Description

Nov. 13, 1934. I. L. Ml TCHELL 1,980,348
HOT WATER BAG ATTACHMENT Filed Sept. 9, 1933 Inventor Attorney Patented Nov. 13, 1934 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE 2 Claims.
This invention relates to an attachment for a hot water bag, the general object of the invention being to make the attachment in the form of a funnel provided with a stem having a i threaded extremity for screwing in the stopper opening of the bag, with a threaded plug for closing the bore of the stem.
Another object of the invention is to provide the attachment with a nipple for receiving the usual rubber tube. a This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanymg drawing and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawing where- 'in like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in wvhich:-
Figure 1 is a partial sectional view showing the attachment applied to a hot water bag.
Figure 2 is an elevation of the attachment.
25 As shown in these views, the device comprises 'a body part 1 having its lower end threaded, as at 2, for fitting in the usual threaded opening of a hot water bag, such as shown at A in Figure 1. Said body is formed with an upwardly and outwardly extending neck 3, the upper end of which is enlarged to form a funnel 4. This neck is provided with a large bore 5 which extends from the funnel into the bore 6 of the body 1 which extends through the threaded end 2 of the body and the top end of the body has a nipple 7 formed thereon and a bore 8 passes through the nipple and the upper part of the body and communicates with the bore 5. This nipple, of course, is to receive a rubber tube or the like and the outer end of the bore 5 is threaded to receive a. stopper 9 formed with a handle 10. This stopper may be the stopper which comes with the bag.
Thus it will be seen that with this attachment, liquid can be easily placed in the bag and after the attachment is placed in position in the bag, it can remain there as it is only necessary to remove the stopper to empty or fill the bag and with this attachment, the stopper 9 can be more readily removed and inserted than can a stopper placed in the threaded opening of a bag.
The nipple can be closed in any suitable manner when the bag is to be used as a hot water bag and it is desirable to prevent any water from escaping therefrom.
When a manufacturer wishes to make bottles or bags for use with the attachment, he does not have to place threads on the plug that is inserted in the bottle or bag.
As will be seen, this attachment can be sold and bought separately from the bottle, as it will fit in bottles or bags as now constructed.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
What is claimed is:
1. An attachment for a water bottle comprising an elongated straight body part having one end exteriorly threaded for fitting in the stopper receiving opening of the bottle and said body having an upwardly and outwardly extending projection thereon having a funnel-shaped part at its outer end, the lower part of the body and said extension having an angle-shaped passage therein extending from the funnel-shaped part through the threaded end of the body, the upper end of the passage being internally screw threaded for receiving a stopper.
2. An attachment for a water bottle comprising an elongated straight body part having one end exteriorly threaded for fitting in the stopper receiving opening of the bottle and said body having an upwardly and outwardly extending projection thereon having a funnel-shaped part at its outer end, the lower part of the body and said extension having an angle-shaped passage therein extending from the funnel-shaped part through the threaded end of the body, the upper end of the passage being internally screw threaded for receiving a stopper, the upper end of the straight part of the body having a hose receiving nipple thereon, and a bore passing from the upper end of the nipple to the passage.
