IMPROVEMENT IN COMPOSITORS' STANDS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 198,310, dated December 18, 1877 application filed November 20, 1877.
its object to furnish a stand which can be readily and easily elevated or lowered, turned to the right or the left, or moved to suit the convenience of the compositor and the inven tion consists in the general construction and arrangement of parts, all as hereinafter fully described.
To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to describe the exact manner in which I have carried it out.
In the drawings, A represents the base, which may be made of wood or metal, of any suitable size or form, and which is provided with a tapering socket, a. B represents a post or standard, with its lower end made tapering, to fit firmly in the socket a, of the base. 0 0 represent metal collars, fitting closely around the post B, and which are adjustably secured thereto by thumb-screws c c, or their equivalents. E F represent arms or braces, connecting with the collars C O, for supporting the frame G, upon which the compositors cases are placed. H H represents the thumb-screws, for regulating the angle of the compositors cases, as may be desired.
The whole or any part of my improved stand can be manufactured from wood or metal, or both, as may be deemed expedient.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The herein-described compositors stand, consisting of the base A, post or standard B, and frame Gr, collars O O, and braces E F, the several parts constructed and relatively arranged substantially as specified.
