Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 194,573, dated August 28, 1877; application filed July 13, 1877.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM B. BOTSFORD, of Mill Port, in the county of Ohernung and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Box-Corners, of which the following is a specification:
Figure 1 is a view of the inner or concave side of my improved corner. Fig. 2 is a top view of the same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of this invention is to furnish an improved metal corner for wagon, buggy, and sleigh bodies or boxes, and seats for trunks, chests, furniture, 850., and which shall be simple in construction,- strong, durable, inexpensive in manufacture, neat'in appearance, and easily applied.
The invention will first be described in connection, with the drawing, and then pointed out in the claim.
A represents the base or sill of the box, which is made hollow to receive the ends of the side and end sills B of the box, and which may be made with a molding or plain, as may be desired.
Upon the upper side of the base or sillA is formed a rib or lugs, a, to the opposite sides of which are secured, by rivets, screws, or bolts, the lower edges of two plates, 0, between the ends of which are secured, by rivets, screws, or bolts, the ends of the side and end boards D of the box.
The space between the two plates 0 is filled with wood, E, cut or bent into the required form.
The corner may be round, square, hexagonal, octagonal, or of any other desired shape.
When the box to which the corner is applied is made with a rib, F, the end of the said rib is bolted to the plates G, as shown in both figures.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- The combination of the ribbed hollow base A, sills B fitting therein, the two plates 0, the
