and convenient.
Other objects of the invention will appear from the following description at the end of which the invention will be claimed.
Generally stated, the invention consists of a thread waxer having a base equipped with two top levels and provided with laterally extending arms of which one is a support and of whichthe other projects below the top level, a post rising from the low top level, a turntable provided with a cap mounted on the post and having a closed end, a ball arranged inside the closed end of the cap and by which the'turntable is rotatably suspended from the top of the post, a thread guide aligned with the top of the turntable and rising from the arm which projects below the low top level, spaced lugs provided on the high top level, and a turnable finger spaced above the post and having a spring'pressed shank of which a part is movable through the base and of which a part is engagable and disengagable by the lugs.
The invention also comprises the improvements to be presently described and finally claimed.
In the following description reference will be made to the accompanying drawing forming part hereof and in which,
Figure 1 is an elevational view of a device embodying features of the invention and showing in section a detail, and
Figure 2 is a top or plan view of the device.
Referring to the drawing, the base 1 has two top levels 2 and 3 and is provided with 2. laterally extending arm 4 which constitutes a support and also with an arm 5 projecting from below the low top level 3. 6 is a post rising from the low top level 3. 7 is a turntable adapted to carry a centrally perforated disk or cake of wax 8 and provided with a cap 9 having a closed end 10. There is a ball 11 arranged at the closed end of the cap and it is seated on the top of the post 6 and serves to suspend the turntable and the wax for turning movement from the top of the post. 12 is a, thread guide aligned with the top of the turntable and rising from the arm 5. 13 are spaced lugs or projections provided on the high level 2. 14 is a turnable finger spaced above the post and having a spring pressed shank of which a part 15 is movable through the base and of which a part 16 is engageable and disengageable with or between the lugs 13.
In use the device is secured to a suitable support by means of the arm 4 which is shown as perforated for the reception of a bolt or other fastening. Thread directed by the thread guide 12 passes between the top of the turntable '7 and the bottom of the wax 8 and is waxed in its passage. The construction described for suspending the turntable permits it freedom ofrevolution and adapts the device for use with thread or yarn whichis not possessed of any considerable strength as well as with yarns of various character. By pressing on the end of the part 15 of the finger the part 16 of the finger can be lifted clear of the projections 16 so that the finger may be turned away from the post thus providing for the renewal of the wax and for the detachment and assembly of the turntable. During the waxing operation, the finger 14 retains the turntable '7 on the post 6 by preventing excessive upward movement of the turntable.
It will be obvious to those skilled in the art to which the present invention relates that modifications may be made in details of procedure without departing from the spirit of the invention which is not limited to such matters or. otherwise than the prior art and the appended claims may require.
I claim:
1. A thread or yarn waxer comprising a base having two top levels and provided with laterally extending arms of which one is a support and. of which the other projects below the low top level, a post rising from the low top level, a turntable provided with a cap mounted on the post and having a closed end, a ball arranged inside the closedend of the cap and by which the turntable is rotatably suspended from the top of the post, a thread guide aligned with the top surface of the turntable and rising from the arm which projects below the low top level, spaced lugs provided on the high top level, and a turnable finger spaced above the post and the closed end of the cap for retaining said turntable on said post and having a spring pressed shank of which a part is movable through the base and of which a part is engageable and disengageable between said lugs.
2. A thread or yarn waxer comprising a base having two top levels and provided with laterally extending arms of which one is a support and of which the other projects below the low top level, a post rising from thelow toplevel, a turntable provided with a ball by which it is suspended for rotation from the topof the post, a thread guide rising from the arm which projects 7 below the lovv top level, a turnable finger spaced above the post and the turntable for retaining the turntable on the post, and catch mechanism for holding and releasing the turnable finger.
3. In a thread or yarn waxer having a base, a post mounted on said base, and a turntable rotatably mounted on said post, means for retaining said turntable on said base comprising a turntable finger mounted on said base so as to
