Description

J. N. MiiLLER. PORTABLE FURNACE-STANDS No. 194,101. 7 Patefited Aug.14,1877.'
FIE-3.2.
U ITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JEAN N. MULLER, OF NEW ORLEANS, LOUISIANA.
IMPROVEMENT IN PORTABLE FURNACE-STANDS.
Specification forming part of'Letters Patent No. 194,101, dated August 14, 1877 application fil-ed June 15, 1877.
ii a portable furnace stand or basket, and in providing the same with a means for supporting thereupon a wash-boiler or any other requisite laundry or kitchen utensil.
The nature of my invention will be readily understood by referring to the accompanying drawings, whereon- Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a stand, and Fig. 2 a like view of a stand with furnace therein.
This invention is composed of two flat wrought-iron rings, A A, the latter somewhat larger in diameter than the former, and the two riveted, at certain distances apart, to supporting-legs B B B, the rivets of the lower ring being made sufficiently long to secure within the said ring a tripod, O, uponwhich the bottom of the furnace is designed to rest. The tripod is preferably secured a little below the upper edge of the ring, in order to insure a neat fit and sure footing to the furnace.
D is a metal ring, which is secured at a height a little above the ring A to the upper projecting ends of the legsB, the said ends being bent outward for this purpose.
This ring forms an admirable rest for a washboiler, and'serves asan additional protection for a furnace, inasmuch as it prevents articles placed above from coming in contact with and thereby breaking or otherwise injuring the same.
The ring D is furnished with detachable irons E, (shown in dotted lines,) for the support of sad-irons or of small utensils, thereby admitting of a sufficient number of the latter being used upon a stand provided with a furnace to cook a meal for an ordinary-sized family.
In addition to the object above mentioned, the ring D affords a means whereby the contrivance may be transported, when heated or otherwise, without injury to hands or clothing.
From the above it will be perceived that this invention, in addition to its being of great convenience, protects the furnace from being broken or upset, and thus obviates the possibility of fires occurring from the above causes.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- V 1. A furnace-stand composed of rings A A, the bottom 0, and the legs B, for the purpose set forth.
2. In a furnace-stand composed of rings A A, tripod C, and legs B, a ring-rest, D, as described, and for the purpose specified.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand.
J. N. MI TLLER.
