In operating the lever 7 for discharging the cigarette after it has been made, it will be necessary for the operator to elevate the lever 15 so that it will override the recesses 17 in the side walls 3. t i
Attention is further directed to the slots 9 formed in the ears 8 of the lever 7 which permits play or looseness of the shaft 10 of the roller 11, said slots permitting the roller 11 to be forced somewhat to one side while engaging the tobacco in the pocket A when the lever 7 is in the positions shown in Figs. 1 and 2 and further, in
the event that a greater quantity of tobacco is placed in'the pocket thanis ordinarily placed therein, the slots 9 will permit a certain amount of yield to the roller 11 for accommodating the larger quantity of tobacco in the pocket A of the apron 22. Also, the movement permitted the shaft 10 of the roller 11 in the slots 9, permits the operator to regulate the tension on the apron 22 and the roller 11 for providing a smoothqfeedingin-action' on the cigarette paper B. 1.
The roller 13 is preferablyv made of rubber or' other analogous material and if desired'all of the rollers 11, 13 and 21 may be made of rubber orrubber coating for better frictionalengagement with the apron 22. r
In order to prevent portions of tobacco projecting from one end of the cigarette which may be termed the mouth end, a cylindrical plug shown at C in Figs. 2 and 3 may be inserted'inone end of the apron pocket A for abutting one end of the tobacco quantity when tobacco is placed in the pocket and consequently when a cigarette paper B is fed around the tobacco roll in the pocket, one edge of the paper will overengage the plug and obviously when the cigarette is discharged from the machine a countersunk or depression will be found to be formed in one end thus preventing the tobacco ends from protruding from this particular end of the cigarette. I
While one illustrative embodiment of the invention has been described in detail, it is. not my intention to limit its scope to that particular embodiment or otherwisethan by the terms of the appended claims.
What I claim is:
1. A cigarette making machine comprising a lever, a roller carried by said lever, a second roller having a fixed mounting, an apron mounted over said rollers, and travelling means for said apron carried by said lever adjacent said first mentioned roller.
2. A cigarette making machine comprising a lever, a roller carried by said lever, a second roller having a fixed mounting, an apron mounted over said rollers, said lever when operated adapted to flex said apron for providing a tobacco receiving pocket therein, and means carried by said lever adjacent said first mentioned roller for travelling said apron in its pocket formed position.
3. A cigarette making machine comprising a lever, a roller carried by said lever, a turning 35 element carried by said lever beyond the pivot thereof for operating said roller, a second roller having a fixed mounting, and an apron mounted over said rollers, said lever adapted to be moved and cause said apron to flex for providing a tobacco receiving pocket thereon. v

A cigarette making machine comprising a I lever, a roller carried by said lever, a turning eleheld relative to said other roller forfiexing said 106 apron to provide a larger or smaller tobacco receiving pocket therein, and driving means for said apron cooperable with said resiliently held roller.-
6. A cigarette making machine comprising a pair of rollers, an apron mounted over said rollers,- 11 0 one of said rollers having a mounting for permitting sliding of the roller axis therein, a lever, for
the support of said slidable roller, and means for travelling said apron carried by said lever.

A cigarettemaking machine comprising a pair of rollers one of which is fixed and. the other of which is movable, a-leverfor the support of .said movable roller, an apron mounted over said having a fixed mounting, an apron mounted over 139 said rollers, travelling means for said apron carried by said lever, and releasable means for holding said lever in retractile position. 7
10. A cigarette making machine comprising a frame, a lever pivoted to said frame, a roller carried by said lever, a second roller having a fixed mounting, an apron mounted over said rollers,
travelling means for said apron carried by said lever, and means cooperable with said lever and said frame for holding said lever in a retracted 1 position.
