- A is the body of my countersink. It is grooved at one end to receive the knife or cutter D, and provided at the other end with the set-screw G, and 'near its middle with an orifice for the bit B. This orifice at one side, is angular, in order that the bit l3 shall be properly centered when held in slot in the cutter.

DANIEL BARBER, OF NEWTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
IMPROVEMENT IN COUNTERSINKS.
Specification forming part of Letters PatentNo. 195,877, dated October 9, 1877; application filed April 12, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DANIEL F. BARBER, of Newton, in the county of Middlesex and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Oountersinks, which improvement is fully set forth and described in the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, making a part hereof.
In the drawings, A is the body of my countersink. It is grooved at one end to receive the knife or cutter D, and provided at the other end with the set-screw G, and 'near its middle with an orifice for the bit B. This orifice at one side, is angular, in order that the bit l3 shall be properly centered when held in slot in the cutter.
The main advantages of my countersink over all others known to me are that the bit is accurately centered by means of the angular part of the bit-hole in the body A; the out ter is very securely held in place, and yet easily adjusted for different sizes of bits, and the device is compact, strong, simple, and cheap.
I am aware of the patent to lettes, No. 110,494, and disclaim the device therein shown, and also any other device with a round bit-hole.
What I claim as my invention is- The countersink above described, consisting of the body A, having the angular bithole, and provided with a setscrew, 0, whose axis bisects the angle of the bit-hole, and the adjustable cutter D, the body and the cutter being secured together, and the whole adapted to be secured to the bit, as above described.
