BABY WALKER. No. 282,980. PatentedAug. 1-4, 1883.
INVENTOR ATTORNEY n. Inns. mmuxm m wngw mc. c.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHANNHABEGGEB, or sr. LOUIS, MISSOURI.
BABY-WALKER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 282,980, dated August 14, 1883.
Application filed April 14, 1883. (No model.)
ToaZZ whomit may concern:
Be it known that I, JoHANn HABEGGER, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Baby- Walkers; and I do hereby declare the followobject to prevent the child from falling or otherwise injuring itself. This object is attained by the device illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation; Fig. 2 is a detached View of thetwo pieces forming the top; Figs. 3 and 4, detached views of the bolt, which I propose to use tohold the toppieces in place when brought together.
The letter A represents one of thepieces forming the top. It is supported and held in its proper position by any convenient number of pieces 0 G, the upper ends of which enter holes in the under side of the piece A, while their lower ends enter recesses cut in the lower part, B, which is of ring-like form, and is supported by rollers G, which rest upon the floor.
The letter A indicates another semicircular piece forming the top of the device. It is furnished with metal hooks or catches F,
which enter recesses in the part A, and when the semicircular piece A and the semicircular piece A are brought close together the catch F engages with the spring snap and catch F,
and in this manner the two are locked to each other and form a top of ring-like shape. The
semicircular piece A is sustained by the rods D, having flexible orhinged connections E 4 and E at top and bottom, by which they are respectively attached to the piece A and the bottom B. I
The snap hooks or catchesF are placed one on each side of semicircular piece A, and 5 N upon being pressed upwardly the hooks are disengaged from the catches F, and the top. may thus be opened, and the child may then be placedwithin. The circular opening is then formed by forcing the two pieces A and A together, and the child .be supported in a standing position and free to walk in any direction.
The wide base of the baby-Walker obviates all danger of upsetting, and at the same time prevents the child from coming in contact with a hot stove or other object which may injure it. y
Having described my invention, what I desire to secure by Letters Patent and to claim 1s I In a baby-walker, the combination of semicircular piece A, having hooks ,F, the rigid supports 0, and circular base B supported' on rollers G, with semicircular piece A, having catches F, and supports D, provided with flexible connections E E, as shown and described, and for the purposes set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
JOHANN HABEGGER.
