1 Claim.
This invention relates to means for fastening a platform to a freight car, the general object of the invention being to provide a keeper, fastened to the platform, and engaging the central door guide of the freight car, whereby the platform is fastened to the car and can be easily and readily removed by simply lifting the platform to free the keeper from the guide.
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim. In describing the invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which:
Figure l is a fragmentary plan view showing the device acting to hold one end of a platform to a car.

Fig. 3 is a front view of the keeper member.
Fig. 4 is a top plan View thereof.
Fig. 5 is a vertical sectional view thereof.
In these drawings, the platform or bridge is shown at A, a part of a freight car at B and a loading platform at C. This platform C may be another car. The central door guide of the freight car is shown at D. In carrying out my invention I provide a keeper member E which has a horizontal flange 1 at its upper end formed with a hole 2 through which a bolt 3 passes, the 35 bolt also passing through the platform or bridge A so that the keeper is fastened to the under side of the bridge. A vertical part of the keeper is formed with the depending parts 3, one at each side thereof. These parts 3 form a. recess 4 for receiving a part of the guide with the depending parts 3 engaging opposite sides of the guide as shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
Thus I have provided a simple form of keeper for fastening a bridge or platform to a door guide of a freight car and the invention eliminates the cleating of the bridge as is now required. The device may be released from the car by simply raising the bridge so as to raise the keeper above the guide.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the invention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new is:-
In a. door construction for a freight car, a guide mounted below the door section, a bridge having one end resting on a part of the car, a keeper member having a horizontal part fastened to the under face of the bridge adjacent said end and a vertical part depending from the horizontal part and having a pair of depending portions, one at each side thereof, said depending portions forming a recess for receiving said guide with said depending portions engaging opposite sides of the guide.
