Filed May 1, 1933 L J i1 W M M M Patented July 24, 1934 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE My invention relates to improvements in sanitary toilet seat covers and means for dispensing the same.

It is an object of the invention to provide a pair of rollers mounted on opposite sides of the toilet bowl, one of the rollers having a continuous sheet of paper or cloth material wound thereon, adapted to be trained over the toilet seat and attached to the other roller, the sheet of material having openings at spaced intervals throughout its length, for registering with the opening in the toilet seat, as the sheet is drawn across the seat providing a clean cover for each individual user of the seat.

15 A further object of the invention is to provide adevice of the above-mentioned character which is simple and durable in construction, reliable and eificient in use and inexpensive to manufacture.

Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent during the course of the following description.

5 and 6 denote a pair of rollers journaled in the upper ends of suitable brackets 7, attached to the floor on opposite sides of the toilet bowl 8. A continuous sheet of paper or cloth 9, treated with a suitable disinfectant is adapted to be wound on one of the rollers and throughout its length is provided at spaced intervals with openings 10 conforming in shape to the conventional opening provided in toilet seats 11. The sheet of material 9 is adapted to be trained over the toilet seat and attached to the other roller, as shown in Fig. 1, and upon winding the material on the roller it is drawn across the toilet seat bringing each successive opening into register with the toilet-seat opening. A suitable cover 12 is mounted over each of the rollers and extending from the inner side of the cover is an upwardly inclined discharge spout 13, through which the sheet of material passes and mounted in the upper end of the spout is a roll 14 over which the sheet of material is trained. The shaft 15 of 55 one of the rollers extends through and beyond the end of the cover 12 having a beveled gear 16 mounted on the end thereof which meshes with the beveled gear 17 on the lower end of the vertical shaft 18. The shaft 18 is iournaled in suitable bearings 19 attached to the wall and mounted on the upper end of the shaft is a beveled gear 20 which meshes with the beveled gear 21 on the end of the horizontal shaft 22, journaled in the bearing 23. A crank 24 is attached to the end of the shaft 22. for turning the shaft which operates the gearing to rotate the roller to wind the sheet of material thereon.

In operation, it will be seen that when one 01' the openings 10 of the sheet of material 9 is in registering relation with the opening of the toilet seat, a sanitary cover is provided for the user of the toilet, which will prevent the contraction of diseases. To provide a clean cover for the next user, the crank 241s turned which winds the used cover on one of the rollers, at the same time unwinding the sheet from the other roller, so that the sheet is drawn across the toilet seat, to bring the next clean cover into position.

It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same and that certain changes in the shape, size and arrangement of the parts may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoined claim.

Having thus described my invention, I claim:-

'In a toilet seat cover, the combination of a pair of brackets mounted on the floor at opposite sides of the toilet bowl, rollers iournaled in said brackets on a plane below the plane of the toilet seat. a continuous sheet of material wound on one of said rollers having its free end attached to the other roller,-said sheet being trained over said toilet seat and having openings at spaced intervals for registering with the opening of the toilet seat, covers mounted over said rollers and brackets having discharge spouts extending upwardly from their inner sides through which the sheet of material passes, the spouts terminating at a point adjacent the sidesof the toilet seat, guide rolls mounted in the upper ends of the spouts on a plane with the seat over which the sheet of material is trained and means for turning the roller to which the free end ofsaid sheet is attached, whereby the sheet is drawn across the toilet seat.
