IMPROVEMENT IN CAR-DOORS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 197,343, dated November 20, 1877; application filed April 10, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Beit knowmthat I, WILLIAM O. DAvIEs, of .Milwaukee, `in the coiuity of Milwaukee, in the State of Wisconsin, have invented certain Improvements in Gar-Doors, of which the following isa specification:
My invention has for its object the construction of a door for freight-cars that can be opened and closed without any catching or binding by thef grain or other articles clogging it. It is alifting door, whichishung at one corner, and,in opening, is raised to aperpendicular position, and, falling back behind keepers,
The drawing forming part of this specication is a perspective view of my invention.
In the drawing, A is .the frame of the door; B, the door; C, a rod running from the bottom to the top ofthe frame A, and behind which the back end of the door projects, and is held up in place, and which holds the door from being pressed out by grain or anything behind it. F is a slotted piece, with an offset in the upper end of the slot, secured to the lower hind corner of the door. G r is a headed pin passing through slot F, and secured in the frame, and on which the door swings. H is a clasp, behind which the door slides when in a perpendicular position.
What I claim, and 'desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The door B, rod C, which holds the back end of same, hook which holds the front end of the door-block E, slotted piece F, with an offset in its upper end, headed pin G, passing through slot F, and clasp H, allV in combination, substantially as described.
