Other and further objects and advantages ofv theinvention will be made apparent in the iollowing detailed description thereof, yreference in this connection being had to the vaccompanying drawing, wherein Fig. 1 is -a plan view of the sheet or blank from which my improved envelope is made.

The envelope blank of Fig. 1 provides a rectangular body portion 1, from which project the opposite narrow end flaps 2 and 3, the latter in the manufacture of the envelope being initially folded inwardly along the lines oi fold 2' and 3. Also projecting from said body portion 1 is a back flap 4, whose end edges are gummed as shown at 5, 5, so that when said back flap 4 is folded along the line 4', the gummed margins 5, 5 register with the previously infolded end flaps 2 and 3, for the production of an envelope, as shownin Fig. 2, of the same size as the body portion 1.

My invention contemplates that such an envelope, of conventional size, shall serve for the transmission of a card or inclosure 6 of much smaller size, such a card, for example, an automobile license card, held within the to be so envelope as to maintain registry with a window or opening tion 1 which constitutes the front wall of the completed envelope, whereby the name and address of the sendee appearing on one face of said card'shall be exposed by said window. To this end, a suitable barrier, to prevent the card 6 from dropping down to the bottom of the envelope, away from registry with the window 7, is provided in the form of an adhesive attachthe sendees name and.

thus inserted and registered .the usual closure flap 11 can be folded down and sealed to the back wall by means of its adhesive margin card 6 from the envelope until withdrawal of the 12, thus preventing the latter is opened in the usual way.

Referring to Fig.` illustrated is substantially shown in Figs. 1, 2

4, the construction therein the same as that and 3, except that the gumming 5 along one end margin of the back liap 4 is omitted, this allowing the adjacent end flap 3 to be pulled out, so as to afford postal inspection of the envelopes contents when said envelope is mailed at a lower rate of postage than that required for a completely sealed inclosure.

I claim.

1. As a new article of manufacture, a singlepocket envelope having front and back walls of uniform size, one of said walls providing a window for revealing the address on an inclosure of substantially smaller size than the envelope, and the other wall providing a single unbroken slit through which projects one edge of said inclosure, when the latter is registered with said window, whereby to prevent substantial displacement of said inclosure from said registered position.

2. As a new article of manufacture, a single pocket envelope having front and back walls and a closure flap foldable on a margin of one Wall and sealable to the other wall, one of said walls providing a window for revealing the address on an inclosure of substantially smaller size than the envelope, and the other wall providing a single unbroken slit through which projects one edge of said inclosure, when the latter is registered with said window, whereby to prevent substantial displacement of said inclosure from said registered position, said slit and the projecting edge of said inclosure being covered by said closure flap when the latter is folded over and sealed.

As a new article of manufacture, a singlepocket envelope having front and back walls and a closure flap foldable on a margin of one wall and sealable to the other wall, one of said walls providing a window for revealing the address on an inclosure of substantially smaller size than the envelope, and the other wall providing a single unbroken slit through which projects one edge of said inclosure, when the latter is registered with said window, whereby to prevent substantial displacement of said inclosure from said registered position, said slit and the projecting" edge of said inclosure being covered by said closure ap when the latter is folded over and sealed, said back wall being constituted by a plurality of marginally-overlapped flaps, one of which is substantially unsecured by adhesive, whereby postal inspection of the envelopes contents is permitted, notwithstanding the sealing of said closure ap.

4. As a new article of manufacture, an envelope having front and back Walls and a closure flap, one of said walls providing a window for revealing the address on an inclosure of substantially smaller size than the envelope, and the other wall providing a slit through which projects one edge of said inclosure, when the latter is registered with said window, whereby to prevent substantial displacement of said inclosure from said registered position, said slit and the projecting edge of said inclosure being covered by said closure ap when the latter is folded over and sealed, and adhesive intermediately connecting said closure flap in sealed position with the Window-equipped wall, to provide a barrier against displacement of said inclosure from said registered position.

5. As a new article of manufacture, an envelope having front and back walls and a closure ap, one of said walls providing a window for revealing the address on an inclosure of substantially smaller size than the envelope, and the other wall providing a slit through which projects one edge of said inclosure, when the latter is registered with said window, whereby to prevent substantial displacement of said inclosure from said registered position, said slit and the projecting edge of said inclosure being covered by said closure nap when the latter is folded over and sealed to the slitted wall, and a band of gum on said closure ap, inwardly of its marginal sealing gum, for adhesion to one of said walls, to provide a barrier against displacement of said inclosure from said registered position.
