This invention relates to building panels espe-- 'cially adapted to be used in constructing silos, and it consists in the novel features hereinafter .described and claimed;
An object of the invention is to provide a panel of the character indicated having its exterior surface cross-ribbed, having beveled end surfaces disposed beyond the side edges of the panel and lug plates mounted upon said ribs and adapted to receive bolts which connect the abutting edges of adjacent panels together in the silos structure. The inner surfaces of the panels are smooth and therefore the inner wall surfaces of the silo structure is smooth as the ribs are at the exterior surfaces of the panels. upper rib has an upper surface lying in a plane above the'upper edge of the panel, an'intermediate rib disposed approximately midway between the upper and lower edges of the panel and a lower rib spaced above the lower ledge of the panel. The arrangement is such that the panels which abut each other vertically interlock with each other.
In the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is a fragmentary side elevational view of the silo structure showing the panelsarranged therein.
Figure 2 is a fragmentary edge view of adjacent panels connected with each other.
Figure 3 is a side elevational view of a silo made up of the panels.
Figure 4 is a top plan view of the silo as shown s in Figure 3.
Figure 5 is a fragmentary detailed sectional view showing the interlocking edges of vertically abutting panels. 7 n
The panel I consists of a number of pieces of tongue and groove boards intersecting each other,
and the panel is rectangular in side'elevation. Ribs 2 are applied to the outer surface of the panel and the said ribs are provided withbeveled end surfaces 3 which are disposed beyond the side edges of the panel I as best shown in Figure 2 of the drawing. The upper rib 2 is disposed above the upper edge of the panel The lower rib 2 has its lower surface disposed above the lower edge of the panel land the intermediaterib 2 is.
approximately midway between the upper and lower edges of the panel. All of the said ribs are provided at their ends with plates 4 having outstanding lugs 5. Bolts 6 pass through lugs 5 whereby the vertical edges of adjacent panels may or spring with relation to each other.
Upon each panel, the

the panels and the bottom ribs .adjacent ribs of the same into beheld in close contact with each other and the ends of the corresponding ribs of the adjacent panels are held in close contact with each other as shown in Figure 2 of the drawing. As shown in Figure 5 of the drawing, the rib 2 which is 5 attached to the lower panel I overlaps the lower portion, ofjthe panel which is above so that the intermediate portions of the panels cannot bulge When the panels are assembled in the form of inner wall surface thereofv is smooth'and the ribs 7 being disposed at theexterior of the panels pre-- vents the structure from twisting or of shape. This gives a smooth surface onthe inside of the silo and the ribs around the outside 15 form bands that assure'rigidity. The building may be used for storing grain and when a small number of panels is used, houses for hogs or chicken brooders may-be erected. Any number of panels may be added to the st cture orsub- The advantages gained by using such panels are that silos and similar buildings may be constructed at low cost. They maybe quickly erected and maybe increased or diminished in size, readily as desired. 1 The panels may be arcuate in shape and in which case a completed silo would be in the form of a circular building, on which all corners have been eliminated.
A building wall consisting of panels the inner surfaces of which are smooth, ribs applied to the outer surfaces of the panels adjacent the upper and lower edges and having beveled extremities formed at the ends of. the panels with the angle of the bevel so disposed that the ends of the ribs" extend beyond the-panels, lug plates attached to g the ribs adjacent the beveledends, bolts detachably connecting the lug plates of adjacent panels I together, the upper ribs having their top faces disposed'above the plane of'the upper edges of having their lower faces correspondingly disposed with reference to r the lower edges of the panels to of vertically adjacent panels while bringingthe face contact, and bolts passing through said adjacent ribs to secure the same togethe a silo, the 10 warping out, 1 l
