on the extension section for ejecting hot or cold water be provided.
- Since the extension section continuously formed on a section of the overflow edge section of the bowl section functions as a conventional function case, it is not only possible to reduce the number of parts and the number of execution man-hours, but also to easily carry out the execution works. Further, since there is not produced a conventional clearance or gap, cleaning efficiency can be improved.
- In the case where a user washes his face and hands with hot or cold water ejected by the water ejection port, scattering of the hot or cold water is received at the extension section. Since scattering of the hot or cold water onto the peripheral member such as a counter of the wash-hand basin is prevented, cleanliness can be maintained.
- If the water ejection port is provided to eject hot or cold water toward a bottom surface of the bowl section, the ejected hot or cold water can be received more certainly at the bowl section. In this manner, scattering of the soapy water or the like onto the peripheral member such as a counter of the wash-hand basin can be prevented and as a result, cleanliness can be maintained.
- If a rear section of the overflow edge section of the bowl section is extended upward to form the extension section, the water ejection port is situated at a position facing the user. As a result, the hand-washing motion with hot or cold water can be easily performed and usability of the wash-hand basin improves.
- It is also desirable that the wash-hand basin main body, the extension section formed by extending upward a section of the overflow edge section of the bowl section of the wash-hand basin main body, and a gas blowing port provided on the extension section for blowing gas for blowing off the drops of water or the like adhered to the user's hands be provided.
- Since the extension section continuously formed on a section of the overflow edge section of the bowl section functions as a conventional function case, it is not only possible to reduce the number of parts and the number of execution man-hours, but also to easily perform the execution works. Since there is not produced a clearance or gap as seen in the prior art, clean efficiency can be improved.
- If the gas blowing port for blowing gas for blowing off the drops of water or the like adhered to the user's hands is provided on the extension section, the user can dry his hands without shifting his position and usability of the wash-hand basin improves. Since the counter of the wash-hand basin, a floor or the like is not dirtied with the drops of water or the like adhered to the user's hands, clean space can be maintained.
- If the bowl section other than the extension section is provided with a gas blowing port for blowing gas for blowing off the drops of water or the like adhered to the user's hands, the user can dry his hands without shifting his position and usability of the wash-hand basin improves. Further, since the counter of the wash-hand basin, the floor or the like is not dirtied with the drops of water or the like adhered to the hands, clean space can be maintained. Still further, since the user stretches out his hands inside the bowl section for drying, there is little possibility that the counter of the wash-hand basin or the like is dirtied with the drops of water blown off from the hands. It is also possible to further maintain the cleanliness.
- When the gas blowing port is provided at the front side of the bowl section, the gas blown from the gas blowing port is blown off in the direction away from the user. Accordingly, there is little possibility that the gas after striking the hands strikes again the user to disturb his hairstyle or the drops of water or the like blown off by the gas splash on the user. It is therefore possible to obtain comfortable feeling of use.
- If the gas blowing port is provided with a blowing axis for allowing the gas to blow downward or in a substantially horizontal direction, the blowing direction of gas from the gas blowing port is orientated to the inside of the bowl section. Accordingly, there is little possibility that the counter of the wash-hand basin or the like is dirtied with the drops of water or the like blown off from the hands, and as a result, cleanliness can be further maintained.
- If the gas blowing port is provided to allow the blowing axis to face the extension section and the blowing axis is situated at the lower side than the top of the extension section, the drops of water or the like blown off from the hands can be received more certainly by the extension section or the bowl section. As a result, there is little possibility that the counter of the wash-hand basin or the like is dirtied, and cleanliness can be further maintained.
- When a hollow chamber is provided at the front side of the bowl section and it is used as an air duct for supplying the gas blowing port with the gas, the blowing pressure of gas can be uniformalized within the chamber to allow the gas with the uniform velocity of wind to blow from the gas blowing port. In this case, the chamber can be integrally formed with the bowl section and the number of parts such as a duct for ventilation and a packing member can be reduced. As a result, a reduction in costs can also be attained.
- If the wash-hand basin main body is made of pottery or ceramics, it is not only possible to easily clean dirt such as soapy water and/or drops of water adhered to the bowl section and/or the extension section, but also the air duct can be integrally formed with the bowl section without difficulty.
- If there is provided a hand detecting means for detecting the hands stretch out in front of the cleaning fluid ejection port, the water ejection port or the gas blowing port and the hand detecting means is provided near the cleaning fluid ejection port, the water ejection port or the gas blowing port, it is possible to automatically let eject the cleaning fluid such as soapy water and hot or cold water or let the gas blow without touching an appliance or the like. Accordingly, usability of the wash-hand basin not only improves, but also cleanliness can be maintained.
- If the hand detecting means is integrally formed with the cleaning fluid ejection port, the water ejection port or the gas blowing port, it is possible to reduce the number of parts used and attain the reduction in costs.
- If the extension section is formed to tilt in the front direction of the bowl section, it is possible to make the construction of the wash-hand basin compact by controlling the extent of the upward projection. Even though the cleaning fluid and the drops of water or the like adhere to the extension section, it is designed to let them flow easily and as a result, cleaning can also be easily carried out. Further, when the gas blowing port is provided at the front side of the bowl section, it is possible to deter the drops of water or the like blown off from the hands by the gas blown off from the gas blowing port from scattering onto the wall surface facing the user, the counter or the like.
- If the extension section is provided with an opening section for mounting the cleaning fluid ejection port, the water ejection port or the gas blowing port, and the cleaning fluid ejection port, the water ejection port or the gas flowing port is mounted on the opening section from the side of the bowl section via a fitting member, it is possible to carry out mounting or dismounting operation from the front side when mounting or maintenance of the cleaning fluid ejection port, the water ejection port or the gas flowing port is performed. As a result, workability not only improves, but also working hours can be reduced.
- It is also desirable that a wash-hand basin main body, an extension section formed by extending upward a section of an overflow edge section of a bowl section of the wash-hand basin main body, a cleaning fluid ejection port for ejecting soapy water or the like adapted to remove dirt and/or bacteria adhered to a user's hands onto the extension section, and a cleaning fluid supply device for supplying the cleaning fluid ejection port with soapy water or the like be provided.
- Since the extension section continuously formed on a section of the overflow edge section of the bowl section functions as a conventional function case, it is not only possible to reduce the number of parts and the number of execution man-hours, but also to easily perform the execution works. Since there is not produced a clearance or gap as seen in the prior art, it is possible to provide a hand-washing device which can improve the cleaning efficiency.
- It is also desirable that the wash-hand basin main body, the extension section formed by extending upward a section of the overflow edge section of the bowl section of the wash-hand basin main body, the water ejection port for ejecting hot or cold water onto the extension section, and a hot and cold water supply device for supplying the water ejection port with the hot and cold water be provided.
- The extension section continuously formed on a section of the overflow edge section of the bowl section functions as a conventional function case. Accordingly, it is not only possible to reduce the number of parts and the number of execution man-hours, but also to easily carry out the execution works. Since there is not produced a clearance or gap as seen in the prior art, it is possible to provide a hand-washing device which can improve the cleaning efficiency.
- When the user washes his face and hands with hot or cold water ejected from the water ejection port, the extension section is designed to receive scattering of the hot or cold water. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent the hot or cold water from scattering onto the peripheral member such as the counter of the wash-hand basin, and as a result, cleanliness can be maintained.
- It is also desirable that the wash-hand basin main body, the extension section formed by extending upward a section of the overflow edge section of the bowl section of the wash-hand basin main body, and the gas blowing port for blowing the gas for blowing off the drops of water or the like adhered to the user's hands onto the extension section be provided.
- Since the extension section continuously formed on a section of the overflow edge section of the bowl section functions as a conventional function case, it is possible to reduce the number of parts and the number of execution man-hours and easily carry out the execution works. Since there is not produced a clearance or gap as seen in the prior art, it is possible to provide a hand-washing device which can improve the cleaning efficiency.
- If a gas supply device for supplying the gas blowing port with gas is provided, the user can dry his hands without shifting his position and as a result, usability of the hand-washing device improves. Since the counter of the wash-hand basin, the floor or the like is not dirtied with the drops of water or the like adhered to the user's hands, clean space can be maintained.
- If the bowl section other than the extension section is provided with a gas blowing port for blowing the gas for blowing off the drops of water or the like adhered to the user's hands and a gas supply device for supplying the gas blowing port with gas is provided, the user can dry his hands without shifting his position and as a result, usability of the hand-washing device improves. Since the counter of the wash-hand basin, the floor or the like is not dirtied with the drops of water or the like adhered to the user's hands, clean space can be maintained. Since the hands can be inserted within the bowl section for drying, there is little possibility that the counter of the wash-hand basin or the like is not dirtied with the drops of water or the like blown off from the hands, and as a result, cleanliness can be further maintained.
- If the gas supply device is constructed to supply the gas blowing port with high-pressure gas, the wet hands can be dried in a short time.
- A hand detecting means for detecting the user's hands stretched out in front of the cleaning fluid ejection port, the water ejection port or the gas blowing port, a control section for controlling drive of the cleaning fluid supply device, the hot and cold water supply device or the gas supply device based on the detection signal from the hand detecting means, and an operating switch are provided, wherein when an actuating signal by the operating switch is inputted, the control section controls to invalidate the detection signal by the hand detecting means for a certain period of time. In the case where the wash-hand basin is cleaned, the hand detecting means senses the user's hands to actuate the cleaning fluid supply device, the hot and cold water supply device or the gas supply device. In this manner, it is possible to prevent the cleaning fluid and/or the hot and cold water from scattering to dirty a counter, a wall surface or the like. It is also possible to prevent the cleaning fluid, hot and cold water or electricity from being consumed uselessly.
- The control of invalidation of the hand detecting signal by the operating switch for a certain period of time is removed if there is re-input by the operating switch within the certain period of time. Accordingly, even though cleaning of the wash-hand basin is completed within the predetermined period of time, the control of invalidation for the predetermined period of time is continued and the wash-hand basin can still be used until removed.
- A counter for mounting the wash-hand basin main body is provided, the extension section is provided with a hollow section, and the rear wall of the extension section is formed to extend upward from the upper or lower surface of the counter, wherein a connecting member for communicating and connecting the cleaning fluid ejection port, the water ejection port or the gas blowing port with the cleaning fluid supply device, the hot and cold water supply device or the gas supply device is connected via the hollow section to the cleaning fluid ejection port, the water ejection port or the gas blowing port. In such a construction, since the connecting member is hidden behind the hollow section formed in the extension section, the external appearance can be improved.
- A second group of invention is provided to comprise a water ejection port for ejecting hot or cold water, a cleaning fluid ejection port for ejecting soapy water or the like for removing dirt, bacteria or the like adhered to a user's hands, a cleaning fluid supply means for supplying the cleaning fluid ejection port with a cleaning fluid, a water receiving section for receiving water from the water ejection port and the clean fluid from the cleaning fluid ejection port, and a drain port provided at a lower section of the water receiving section, wherein the cleaning fluid supply means comprises a tank for filling the cleaning fluid therein, a cleaning fluid refilling port for refilling the cleaning fluid into the tank, a supply route for communicating the tank with the cleaning fluid refilling port, and a pump for supplying the cleaning fluid ejection port with the cleaning fluid within the tank via a cleaning fluid supply route, wherein the cleaning fluid refilling port is provided inside the water receiving section.
- Since refilling of the cleaning fluid such as soapy water can be performed within the water receiving section, even in the case where the cleaning fluid is spilt, it is possible to easily clean the cleaning fluid and discharge it from the drain port. For example, even though the water ejection port and/or the cleaning fluid ejection port are provided in a function case as before, it is possible to provide a highly reliable hand-washing device without polluting the function case or the counter.
- If the water receiving section is formed in a substantially oval shape which is wide in the lateral direction and the cleaning fluid refilling port is provided on either side of the right or the left of the water receiving section, refilling of the cleaning fluid can be easily performed in an easy position even in the case of a comparatively large cleaning fluid refilling container.
- If the cleaning fluid refilling port is situated at a position of about ⅓ depth from the upper end of the depth of the water receiving section from the upper end to the bottom surface, it is possible to easily situate an inlet of the cleaning fluid refilling container relative to the cleaning fluid refilling port when the cleaning fluid is refilled. Accordingly, refilling works can be easily performed without spilling the cleaning fluid.
- The extension section is formed by extending upward a rear section of the water receiving section and provided with the water ejection port and the cleaning fluid ejection port, wherein the front section of the water receiving section is provided with a gas blowing port for blowing off the drops of water or the like adhered to a user's the hands. In this manner, the water ejection port, the cleaning fluid ejection port and the gas blowing port are situated at a position away from the cleaning fluid refilling port. Accordingly, when the cleaning fluid is refilled, the position does not have a bad influence on the function area of the water ejection port, the cleaning fluid ejection port and the gas blowing port. Further, since the blown drops of water or the like are received at the extension section, it is possible to prevent the drops of water or the like from polluting the counter or the like.
- If a lid is provided to cover the cleaning fluid refilling port and detachably mounted on the cleaning fluid refilling port by a detachable means, it is possible to prevent garbage or the like from entering the cleaning fluid refilling port.
- The detachable means comprises a concave area formed on the inner periphery of the cleaning fluid refilling port or on the outer periphery of the lid, a convex area formed on the outer periphery of the lid or on the inner periphery of the cleaning fluid refilling port to be inserted into the concave area for engagement, a groove section formed on the inner surface of the cleaning fluid refilling port or on the outer surface of the lid to let the convex area pass from the concave area, and a spring inserted between the inner periphery of the cleaning fluid refilling port and the outer periphery of the lid to energize the lid in the direction away from the cleaning fluid refilling port when the lid is mounted on the cleaning fluid refilling port. In this manner, engagement of the concave area of the cleaning fluid refilling port with the convex area of the lid rotates the lid and the convex area of the lid passes from the groove section to let the lid rise by the energizing force of the spring. Accordingly, the lid can be easily dismounted from the cleaning fluid refilling port using a simple construction.
- If the outside of the lid is provided with a grip for holding, the lid can be dismounted more easily.
- The detachable means has a lid provided with an inner joint which joins with the inner periphery of the cleaning fluid refilling port and an outer joint which joins with the outer periphery of the cleaning fluid refilling port, wherein the inner joint and the outer joint are partially cut out to form a cutout section into which an energizing member with a pressure contact section energized onto the inner periphery of the cleaning fluid refilling port is situated. Since engagement of the cleaning fluid refilling port with the lid is disengaged by reducing the energizing member against the energizing force, mounting of the lid on or dismounting thereof from the cleaning fluid refilling port can be easily performed with a simple construction.
- The detachable means has a lid made of an elastic body and formed in an arc shape in section so that the lid projects inside the water receiving section when mounted on the cleaning fluid refilling port, wherein the outer periphery of the lid is provided with an engaging section adapted to engage the cleaning fluid refilling port and the outer surface of the cleaning fluid refilling port is provided with a section to be engaged by the engaging section. When the central part thereof is pushed, the lid is bent backward in the arc shape to disengage the engagement with the cleaning fluid refilling port. In this manner, the lid can be easily dismounted from the cleaning fluid refilling port with a simple construction.
- The detachable means has a magnetic substance provided on either of the outer periphery of the lid or the inner periphery of the cleaning fluid refilling port and has a non-magnetic substance adapted to attach to the magnetic substance provided on the other. In this manner, mounting the lid on or dismounting thereof from the cleaning fluid refilling port can be easily performed with a simple construction.
- The magnetic substance and the non-magnetic substance are respectively provided at the symmetric position of the lid or the cleaning fluid refilling port, wherein the position of one is situated more inwardly than the other. By pushing part of the lid, the lid rises and can be easily dismounted.
- If a grip is provided on the outside of the lid for holding, the lid can be dismounted more easily.
- A connecting member is provided to connect the lid to the cleaning fluid refilling port. Even though the lid is dismounted from the cleaning fluid refilling port, the cleaning fluid refilling port and the lid are still connected together. It is therefore possible to prevent the loss of the lid.
- The lid is provided to cover the cleaning fluid refilling port, wherein the lid can be mounted on or dismounted from the cleaning fluid refilling port by a connecting means. With this construction, it is not only possible to prevent garbage or the like from entering the cleaning fluid refilling port, but also to prevent the loss of the lid.
- The connecting means is a hinge which can mount the lid on or dismount it from the cleaning fluid refilling. Opening and closing of the lid can be easily carried out with a simple construction.
- If the hinge is constructed to let the lid open and close forward, opening and closing operation of the lid can be easily performed.
- If the hinge is constructed to let the lid open and close inside the cleaning fluid refilling port, the lid does not hinder the refilling operation of the soapy water. Thus, the refilling operation can be easily performed.
- The lid is provided at its lower section with a weight to be brought into a closing condition by its own weight, and the cleaning fluid refilling port is provided on the water receiving section so that when closed, the lid becomes vertical or tilts to situate its lower end outside the water receiving section. With this construction, opening and closing of the lid can be easily performed.
- The lid is provided at its lower section with a weight to be brought into a closing condition by its own weight, and the cleaning fluid refilling port is provided on the water receiving section so that when closed, the lid is kept in a substantially vertical condition, wherein a magnetic substance is provided on either the lower section of the lid or the lower section of the cleaning fluid refilling port, while a non-magnetic substance adhered to the magnetic substance is provided on the other. In this manner, opening and closing of the lid can be easily performed and it is also possible to prevent the lid from opening unpreparedly.
- The connecting means comprises a rotating shaft provided on the lid, a through-hole provided on the cleaning fluid refilling port to let the rotating shaft insert therein, and an anti-slip member provided on the tip of the rotating shaft to prevent the shaft from slipping out of the through-hole. In this manner, opening and closing operation of the lid can be easily performed with a simple construction.
- There is also provided an engaging means for preventing the lid from opening unpreparedly. For example, even though the hand or the like touches the lid during action within the water receiving section, the lid does not simply open. Accordingly, usability of the hand-washing device not only improves, but also it is possible to prevent garbage or the like from entering the cleaning fluid refilling port.
- The engaging means has a magnetic substance provided on either the lid or the cleaning fluid refilling port and a non-magnetic substance adapted to adhere to the magnetic substance provided on the other. The engaging means is also provided to form an engaging section or a section to be engaged on the cleaning fluid refilling port and to from a section to be engaged or an engaging section on the lid for engaging with the engaging section or the section to be engaged of the cleaning fluid refilling port. In this manner, it is possible with a simple construction to prevent the lid from opening unpreparedly.
- If a strainer is provided to prevent dust or the like from entering the inside of the cleaning fluid refilling port, it is possible to prevent the dust or the like from entering the cleaning fluid refilling port when the cleaning fluid is refilled. Accordingly, it is possible to prevent a cleaning fluid supply route from being blocked by the dust or the like to stop discharging of the soapy water from the cleaning fluid ejection port. It is also possible to prevent damage of a pump or the like.
- If the strainer is provided with a grip and a stopper for positioning the strainer is provided inside the cleaning fluid refilling port, it is possible to easily carry out cleaning of dust or the like adhered to the strainer.
- There is provided a liquid level detecting means for detecting that the upper surface of the cleaning fluid within the cleaning fluid refilling port has reached a certain liquid level, and an information means for informing that the upper surface of the cleaning fluid has reached the certain liquid level based on the detection signal from the liquid level detecting means. In this manner, it is possible to easily grasp a filling condition of the cleaning fluid within the cleaning fluid refilling port when refilled and to prevent the cleaning fluid from overflowing therefrom.
- A float rising by buoyancy when the cleaning fluid refilling port is substantially filled with the cleaning fluid is provided inside the cleaning fluid refilling port. With this construction, it is possible to easily grasp the filling condition of the cleaning fluid within the cleaning fluid refilling port by the motion of the float when refilled. It is also possible to prevent the cleaning fluid from overflowing with a simple construction.
- The above and other objects, features and advantages of the present invention will become more apparent from the following description when taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings.

- Preferred embodiments of a first group of invention according to the present invention will now be described with reference to the: accompanying drawings. FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the external appearance showing a first embodiment of a hand-washing device according to the present invention. FIG. 2 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing the first embodiment of the hand-washing device according to the present invention.
- As shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, a hand-washing device A comprises a wash-
hand basin 1, a cleaningfluid supply device 2 for supplying the wash-hand basin 1 with a cleaning fluid such as a disinfecting fluid and soapy water for removing dirt and/or bacteria adhered to a user'shands 22, and a hot and coldwater supply device 3 for supplying hot or cold water. - The wash-
hand basin 1 is composed of a wash-hand basinmain body 11, anextension section 106 formed by extending upward a rear section of an overflow edge section 103 a of abowl section 103 formed in a concave shape of the wash-hand basinmain body 11, a cleaningfluid ejection port 13 provided on theextension section 106 to eject soapy water or the like, and awater ejection port 12 for ejecting hot or cold water. - The
extension section 106 is provided to tilt toward the front of thebowl section 103 and formed with a hollow section 106 c. A cleaningfluid ejection port 13 and awater ejection port 12 are respectively secured via fixingmembers extension section 106 by securingmeans 13 d and 12 d such as a screw from the front side of thebowl section 103. -
Hand detecting sensors 13 a and 12 a are also mounted on the fixingmembers - The wash-hand basin
main body 11 is made of pottery and provided with adrain port 105 at the central lowest position of thebowl section 103 to communicate with adrain pipe 15 disposed within acabinet section 100 described below. The wash-hand basinmain body 11 is kept in position by a method (e.g., a self-rimming method or a frame method) for engaging arim section 104 of the wash-hand basinmain body 11 and arear wall 106 d of theextension section 106 with anopening section 102 formed at a substantially central section of acounter 10. - The
counter 10 is, for example, made of an artificial marble in a flat plate shape and installed to cover the upper part of thecabinet section 100 provided thereunder. Disposed between the upper side of thecounter 10 and the lower side of therim section 104 and the rear wall 16 d of theextension section 106 is a sealing medium (not shown) to prevent water from entering thecabinet section 100. - The
cabinet section 100 is formed in a hollow box shape of which the front side is provided with adecorative panel 101 and houses the cleaningfluid supply device 2 and the hot and coldwater supply device 3 therein. - The cleaning
fluid supply device 2 consists of a cleaningfluid storing tank 19 for storing a cleaning fluid therein and a cleaningfluid pressure pump 18 for supplying the cleaning fluid stored within the cleaningfluid storing tank 19 under pressure. The cleaningfluid supply device 2 is provided to communicate and connect via a cleaningfluid supply hose 17 with the cleaningfluid ejection port 13 within the hollow section 106 c of theextension section 106. - On the other hand, the hot and cold
water supply device 3 consists ofstop cocks mixed cock 20 connected to thestop cocks mixed cock 20. The hot and coldwater supply device 3 is provided to communicate and connect via a hotwater supply hose 16 with thewater ejection port 12 within the hollow section 106 c of theextension section 106. - Installation of the wash-hand basin
main body 11 onto thecounter 10 is not limited to the self-rimming method or the frame method, but as shown in FIG. 3, the wash-hand basinmain body 11 can be installed by another method (i.e., an under-counter method) whereby a brim section 106 e continuously formed on the overflow edge section 103 a of thebowl section 103 and therear wall 106 d of theextension section 106 is positioned to engage with the lower surface side of thecounter 10. - The cleaning
fluid supply device 2 and the hot and coldwater supply device 3 are disposed within thecabinet section 100 so that they are not exposed, but only the lower section of the wash-hand basinmain body 11 can be covered. - Namely, as shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, a
casing 107 formed in a hollow box shape is firmly secured to a wall surface W using mounting screws 23. The wash-hand basinmain body 11 is thus installed by a method (e.g., the self-rimming method or the frame method) whereby arim section 104 of the wash-hand basinmain body 11 and therear wall 106 d of theextension section 106 are supported by engaging with anopening 108 formed on anopening section 108 provided on the substantially central section of thecasing 107. - Provided on the bottom wall107 a of the
casing 107 are an opening 109 through which adrain pipe 15 and a cleaningfluid supply hose 17 pass and anopening 110 through which a hotwater supply hose 16 passes. - A sealing medium (not shown) is provided between a
counter section 107 b on the upper side of thecasing 107 and a lower side of therim section 104 and therear wall 106 d of theextension 106 to prevent water form entering thecasing 107. - Further, the bottom wall107 a of the
casing 107 can be constructed to open and close so that installation of the wash-hand basinmain body 11 onto thecounter section 107 b of thecasing 107 is executed by the under-counter method in the same manner as the embodiment shown in FIG. 3. - Operation of the hand-washing device A as constructed above will be described hereunder.
- When a user inserts his
hands 22 into thebowl section 103 and stretches out them in front of ahand detecting sensor 13 a, a control section (not shown) controls to drive the cleaningfluid pressure pump 18 based on the detection signal from thehand detecting sensor 13 a to supply the cleaning fluid stored within the cleaningfluid storing tank 19 under pressure. In this manner, the cleaning fluid under pressure is ejected from the cleaningfluid ejection port 13 via the cleaningfluid supply hose 17 and the user carry out the motion to remove dirt and/or stains from hishands 22. - In this case, even though the ejected cleaning fluid strike the
hands 22 and scatter, the cleaning fluid drop direct into thebowl section 103 or adhere to the front wall 106 a of theextension section 106 before dropping into thebowl section 106. Accordingly, there is little possibility of polluting theperipheral counter 10 and the like. Further, since the wash-hand basinmain body 11 is made of pottery or ceramics, cleaning efficiency can be improved. Since the ejection motion of the cleaning fluid is automatically carried out by thehand detecting sensor 13 a, the user is not required to touch an appliance such as a lever for opening and closing operation and it is hygienic and good for the user's health. Further, since theextension section 106 serves as the conventional function case, it is possible not only to reduce the number of parts used and the number of execution man-hours, but also to easily carry out the execution works. Still further, since there is not produced a conventional clearance or gap, it is possible to improve the cleaning efficiency. - After removing dirt or stains from his
hands 22 using the cleaning fluid, the user stretches out hishands 22 in front of the hand detecting sensor 12 a, the control section (not shown) controls to drive a solenoid valve based on the detection signal from the hand detecting sensor 12 a. As a result, the hot water is ejected from thewater ejection port 12 via the hotwater supply hose 16 and the user starts washing his hands. - In this case, even though the ejected hot water strike the user's
hands 22 and scatter, the hot water drop direct into thebowl section 103 or adhere to the front wall 106 a of theextension section 106 before dropping into thebowl section 103. Accordingly, there is little possibility of polluting theperipheral counter 10 and the like and cleaning efficiency can be improved. Further, since the water ejecting motion can be automatically carried out by the hand detecting sensor 12 a, the user is not required to touch the appliance such as the opening/closing operation lever. It is therefore hygienic and good for the user's health. - The
extension section 106 of the wash-hand basinmain body 11 is provided behind the overflow edge section 103 a of thebowl section 103. However, it can also be provided on the right side or the left side of the overflow edge section 103 a of thebowl section 103, from the right side to the rear side, or from the left side to the rear side. - The wash-hand basin
main body 11 is not made of the pottery or ceramics, but made of the member such as a stainless steel which is superior in the cleaning efficiency. The area from thebowl section 103 to the front wall 106 a of theextension section 106 can be continuously and integrally made of the pottery or ceramics, while therear wall 106 d of theextension section 106 can be made of the member other than the pottery or ceramics. - FIG. 6 is a perspective view of the external appearance showing a second embodiment of a hand-washing device A according to the present invention and FIG. 7 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing the second embodiment of the hand-washing device A according to the present invention. The same construction as the first embodiment is indicated by the same reference numeral and the description for that will be omitted.
- As shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, there is provided on a front wall surface of the bowl section103 a
gas blowing port 27 for blowing gas for blowing off the drops of water or the like attached to the user's hands. Thegas blowing port 27 is arranged to blow the gas toward the lower side of thebowl section 103 and in the direction away from the user. - A chamber28 formed in a hollow shape is integrally formed with the
bowl section 103 on the reverse side of the wall surface of thebowl section 103 provided with thegas blowing port 27. Anadapter 26 is connected to the chamber 28. - A
gas supply device 24 consisting of an air blower and the like for supplying thegas blowing port 27 with high-pressure gas is provided within thecabinet 100. One end of anair duct 25 is connected to thegas supply device 24 and the other end is connected to theadapter 26. - Provided near the
gas blowing port 27 is a hand detecting sensor 27 a for detecting the user's hands inserted into thebowl section 103 and driving thegas supply device 24. - Operation of the hand-washing device A constructed above will now be described.
- A user inserts his
hands 22 into thebowl section 103 and stretches out thehands 22 in front of thehand detecting sensor 13 a to allow the cleaning fluid to eject from the cleaningfluid ejection port 13. After removing dirt or stains from thehands 22, the user stretches out thehands 22 in front of the hand detecting sensor 12 a to allow the hot water to eject from thewater ejection port 12 and washes thehands 22. Then, when the user stretches out thehands 22 in front of the hand detecting sensor 27 a, the control section (not shown) controls to drive thegas supply device 24 based on the detection signal from the hand detecting sensor 27 a. In this manner, the gas is introduced into the chamber 28 via theair duct 25 and the pressure is uniformalized within the chamber 28. As a result, the gas is blown all over the inserted hands from thegas blowing port 27 at the uniform or constant velocity of wind to start drying thehands 22. - In this manner, since the user can dry his
hands 22 immediately after hand-washing, usability of the hand-washing device A improves. Since thecounter 10, a floor or the like is not dirtied or polluted with the drops of water or the like adhered to hishands 22, it is possible to keep the space clean. Further, since thehands 22 can be inserted within thebowl section 103 for drying, there is little possibility that the drops of water or the like blown off from thehands 22 dirty or pollute thecounter 10 or the like, and the cleanliness can be further improved. By situating thegas blowing port 27 on the front wall surface of thebowl section 103 near the user, the gas blown from thegas blowing port 27 is blown off in the direction away from the user. Accordingly, there is little possibility that after striking thehands 22, the gas strike the user to rumple or dishevel his hairstyle or the drops of water or the like blown off by the gas splash onto the user. It is therefore possible to obtain a comfortable feeling of use. Further, since the drops of water or the like blown off by the gas can be caught at theextension section 106, there is little possibility that a wall surface W to which the hand-washing device A is secured is dirtied or polluted with scattering of drops of water or the like. Still further, since the blowing motion of gas is automatically made by the hand detecting sensor 27 a, the user is not required to touch the appliance or the like and it is hygienic and good for his health. Since the chamber 28 is also integrally formed with thebowl section 103, it is possible to reduce the number of parts used and reduce the cost as well. - Furthermore, an operation switch (not shown) can be provided in position to switch ON when the wash-
hand basin 1 is cleaned, and the control section (not shown) can prevent the cleaningfluid supply device 2, the hot and coldwater supply device 3 and the gas supply device 34 from operating for a certain period of time. In this manner, it is possible to prevent the cleaning fluid or the hot water from scattering to dirty or pollute thecounter 10, the wall surface W or the like. It is also possible to prevent the cleaning fluid, the hot water or electricity from wastefully being consumed. - Installation of the wash-hand basin
main body 11 onto thecounter 10 can be effected by the under-counter method as per the embodiment shown in FIG. 3. However, it is also possible to adopt thecasing 107 formed in the hollow box shape as per the embodiment shown in FIGS. 4 and 5 in place of thecabinet 100. - FIG. 8 is a perspective view of the external appearance showing a third embodiment of a hand-washing device A according to the present invention and FIG. 9 is a schematic cross-sectional view showing the third embodiment of the hand-washing device A according to the present invention. In these figures, the same reference numerals are used for the same construction as the first and second embodiments and the description for that will be omitted.
- As shown in FIGS. 8 and 9, an opening section106 b formed on a front wall 106 a of the
extension section 106 is provided with agas blowing port 29. Provided near thegas blowing port 29 is a hand detecting sensor 29 a for detecting thehands 22 inserted into thebowl section 103 to drive thegas supply device 24. - A
chamber 30 is integrally formed with thegas blowing port 29 within a hollow section 106 c of theextension section 106. One end of anair duct 25 is connected to thechamber 30. - Even in such a construction, the user can dry his
hands 22 without shifting his position and therefore, usability of the hand-washing device A improves. Further, since thecounter 10 of the wash-hand basin 1, a floor or the like is not dirtied or polluted with the drops of water and the like adhered to thehands 22, clean space can be maintained. - In this embodiment, it is not always necessary to let the high-pressure gas blow. The hand-washing device A can be designed to let the gas blow at a low speed from the
gas blowing port 29 to reduce the possibility that the scattered water such as the drops of water adhered to thehands 22 splash onto the user. - It is to be noted that the above description only relates to one embodiment of the present invention and it does not mean that the present invention is limited to the above. For example, the hot and cold water
mixed cock 20 is provided as the hot and coldwater supply device 3 to supply thewater ejection port 12 with the hot water. However, only water can be supplied to thewater ejection port 12 without provision of the hot and cold watermixed cock 20. - Further, the chamber28 is integrally formed with the
bowl section 103, but it can be formed using the other member such as synthetic resins. It is also possible to provide a heating means such as a heater in a supply route of gas from thegas supply device 24 to thegas blowing ports gas blowing port 27. - Next, preferred embodiments of a second group of invention according to the present invention will be explained with reference to the accompanying drawings. FIG. 10 is a perspective view of the external appearance showing the entire structure of a hand-washing device according to the present invention and FIG. 11 is a front view showing the internal space of the lower section of a counter.
- As shown in FIGS. 10 and 11, a hand-washing device B is composed of a
counter 59 and a wash-hand basinmain body 58 fitted into thecounter 59. The wash-hand basin main body consists of a soapywater ejection port 53 and awater ejection port 54 which are provided on anextension section 52 a formed by extending upward a rear section of awater receiving section 52, a soapywater refilling port 56 provided on a side of thewater receiving section 52, agas blowing port 55 provided on a front section of thewater receiving section 52, and adrain port 57 provided on a lower section of thewater receiving section 52. - The
water receiving section 52 is formed in a substantially oval shape which is wide in a lateral direction. The soapywater refilling port 56 is provided on the left side of the figure.Reference numeral 62 is a soapy water refilling container A polyethylene bottle of 2 liters with the length of 350 mm which is usually used as a plastic bottle for drinking water generally put on the market can be used as the soapywater refilling container 62. It is therefore desirable that the long dimension of thewater receiving section 52 in the lateral direction be 350 mm or more. With this construction, since the soapywater refilling container 62 is easily housed in the lateral direction within thewater receiving section 52, it is possible to simply refill the soapy water in a comfortable position from the soapywater refilling port 56 within thewater receiving section 52. Even though the soapy water spills out of the soapywater refilling port 56, it is possible to easily clean away the spilt soapy water. - It is also desirable that the soapy
water refilling port 56 be situated at a position of about ⅓ depth (desirably about 100 mm from the upper end) from the upper end of the depth of thewater receiving section 52 from the upper end to the bottom surface thereof. In such a construction, since an inlet of the soapywater refilling container 62 can be easily situated relative to the soapywater refilling port 56 when the soapy water is refilled, it is possible to easily carry out the refilling operation without spilling the soapy water. - The wash-hand basin
main body 58 is installed at the substantially central section of thecounter 59 by a method such as a self-rimming method or a frame method. - A
cabinet section 51 is provided under thecounter 59. Housed within thecabinet section 51 are a soapy water supply means 63 for supplying the soapywater ejection port 53 with the soapy water, awater supply section 66 for supplying thewater ejection port 54 with water, and a gas supply means 67 for supplying thegas blowing port 55 with high-pressure gas. - The soapy water supply means63 is composed of a
tank 64 for filling the soapy water, the soapywater refilling port 56 for refilling the soapy water into thetank 64, asupply route 65 for allowing thetank 64 to communicate with the soapywater refilling port 56, and a pump P for supplying the soapywater ejection port 53 with the soapy water within thetank 64 via a soapywater supply route 68. - The
water supply section 66 is provided to communicate and connect with thewater ejection port 54 via a water supply pipe 69, while the gas supply means 67 is provided to communicate and connect with thegas blowing port 55 via agas supply pipe 70. - Hand detecting means60 and 61 are provided near the soapy
water ejection port 53 and thewater ejection port 54 respectively to detect the hands stretched out by the user. A control section (not shown) is provided to control an ejection motion from the soapywater ejection port 53 and an ejection motion from thewater ejection port 54 based on the detection signal from thehand detecting means - Further, a hand detecting means (not shown) is provided near the
gas blowing port 55 to detect the hands stretched out by the user. A control section (not shown) is also provided to control a gas blowing motion from thegas blowing port 55 based on the detection signal from the hand detecting means. - Operation of the hand-washing device B constructed above will now be explained.
- When making a hand washing motion, the user stretches out his hands near the soapy
water ejection port 53. The hand detecting means 60 detects the hands and the detection signal is then inputted to the control section. The pump P is actuated to allow the soapywater ejection port 53 to eject the soapy water via thetank 64 and the soapywater supply route 68. In this manner, the user can now make a motion to remove dirt, bacteria or the like adhered to his hands. - Next, when the user stretches out his hands near the
water ejection port 54, the hands are detected by thehand detecting means 61 and the detection signal is inputted to the control section. Thewater supply section 66 is then actuated to allow thewater ejection port 54 to eject water via the water supply pipe 69. In this manner, the user can now make a motion to wash away the soapy water attached or adhered to the hands. - After the hand-washing motion, when the user stretches out his wet hands near the
gas blowing port 55, the hands are detected by the hand detecting means (not shown) and the detection signal is inputted to the control section. The gas supply means 67 is then actuated to allow the gas blowing port to blow off the high-pressure gas via thegas supply pipe 70. In this manner, water or the like attached or adhered to the hands are blown off to start drying the hands. - The ejected soapy water, the ejected water, blown water or the like are then discharged from the
drain port 57. - When refilled, the soapy water is refilled from the soapy
water refilling port 56 using the soapywater refilling container 62 or the like to be stored in thetank 64 via thesupply route 65. - FIG. 12 is a partially cross-sectional view showing a detachable means between a
lid 71 and a soapywater refilling port 56 and FIG. 13 is a cross-sectional view taken along line X-X of FIG. 12. - As shown in FIGS. 12 and 13, the
lid 71 is detachably mounted on the entrance to the soapywater refilling port 56 by a detachable means. Thelid 71 is designed to cover the soapywater refilling port 56 except when the soapy water is refilled. - The detachable means is composed of a
concave area 56 a formed on the inner periphery of the soapywater refilling port 56, aconvex area 71 a formed on the outer periphery of thelid 71 to be inserted into theconcave area 56 a for engagement, a groove area 71 b formed on the inner surface of the soapywater refilling port 56 to allow theconvex area 71 a to pass from theconcave area 56 a, and aspring 72 inserted between the inner periphery of the soapywater refilling port 56 and the outer periphery of thelid 71 to energize thelid 71 in the direction away from the soapywater refilling port 56 when thelid 71 is mounted on the soapywater refilling port 56.Reference numeral 71 c is a grip section for holding thelid 71. - When the
lid 71 is rotated by holding thegrip section 71 c as shown by the arrow of FIG. 13, theconvex area 71 a of thelid 71 moves along theconcave area 56 a of the soapywater refilling port 56. When theconvex area 71 a reaches the position of the groove area 71 b, the engagement of theconvex area 71 a with theconcave area 56 a is disengaged, and thelid 71 is caused to rise by the energizing force of thespring 72. In this manner, thelid 71 can be easily dismounted from the soapywater refilling port 56. - Thus, mounting of the
lid 71 on or dismounting thereof from the soapywater refilling port 56 can be easily carried out in a simple construction. In addition, it is possible to prevent garbage or the like from entering the soapywater refilling port 56. - It is also possible to form the convex area on the soapy
water refilling port 56 and to form the concave area and the groove area on thelid 71. - FIG. 14 is a partially cross-sectional view showing another embodiment of a detachable means between the
lid 71 and the soapywater refilling port 56 and FIG. 15 is a rear view of thelid 71 as seen from the back. - As shown in FIGS. 14 and 15, the detachable means is constructed to have the
lid 71 provided with an inner joint 71 e for jointing with theinner periphery 56 c of the soapywater refilling port 56 and with an outer joint 71 d for jointing with theouter periphery 56 d of the soapywater refilling port 56. The inner joint 71 e and the outer joint 71 d are partially cut out to provide acutout section 71 f in which an energizingmember 74 with apressure contact section 74 a energizing toward theinner periphery 56 c of the soapywater refilling port 56 is situated. - Accordingly, when the
lid 71 is dismounted from the soapywater refilling port 56, the energizingmember 74 is reduced against the energizing force to loosen thepressure contact section 74 a of the energizingmember 74 pressing against theinternal periphery 56 c of the soapywater refilling port 56. In this manner, thelid 71 can be dismounted or removed from the soapywater refilling port 56. When thelid 71 is mounted on the soapywater refilling port 56, the energizingmember 74 is likewise reduced against the energizing force to allow thelid 71 to be inserted into the soapywater refilling port 56. Once reduction of the energizingmember 74 is released, thepressure contact section 74 a of the energizingmember 74 is driven to contact theinternal periphery 56 c of the soapywater refilling port 56 by its energizing force. In this manner, thelid 71 can be mounted on the soapywater refilling port 56. - Even in such a construction, the
lid 71 can be detachably mounted on the soapywater refilling port 56 using a simple construction without difficulty. It is also possible to prevent the garbage or the like from entering the soapywater refilling port 56. - The energizing
members 74 are first reduced from both sides to allow twopressure contact sections 74 a to forcibly contact theinner periphery 56 c of the soapywater refilling port 56. However, the present invention is not limited to this embodiment. For example, only one side of the energizingmembers 74 can be reduced to allow onepressure contact section 74 a to forcibly contact theinner periphery 56 c of the soapywater refilling section 56. It is also possible to provide two or morepressure contact sections 74. - FIG. 16 is a partially cross-sectional view showing a still further embodiment of a detachable means between the
lid 71 and the soapywater refilling port 56. - As shown in FIG. 16, when the
lid 71 is made of an elastic body and mounted on the soapywater refilling port 56, thelid 71 is formed to have an arc shape in section so that it projects inside thewater receiving section 52. Thelid 71 is also provided on the outer periphery thereof with an engagingsection 71 g for engaging the soapywater refilling port 56, while the soapywater refilling port 56 is provided on its outer surface with asection 56 e to be engaged by the engagingsection 71 g. - Accordingly, when the
lid 71 is dismounted or removed from the soapywater refilling port 56, the central part of thelid 71 is pushed. As a result, thelid 71 is bent backward in the arc shape to disengage the engagingsection 71 g from thesection 56 e to be engaged. In this manner, thelid 71 can be dismounted or removed from the soapywater refilling port 56. - Even in such a construction, the
lid 71 can be detachably mounted on the soapywater refilling port 56 with a simple construction without difficulty. It is also possible to prevent the garbage or the like from entering the soapywater refilling port 56. - FIG. 17 is a partially cross-sectional view showing a still further embodiment of a detachable means between the
lid 71 and the soapywater refilling port 56. - As shown in FIG. 17, the
lid 71 is respectively provided withmagnets magnet 75 is situated inside thelid 71 more inward than theother magnet 75.Metal members magnets water refilling port 56. - Accordingly, when the
lid 71 is removed or dismounted from the soapywater refilling port 56, the outer periphery of thelid 71 in which themagnet 75 is situated at the more inward position inside thelid 71 than theother magnet 75 is pushed. As a result, adhesion or magnetic attraction of theother magnet 75 to themetal member 76 is removed or disengaged by the leverage to let thelid 71 rise. In this manner, thelid 71 can be easily dismounted or removed from the soapywater refilling port 56. - It is to be noted that one
magnet 75 is not necessarily situated inside thelid 71, but two or a plurality of magnets can be situated on the outer periphery of thelid 71, and the metal members adhered or attracted to those magnets can be provided on the soapywater refilling port 56. In this case, it is desirable that a grip section for holding thelid 71 be provided outside thelid 71. - Further, the magnets can be provided on the soapy
water refilling port 56 and the metal members adhered to the magnets can be provided on thelid 71. - Even in such a construction, the
lid 71 can be detachably mounted on the soapywater refilling port 56 using a simple construction without difficulty. It is also possible to prevent the garbage or the like from entering the soapywater refilling port 56. - In each embodiment shown in FIGS. 12 through 17, a connecting member such as a chain for connecting the
lid 71 to the soapywater refilling port 56 can be provided to prevent the loss of thelid 71. - FIG. 18 is a partially cross-sectional view showing a connecting means between the soapy
water refilling port 56 and thelid 71. - As shown in FIG. 18, there is provided a
hinge 77 for connecting thelid 71 to the soapywater refilling port 56 at the lower section of the soapywater refilling port 56 and thelid 71, and thelid 71 is designed to open and close forward. - With this construction, it is not only possible to easily perform an opening and closing operation of the soapy
water refilling port 56 and thelid 71 in a simple construction, but also to prevent the garbage or the like from entering the soapywater refilling port 56. In addition, it is possible to prevent the loss of thelid 71. - The
hinge 77 can not only be provided at the lower section of the soapywater refilling port 56 and thelid 72, but also on a section on the circumference of the soapywater refilling port 56 and thelid 71. - FIG. 19 is a partially cross-sectional view showing another embodiment of the connecting means between the soapy
water refilling port 56 and thelid 71. - As shown in FIG. 19, the
hinge 77 for connecting thelid 71 to the soapywater refilling port 56 is provided at the upper section of the soapywater refilling port 56 and thelid 71. There is also provided astopper section 56 f at the upper edge section of the soapywater refilling port 56 to prevent thelid 71 from opening forward. Thelid 71 is designed to open and close inside the soapywater refilling port 56. - The
lid 71 is also provided at its lower section with aweight 78 to be brought into a closing condition by its own weight. The soapywater refilling port 56 is provided on thewater receiving section 52 so that thelid 71 is kept in a substantially vertical condition when closed. Amagnet 89 is provided at the lower section of thelid 71, and ametal member 90 to which themagnet 89 is attracted is provided at the lower section of the soapywater refilling port 56. - With this construction, when the soapy water is refilled, the refilling operation can be easily performed because the
lid 71 does not hinder the operation, and opening and closing of thelid 71 can be carried out easily. It is also possible to prevent thelid 71 from opening unpreparedly. - Without provision of the
weight 78, thelid 71 itself can be formed to have its center of gravity positioned at the lower section. Further, when thelid 71 is closed, the soapywater refilling port 56 can be provided on thewater receiving section 52 so that thelid 71 becomes vertical or the lower section of thelid 71 tilts to be situated outside thewater receiving section 52. In this case, it is not necessary to provide themagnet 89 and themetal member 90. - FIG. 20 is a partially cross-sectional view showing a still further embodiment of the connecting means between the soapy
water refilling port 56 and thelid 71. - As shown in FIG. 20, the connecting means is composed of a
rotating shaft 71 h provided at a lower section of thelid 71, a through-hole 56 g provided on the soapywater refilling port 56 to cause therotating shaft 71 h to pass therethrough, and ananti-slip member 71 i provided at the tip section of therotating shaft 71 h to prevent therotating shaft 71 h from slipping out of the through-hole 56 g. - In this manner, the
lid 71 can rotate in the lateral direction round the rotatingshaft 71 h and as a result, opening and closing operation of thelid 71 can be easily performed with a simple construction. - The rotating
shaft 71 h, the through-hole 56 g and theanti-slip member 71 i can not only be provided at the lower section of the soapywater refilling port 56 and thelid 71, but also provided at a section on the circumference of the soapywater refilling port 56 and thelid 71. - In each embodiment shown in FIGS. 18 through 20, an engaging means can be provided as shown in FIG. 21 to prevent the
lid 71 from opening unpreparedly. - Namely, the engaging means has a
magnet 79 provided at the position of thelid 71 corresponding to thehinge 77 provided to connect thelid 71 to the soapywater refilling port 56, and has ametal member 80 adhered to themagnet 79 on the soapywater refilling port 56. - With this construction, when the soapy
water refilling port 56 is covered or closed by thelid 71, themagnet 79 provided on thelid 71 firmly adheres or attracts to themetal member 80 provided on the soapywater refilling port 56. Accordingly, even though the hands or the like touch thelid 71 by accident during action within thewater receiving section 52, thelid 71 will not be easily opened. Thus, usability can not only improve, but also the garbage or the like can be prevented from entering the soapywater refilling port 56. - The magnet can be provided on the soapy
water refilling port 56, while the metal member adhered to the magnet can also be provided on thelid 71. Although themagnet 79 and themetal member 80 are provided at the position corresponding to thehinge 77, they can also be provided at a section on the circumference of thelid 71 and the soapywater refilling port 56. - FIG. 22 is a partially cross-sectional view showing another embodiment of the engaging means.
- As shown in. FIG. 22, a
convex area 82 with elasticity as an engaging section is provided at the position of thelid 71 corresponding to thehinge 77 provided to connect thelid 71 to soapywater refilling port 56. The soapywater refilling port 56 is provided with aconcave area 81 as a section to be engaged into which theconvex area 82 is fitted for engagement. - Even in such a construction, when the soapy
water refilling port 56 is closed or covered by thelid 71, theconvex area 82 provided on thelid 71 is inserted into the soapywater refilling port 56 while being bent. Since theconvex area 82 is then fitted into theconcave area 81 provided on the soapywater refilling port 56 by the elastic force and fitted therein for engagement, it is possible to prevent thelid 71 from being opened unpreparedly. - In this case, the concave area can be provided on the
lid 71, while the convex area can be provided on the soapywater refilling port 56. Although theconvex area 82 and theconcave area 81 are provided at the position corresponding to thehinge 77, they can also be provided at a section on the circumference of thelid 71 and the soapywater refilling port 56. - FIG. 23 is a partially cross-sectional view showing an embodiment in which a
strainer 83 is provided on the soapywater refilling port 56, wherein the same construction as the embodiment shown in FIG. 17 is denoted by the same reference numeral and the description for that will be omitted. - As shown in FIG. 23, the
strainer 83 is provided inside the soapywater refilling port 56 to prevent dust or the like from entering therein. - The
strainer 83 is provided with agrip section 85, and astopper 84 is provided within the soapywater refilling port 56 to put thestrainer 83 in position. - With this construction, it is possible to prevent dust or the like from entering the soapy
water refilling port 56 when the soapy water is refilled. Accordingly, it is possible to avoid the problem that the soapywater supply route 68 is blocked with the dust or the like and the soapy water is not ejected from the soapywater ejection port 53 or a pump P is damaged. In addition, since thestrainer 83 can be easily taken out of the soapywater refilling port 56 using thegrip section 85, it is possible to easily perform cleaning of the dust or the like attached or adhered to thestrainer 83. - FIG. 24 is a partially cross-sectional view showing an embodiment in which a liquid
level detecting means 86 is provided, wherein the same construction as the embodiment shown in FIG. 23 is denoted by the same reference numeral and the description for that will be omitted. - As shown in FIG. 24, there is provided inside the soapy
water refilling port 56 the liquidlevel detecting means 86 for detecting that the upper surface of the soapy water within the soapywater refilling port 56 has reached a predetermined liquid level. - Provided on the soapy
water refilling port 56 inside thewater receiving section 52 is abuzzer transmitter 87 serving as an information means. When the upper surface of the soapy water within the soapywater refilling port 56 reaches a certain liquid level, the liquid level is detected by the liquidlevel detecting means 86 and the detection signal is then inputted to the control section (not shown). The control section is designed to output the signal to thebuzzer transmitter 87 for buzzing. - In such a construction, it is possible to easily grasp the filling condition of the soapy water within the soapy
water refilling port 56 when the soapy water is refilled and to prevent the soapy water from overflowing from the soapywater refilling port 56. - As the liquid
level detecting means 86, one of a photoelectric sensor, a float switch, an electrode sensor, an ultrasonic sensor and an electrostatic capacity sensor can be use. The ultrasonic sensor and the electrostatic capacity sensor are not only provided inside the soapywater refilling port 56, but also can be provided near thewater receiving section 52. - The
buzzer transmitter 87 is provided on the soapywater refilling port 56 inside thewater receiving section 52, but it can be provided on the periphery of thewater receiving section 52 or on thecounter 59. Further, thebuzzer transmitter 87 is provided as the information means, but the information means may be a speech sound, lighting/blinking of a lamp or character information. - FIG. 25 is a partially cross-sectional view showing an embodiment in which a
float 88 is provided, wherein the same construction as the embodiment shown in. FIG. 23 is denoted by the same reference numeral and the description for that will be omitted. - As shown in FIG. 25, the
strainer 83 provided inside the soapywater refilling port 56 is provided with thefloat 88. - The
float 88 is composed of afloat member 88 adapted to vertically move by the buoyancy according to the vertical movement of the liquid level, astopper member 88 b vertically moving in response to the vertical movement of thefloat member 88 a and normally sitting on thestrainer 83, and a connectingmember 88 c for connecting thefloat member 88 a to thestopper member 88 b. The connectingmember 88 c is slidably inserted into a through-hole 83 a formed in thestrainer 83. - In such a construction, when the soapy water is refilled, if the soapy
water refilling port 56 is substantially full of the soapy water, thefloat member 88 a rises by its buoyancy and thestopper member 88 b rises from thestrainer 83. In this manner, it is possible to easily grasp the filling condition of the soapy water within the soapywater refilling port 56 and to prevent the soapy water from overflowing from the soapywater refilling port 56 using a simple construction. - It should be understood that the above-mentioned contents only relate to one embodiment of the present invention and it does not mean that the present invention is limited to the above. For example, although the
extension section 52 a formed by extending upward the rear section of thewater receiving section 52 is provided with the soapywater ejection port 53 and thewater ejection port 54, theextension section 52 a is not provided, but a soapy water ejection port and a water ejection port can be independently provided on thecounter 59. Further, as seen in the prior art, a function case can be provided on thecounter 59 to provide the soapy water ejection port and the water ejection port. - The soapy
water ejection port 53 is designed to eject the soapy water, but it is also possible to let eject the soapy water in a mousse shape, a disinfecting solution or the like. - Further, in the description above, water is ejected from the
water ejection port 54 by controlling thewater supply section 66, but a hot and cold water supply section can be provided to let the hot water eject from thewater ejection port 54. - As described above, a wash-hand basin or a hand-washing device according to the present invention is suitable for installation in an ordinary household, a public toilet or washroom or the like.
Claims (52)
1. A wash-hand basin comprising:
a wash-hand basin main body;
an extension section formed by extending upward a section of an overflow edge section of a bowl section of the wash-hand basin main body; and
a cleaning fluid ejection port provided on the extension section to eject soapy water for removing dirt and bacteria adhered to a user's hands.
2. The wash-hand basin according to claim 1 , wherein the cleaning fluid ejection port is designed to eject the soapy water toward the bottom side of the bowl section.
3. The wash-hand basin according to claim 1 or claim 2 , wherein the extension section is formed by extending upward a rear section of the overflow edge section of the bowl section.
4. A wash-hand basin comprising:
a wash-hand basin main body;
an extension section formed by extending upward a section of an overflow edge section of a bowl section of the wash-hand basin main body; and
a water ejection port provided on the extension section to eject hot or cold water.
5. The wash-hand basin according to claim 4 , wherein the water ejection port is designed to eject water or hot water toward the bottom side of the bowl section.
6. The wash-hand basin according to claim 4 or claim 5 , wherein the extension section is formed by extending upward a rear section of the overflow edge section of the bowl section.
7. A wash-hand basin comprising:
a wash-hand basin main body;
an extension section formed by extending upward a section of an overflow edge section of a bowl section of the wash-hand basin main body; and
a gas blowing port provided on the extension section to blow gas for blowing off drops of water adhered to a user's hands.
8. A wash-hand basin characterized in that a gas blowing port for blowing gas for blowing off drops of water adhered to a user's hands is provided on a bowl section other than an extension section.
9. The wash-hand basin according to claim 8 , wherein the gas blowing port is provided on the front section of the bowl section.
10. The wash-hand basin according to claim 8 or claim 9 , wherein the gas blowing port is provided with a blowing axis for blowing gas downward or in the substantially horizontal direction.
11. The wash-hand basin according to claims 8 through 10, wherein the gas blowing port is provided of which the blowing axis is orientated to the extension section and situated at a position lower than the top of the extension section.
12. The wash-hand basin according to claim 9 or claim 11 , wherein the bowl section is provided at its the front section with a hollow chamber which functions as an air duct for supplying the gas blowing port with gas.
13. The wash-hand basin according to claims 1 through 12, wherein the wash-hand basin main body is made of pottery.
14. The wash-hand basin according to claims 1 through 13, wherein a hand detecting means is provided to detect a user's hands stretched out in front of the cleaning fluid ejection port, the water ejection port or the gas blowing port and respectively disposed near the cleaning fluid ejection port, the water ejection port or the gas blowing port.
15. The wash-hand basin according to claim 14 , wherein the hand detecting means is integrally formed with the cleaning fluid ejection port, the water ejection port or the gas blowing port.
16. The wash-hand basin according to claims 1 through 15, wherein the extension section is formed to tilt in the front direction of the bowl section.
17. The wash-hand basin according to claims 1 through 16, wherein the extension section is provided with an opening section for mounting the cleaning fluid ejection port, the water ejection port or the gas blowing port, and the cleaning fluid ejection port, the water ejection port or the gas blowing port is mounted on the opening section from the bowl section side via a fitting member.
18. A hand-washing device comprising:
a wash-hand basin main body;
an extension section formed by extending upward a section of an overflow edge section of a bowl section of the wash-hand basin main body;
a cleaning fluid ejection port for ejecting soapy water for removing dirt and bacteria adhered to a user's hands onto the extension section; and
a cleaning fluid supply device for supplying the cleaning fluid ejection port with soapy water.
19. A hand-washing device comprising:
a wash-hand basin main body;
an extension section formed by extending upward a section of an overflow edge section of a bowl section of the wash-hand basin main body;
a water ejection port for ejecting hot or cold water onto the extension section; and
a hot and cold water supply device for supplying the water ejection port with hot or cold water.
20. A hand-washing device comprising:
a wash-hand basin main body;
an extension section formed by extending upward a section of an overflow edge section of a bowl section of the wash-hand basin main body;
gas blowing port for blowing gas for blowing off drops of water adhered to a user's hands onto the extension section; and
a gas supply device for supplying the gas blowing port with gas.
21. A hand-washing device comprising:
a gas blowing port for blowing gas for blowing off drops of water adhered to a user's hands onto a bowl section other than an extension section; and
a gas supply device for supplying the gas blowing port with gas.
22. The hand-washing device according to claim 20 or claim 21 , wherein the gas supply device is provided to supply the gas blowing port with high-pressure gas.
23. The hand-washing device according to claims 18 through 22, wherein there is provided a hand detecting means for detecting a user's hands stretched out in front of the cleaning fluid ejection port, the water ejection port or the gas blowing port, a control section for controlling drive of the cleaning fluid supply device, the hot and cold water supply device or the gas supply device based on the detection signal from the hand detecting means, and an operating switch, wherein when an actuating signal by the operating switch is inputted, the control section controls to invalidate the detection signal by the hand detecting means for a certain period of time.
24. The hand-washing device according to claim 23 , wherein the control of invalidation of the hand detection signal by the operating switch for a certain period of time is removed if input by the operating switch is executed again within the certain period of time.
25. The hand-washing device according to claims 18 through 24, wherein a counter for mounting the wash-hand basin main body is provided, the extension section is provided with a hollow section, and a rear wall of the extension section is formed to extend at a position upper than the upper or lower surface of the counter, wherein a connecting member for connecting and communicating the cleaning fluid ejection port, the water ejection port or the gas blowing port with the cleaning fluid supply device, the hot and cold water supply device or the gas supply device is connected to the cleaning fluid ejection port, the water ejection port or the gas blowing port via the hollow section.
26. A hand-washing device comprising:
a water ejection port for ejecting hot or cold water;
a cleaning fluid ejection port for ejecting soapy water for removing dirt and bacteria adhered to a user's hands;
a cleaning fluid supply means for supplying the cleaning fluid ejection port with a cleaning fluid;
a water receiving section for receiving water from the water ejection port and the cleaning fluid from the cleaning fluid ejection port; and
a drain port provided at the lower section of the water receiving section;
characterized in that the cleaning fluid supply means comprises a tank for filling the cleaning fluid, a cleaning fluid refilling port for refilling the cleaning fluid into the tank, a supply route for communicating the tank with the cleaning fluid refilling port, and a pump for supplying the cleaning fluid ejection port with the cleaning fluid within the tank via a cleaning fluid supply route; and
wherein the cleaning fluid refilling port is provided inside the water receiving section.
27. The hand-washing device according to claim 26 , wherein the water receiving section is formed in a substantially oval shape which is wide in a lateral direction, and the cleaning fluid refilling port is provided on either side of the left or the right of the water receiving section.
28. The hand-washing device according to claim 26 or claim 27 , wherein the cleaning fluid refilling port is situated at a position of about ⅓ depth from the upper end of the depth of the water receiving section from the upper end to the bottom surface.
29. The hand-washing device according to claims 26 through 28, wherein the water receiving section is provided with an extension section formed by extending upward the rear section thereof, and the extension section is provided with the water ejection port and the cleaning fluid ejection port, wherein the front section of the water receiving section is provided with a gas blowing port for blowing off drops of water adhered to a user's hands.
30. The hand-washing device according to claims 26 through 29, wherein a lid is provided to cover the cleaning fluid refilling port, and the lid is detachably mounted on the cleaning fluid refilling port by a detachable means.
31. The hand-washing device according to claim 30 , wherein the detachable means comprises a concave area formed on the inner periphery of the cleaning fluid refilling port or on the outer periphery of the lid, a convex area formed on the outer periphery of the lid or inner periphery of the cleaning fluid refilling port to be inserted into the concave area for engagement, a groove formed on the inner surface of the cleaning fluid refilling port or on the outer surface of the lid to let the convex area pass from the concave area, and a spring inserted between the inner periphery of the cleaning fluid refilling port and the outer periphery of the lid to energize the lid in the direction away from the cleaning fluid refilling port when the lid is mounted on the cleaning fluid refilling port.
32. The hand-washing device according to claim 30 or claim 31 , wherein there is provided on the outside of the lid a grip for holding the lid.
33. The hand-washing device according to claim 30 , wherein the detachable means has an inner joint for joining the inner periphery of the cleaning fluid refilling port and an outer joint for joining the outer periphery of the cleaning fluid refilling port, both formed on the lid, and the inner joint and the outer joint are partially cut out to provide a cutout section in which an energizing member having a pressure contact section energizing onto the inner periphery of the cleaning fluid refilling port is situated.
34. The hand-washing device according to claim 30 , wherein the detachable means is provided to have the lid made of an elastic body, and when mounted on the cleaning fluid refilling port, the lid is formed in an arc shape in section to project inside the water receiving section, wherein the outer periphery of lid is provided with an engaging section for engaging with the cleaning fluid refilling port, while the outer surface of the cleaning fluid refilling port is provided with a section to be engaged by the engaging section of the lid.
35. The hand-washing device according to claim 30 , wherein the detachable means has a magnetic substance provided on either the outer periphery of the lid or the inner periphery of the cleaning fluid refilling port and has a non-magnetic substance adhered to the magnetic substance provided on the other.
36. The hand-washing device according to claim 35 , wherein the magnetic substance and the non-magnetic substance are respectively situated at a symmetrical position of the lid or the cleaning fluid refilling port, and one is situated at the more inward position than the other.
37. The hand-washing device according to claim 35 or claim 36 , wherein there is provided a grip for holding the lid on the outside of the lid.
38. The hand-washing device according to claims 30 through 37, wherein there is provided a connecting member for connecting the lid to the cleaning fluid refilling port.
39. The hand-washing device according to claims 26 through 29, wherein there is provided a lid for covering the cleaning fluid refilling port, and the lid is mounted on the cleaning fluid refilling port for opening and closing by a connecting means.
40. The hand-washing device according to claim 39 , wherein the connecting means is constructed as a hinge for opening and closing the cleaning fluid refilling port by the lid.
41. The hand-washing device according claim 40 , wherein the hinge is constructed to open and close the lid forward.
42. The hand-washing device according to claim 40 , wherein the hinge is constructed to let the lid open inside the cleaning fluid refilling port.
43. The hand-washing device according to claim 42 , wherein the lid is designed to have the center of gravity at its lower section to be brought into a closing condition by its own weight, and the cleaning fluid refilling port is provided on the water receiving section so that when closed, the lid is vertical or the lower section of the lid tilts to situate outside the water receiving section.
44. The hand-washing device according to claim 42 , wherein the lid is designed to have the center of gravity at its lower section to be brought into a closing condition by its own weight, and the cleaning fluid refilling port is provided on the water receiving section so that when closed, the lid is brought into a substantially vertical condition, wherein a magnetic substance is provided on either the lower section of the lid or the lower section of the cleaning fluid refilling port, while a non-magnetic substance adhered to the magnetic substance is provided on the other.
45. The hand-washing device according to claim 39 , wherein the connecting means comprises a rotating shaft provided on the lid, a through-hole provided on the cleaning fluid refilling port into which the rotating shaft is inserted, and an anti-slip member provided at the tip of the rotating shaft to prevent the rotating shaft from slipping out of the through-hole.
46. The hand-washing device according to claims 39 through 43, wherein there is provided an engaging means for preventing the lid from opening unpreparedly.
47. The hand-washing device according to claim 46 , wherein the engaging means is provided to let have either the lid or the cleaning fluid refilling port a magnetic substance and let the other have a non-magnetic substance adhered to the magnetic substance.
48. The hand-washing device according to claim 46 , wherein the engaging means is provided to form an engaging section or a section to be engaged on the cleaning fluid refilling port and to form a section to be engaged or an engaging section adapted to engage the engaging section or the section to be engaged of the cleaning fluid refilling port on the lid.
49. The hand-washing device according to claims 26 through 48, wherein a strainer is provided inside the cleaning fluid refilling port to prevent dust from entering therein.
50. The hand-washing device according to claim 49 , wherein the strainer is provided with a grip, and a stopper is provided inside the cleaning fluid refilling port to position the strainer.
51. The hand-washing device according to claims 26 through 50, wherein a liquid level detecting means is provided to detect that an upper surface of a cleaning fluid inside the cleaning fluid refilling port has reached a predetermined liquid level and an information means is provided to inform that the upper surface of the cleaning fluid has reached the predetermined liquid level based on the detection signal from the liquid level detecting means.
52. The hand-washing device according to claims 26 through 51, wherein a float is provided inside the cleaning fluid refilling port, which rises by buoyancy when the cleaning fluid refilling port is substantially filled with the cleaning fluid.
