Description

Feb. 12, 1935. A. A. LEWIS .RECEPTACLE Filed Jan. 28, 1952 A Home y Patented Feb.l2, 1935 I UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE ,901,: ancarracm murauwasmk, N. J. v Application January as, 1932, sci-m no. 589,499 2 Claims. -(01. 200-1) 10 tion and the common practice is to place them in water over night when not in use. This practice is unsightlv anddetrimental to the dentures in that it subjects the dentures to an excess of moisture causing deterioration thereof.
It is one of the primary objects of the present invention to provide a device for holding artiflcial dentures when not in use and which will retain the same out of sight As shown in. the drawing and hereinafter described, a construction and arrangement is provided whereby the artificial denture is carried upon a support so that thesame is protected from the transmission of shocks thereto. which may -be imported tothecontainer, bybeinghitordropped,in placingthesameonahardporcelainwash stand, or otherwise. I
A still further object of the invention resides in the provision of novel means whereby materialpref- ,erablyofanopaquenatureinorderthat sightly therein willnotbe visible through the walls thereof. The upper end of the body portion 5 is formed with a reduced open portion 6 and said reduced open portion is provided with a plurality. of. screw threads 7. The reference character 8 designates 5 a closure formed preferably of the same materialasthebodyfiandthisclosurecapis threaded to receive the reduced portion 6 of the body 5 and form a closure for said body.
The reference character 10 designates an ab- 10 'sorbent pad. This pad maybe of any suitable material which will absorb water or other liquid and it is so shaped as to conform to the bottom wall of the container 5 and is of substantially the same size as said. bottom wall.
Means is provided to support the article contained within the container or receptacle out of contact with the absorbent pad 10, and in the present embodiment of the invention, this means consists of a perforated disk like member 15.
This disk like member is of relatively substantial mass and smaller size than the inside of the cylindrical body portion 5 of the container and preferably formed from the same material as the container or receptacle and the sameisofasizeandshapetosubstantially conform to the absorbent pad. The disk is provided with a plurality of perforations 16 which maybearrangedinthediskinanynumher. r
The device is used in the following manner:
The closure 8 being removed, the pad 10 is saturated; with any suitable liquid preferably water: If water is used, a few drops of formalde- 'hyde or other similar fluid may be incorporated mit the moisture thereto in the prom quantity to prevent deterioration thereof from exams of "moisture. Also. the formaldehyde will act as a sterilizing medium to destroy all micro-organismswhichmaybepresentuponsaidarticles.
