and a locking flange extending crosswise of each flap at the end, the extent of the overlapping being such that said locking anges engage each other edgewise only and hold by friction, so that the flaps lock when the box is completely closed.

A rlber board box comprising a. body and folding cover flaps overlapping ,each other to close the top of the body; and a locking ilange extending crosswise of each flap at the end, said locking flanges being formed by end portions of the cover flaps doubled back and. secured to the cover flaps so as to lie vilat against opposite faces of the cover flaps andl engaging each other edgevwise only and holding by friction, so that the flaps lock when the boxis completely closed; said locking flanges stiifening the/box intermediate its ends against torsional stresses.
4. A nber board box comprising a body, and a pair of folding cover ilapshinged to the body and overlapping each other to close the top of the body; each flap having a flange contactingedgewise with the flange on the other ap when both aps are pushed down intobox-closing position; and a pair of longitudinal flapson the body so positioned as to support the cover flaps so that they tend to spring upwardly to be interlocked automatically.
5. A ilber board box comprising a bottom, two side walls, two end walls; cover flaps hinged to the tops of the end walls; naps hinged to the side walls and bent inwardly to extend over the top of the box at suchan elevation as to support the cover flaps; said cover ilaps overlapping at the middle of the box and each havingv a. iiange on its free end doubled back4 and secured to the cover flap to provide a shoulder extending transversely of the box; the cover flap which is underneath having its shoulder on the outside, and the cover flap which is outside having its shoulder underneath, and the parts being so constructed.
