My invention relates to an improvement in a shaving cabinet, which cabinet is particularly adapted to be used in connection with a bath tub.

The primary object of my invention is to pro- 5 vide the cabinet for containing all the necessary toilet articles for use in shaving, which cabinet is particularly constructed so that it may be held in position for use, while the party shaving is seated in a bath tub.

1 A further object of my invention is to provide a cabinet which contains toilet necessities other than articles for shaving, such as toilet soap, manicure scissors, nail file, comb and brush, tooth paste, and tooth brush, and so forth.

As shown in Fig. 2, the cabinet 2 when closed is in the form of a rectangular box. To open the cabinet, the latch 4 is released and the cover 6 is swung open on hinge 8, to a position shown in Fig. 1. After the cover 6 is open, the front side 10 may be folded down on the hinge 12.

The extensible telescoping arms 14 and 16 are pulled out from the base 18 of the cabinet to a position as shown in Figs. 1, 3 and 5, so that the cabinet can be supported by the side walls of the bath tub, as shown in Fig. 1.

The cover 6 carries on its inner side the mirror 20, which is supported on one end, and held in place, by the strip 22, which is pivotally attached to the cover by the hinge 24. When it is desired to remove the mirror for cleaning, replacing, or any other purpose, the strip 22 may be swung outwardly as shown in Fig. 6 and the mirror slid out from the cover as shown in dot and dash lines in Fig. 6.

The cover 6 is provided with a fastening device which consists of an arm 26 fastened to the cover 6 and an arm 28 which is fastened to a side wall of the cabinet 2. The two

26 and 28 are hinged toegther by the screw-threaded bolt 30 which engages the screw-threads 31 in the arm 26, and which is provided with an operating arm 32.

when the cover 6 is placed in the desired open position for use, the arm 32 may be turned so that the screw-threaded bolt 30 will tighten the arm 28 against the arm 26 and thereby hold the said arms in any desired adjusted position.

The cabinet is divided into two sections by the partition 34, which is provided with a notch 35 in its upper edge for holding the tooth brush 37. On one side of the partition 34 is a space provided for tubes or jars of shaving cream, tooth paste, and the like. On the other side of the partition 34, space is provided for such necessities for toilet as shaving brush and razor blades, soap, scissors, nail file, and the like.

The shaving brush 36 is held in place against the rear wall of the cabinet and by the handle 35 thereof being placed in the resilient clip 38. On the side Wall of the cabinet, I provide the resilient clips 40, 42 for holding manicure scissors 44, and nail file 46, as clearly shown in Figs. 3 and 4, or any other desirable commodity. I have provided special compartments 48 and 50 for holding new and used razor blades, respectively. The compartment 48 is provided with a hinge top 52 which has a suitable gripping device 54, so that it may be readily opened on the hinge 55. The compartment 50 for used razor blades has a hinge top and rear side. This compartment may be opened so that a used blade may be placed therein by pushing the integral top and rear side 56 backward on the hinge 58.

The front side 1.0 of the cabinet is provided with resilient clips 60 for holding a comb 62. This side wall 10 is also provided with a spring clip 64 for holding the brush 66.

The telescopic supporting arms 14 and 16 are so constructed that they may be extended as shown in Figs. 1, 3 and 5, or they may be in a contracted position, as shown in Figs. 2 and 4, at which time the telescopic units will be nested in a 110 space between the floor 68 of the cabinet and the base plate 18.

In the modified form of supporting structure as shown in Figs. 9 to 13, the folding arms '70 are hingedly secured to the floor 68 of the cabinet by the rivet 72, as shown in Fig. 11. These arms 70 are provided with a plurality of hinges 74, so that the arms may be either in an extended position or a folded position, as shown in Fig. 9. The hinge '74 is constructed by dove-tailing the two sections of the arms '70 together and placing a rivet 76 through the dove-tail joints, as shown in Fig. 13.

While I have described my device as being particularly adaptable for use while shaving in a bath tub, it will be readily understood that my cabinet could be used for shaving purposes by being supported on any fiat surface in which case the telescopic arms 14 and 16, may remain in their folded positions, as shown in Fig. 2 or it may be supported by the use of telescopic arms 14 and 16, by spanning the space between any two fixed or movable supports.

While I have specifically described the several elements of my invention, I do not wish to be limited to the particular construction disclosed, which construction may be slightly modified in several respects without departing from the scope of the invention.

I claim:

1. The combination with a cabinet having means for opening and closing the latter, and provided with means for carrying toilet articles, of extensible telescoping arms affording support for the cabinet and nestable in compact space alongside the cabinet.

2. The combination with a shaving-cabinet having a cover hinged thereto, means for fastening the cover in a raised position, a front hinged to the cabinet at its lower edge and adapted to be fastened to the cover when the front and cover are closed, the front provided with means for supporting toilet articles and the cover carrying a mirror, and extensible means connected with the bottom of the cabinet capable of being nested thereunder when closed, and adapted when extended to form a support for the cabinet approximately midway of said means.

3. The combination with a shaving-cabinet having a cover hinged thereto, means for fastening the cover in a raised position, a front hinged to the cabinet at its lower edge and adapted to be fastened to the cover when the front and cover are closed, the front provided with means for supporting toilet articles and the cover carrying a mirror, and telescopic extensible means connected with the bottom of the cabinet capable of being nested thereunder when closed, and adapted when extended to form a support for the cabinet approximately midway of said means.

4. The combination with a shaving cabinet, of extensible means connected with the bottom of the cabinet capable of being nested thereunder when closed, and adapted when extended to form a support for the cabinet approximately midway of said means.

5. The combination with a cabinet structure, of arms extensible in opposite directions from the bottom portion of the cabinet for supporting the cabinet and nestable within said bottom portion of the cabinet.

6. The combination with a cabinet structure having a bottom, and a base portion beneath said bottom, of extensible arms normally housed within said base portion and so constructed as to be individually adjustable relative to said base portion, said arms being individually attached to the cabinet structure for supporting said cabinet structure.

'7. The combination with a cabinet structure having space for toilet articles, of telescopic arms extensible in opposite directions from said cabinet structure for supporting said cabinet structure and being nestable under the cabinet structure when closed.

8. The combination with a cabinet structure having space for toilet articles, of folding arms individually secured to the cabinet structure and extensible in opposite directions therefrom for supporting the cabinet structure, said arms being nestable under the cabinet structure when closed.
