Description

1 4, 1934 w. INTEMANN ADVERTISING DEVICE Filed July' 1, 1935 INVENTOR Wz' Z Z z'am fzziemazzzz.
BY- WWW Jzip'ATTQRNEY Patented Dec. 4, 1934 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 4 Claims.
This invention relates to advertising devices and has for its object to provide a device of the class specified, of simple construction and which can be easily erected from the fiat form in which 5 it is blanked to display condition. A further object of my improvements is to provide a device adapted for erection on the top of a container which is provided with a wire key, for opening the container, affixed to the top or head of the container. Such containers may be of any desired shape, the one shown being cylindrical and adapted to contain merchandise, such as coffee or the like.
Another object of the device is to provide a receptacle for samples of merchandise, or advertising matter, such as small pieces of printed matter.
Figure 1 is an elevation, in opened condition, of my improved device. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same assembled for display on the head of a container. The scale is the same in both figures and is approximately actual size.
To these ends and others which will appearlater herein, my improvements comprise a blank consisting of a plurality of walls as 4, 5, 6 articulated together along their upright edges at 15, 16, and having means for joining the outer edges of the outer walls 4, 6, as by latches '7, 8. When said latches are in engagement with each other a boxlike formation is had. While I prefer three members 4, 5, 6 for the box-like formation of my device, in the interest of rigidity, it will be obvious that four or more similar members may be employed if desired.
Depending from the lower edges of at least two of walls 4, 5, 6 are feet as 9, 10, 11, foldable on their lines of jointure as 17, 18, 19, all respectively, with said walls. Just above said folding lines 17, 18, 19 are narrow slots 12, 13, 14, in walls 4, 5, 6 respectively. When the device is erected by the engagement of latches 7, 8, and feet 9, 10, 11 folded inwardly said feet are adapted for sliding under wire key 2, said key passing into and partly through one or more of said slots 12, l3, 14. The top of container 20 has key 2 aflixed thereto by horn 3 of said key in the known manner of common practice.
It will be observed that my improved device has considerable freedom of movement on top of the container, its feet being slidable under key 2. The device may therefore be shifted about into various positions relative to the key and the container.
Projecting upwardly from the upper edge of one or more of walls 4, 5, 6 display a member as 21 may be provided. Said member may be of any desired form such as a coffee cup, and is adapted to carry suitable advertising matter. The box-like receptacle formed by the several walls 4, 5, 6, is adapted to receive and display samples of merchandise, such as is contained in the container; or small advertising sheets may be conveniently held therein.
I claim:
1. An advertising device having at least three 5 walls joined together along their upright edges, a foot projecting inwardly from the lower edge of at least two of said walls, a slot above each of said feet, in said walls, said feet being adapted for engagement with a key affixed to the top of a container and said slots being adapted for permitting the key to project therethrough.
2. An advertising device having three walls joined together along their upright edges, a foot projecting inwardly from the lower edge of each of said walls, a slot above each of said feet, in said walls, said feet being adapted for engagement with a key affixed to the top of a container and said slots being adapted for permitting the key toproject therethrough.
3. An advertising device having at least three walls joined together along their upright edges, a foot projecting inwardly from the lower edge of at least two of said walls, a slot above each of said feet, in said walls, said feet being adapted for engagement with a key affixed to the top of a container and said slots being adapted for permitting the key to project therethrough, and a display member projecting upwardly from one or more of the upper edges of said walls.
4. An advertising device having three walls joined together along their upright edges, a foot projecting inwardly from the lower edge of each of said walls, a slot above each of said feet, in said walls, said feet being adapted for engagement with a key affixed to the top of a container and said slots being adapted for permitting the key to project therethrough, and a display member projecting upwardly from the upper edge of one of said walls.
