1 Claim.
This invention relates to a metal form for concrete structures, the general object of the invention being to provide means whereby the major portions of the form parts can be used over and over again and the form can be quickly assembled disassembled so that the inven- 'ne, labor and material and elim nates the use o shoring.
This invention also consists in certain other 1 'nent of the several parts, to be hereinaft fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.
In describing the invention in detail, reference will be d. to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or correspondiir parts throughout the several views, and
is an elevation of a portion of the l'uVEd fo m.
a section on line 2-2 of Figure l. section on line 3-3 01 Figure 2. is a section on the line 4- 1 of Fig- Figure 5 is a view similar to Figure l, but showing a modifi ation.
Figure 5 is a section on line 66 of Figure 5.
Figure 7 is a section on line 'Z'? of Figure 6.
. Figure 8 is a section on line 8-8 of Figure 6.
As shown in these views, I provide a plurality of sets of clamps, each set consisting of a pair of clamping members 1 carried by a strip 2 so that the clamps can engage the flanges of a beam,
5 such as shown at A, with the strip 2 engaging the base of the flanged portion or edge of the beam. Thus by this arrangement, each pair of clamps with the plate 2 is fastened to the beam when the bolts 3 which pass through the plate and the clamps are tightened. The clamps are perforated to receive the bolts 4, which are of considerable length and these bolts receive the spacers 6. Form plates 7 are placed against the spa and vertically arranged angle members S are placed against the exterior sides of the plates with the bolts l passing through the plates and these angle members. Thus two sides of a form are provided and the plates 9 for the other sides are fastened to the members 8 by the bolts 19 which pass through the metal strips 11 which contact the outer faces of the plates 9. Similar strips 11 contact the outer faces of the plates '7 and are bolted to said plates. Thus a form is provided for receiving the concrete which surrounds the vertical beam A of the structure.
After the concrete has set, the form plates are removed by removing the bolts. The clamps 1, the plates 2 and the spacers 6 remain in the structure.
In the modification shown in Figures 5, 6, '7 and 8, the post or beam A has the strips 11' provided with threaded ends for passing through holes in the strips 11', with nuts 13 on the threaded ends for holding the parts together so that in this case the vertical members 8 are omitted.
The form for each horizontal beam 3 has its clamp assembly, shown generally at C, engaging the top of the beam, with the outer strips 14 having the upper ends bent at rightangles and receiving the spacer carrying bolts 15 so that 7 these strips 14 are supported from the, clamping assembly. The lower ends of these strips 14 are also bent at rightangles and are bolted to the bottom strips 16 and these strips 16 have their inner ends perforated to receive the threaded por- 7 tions of the strips 17 which have their upper ends rounded to pass through the plates of the clamp assembly. Spacers l7 and nuts 17" are placed on the upper ends of these strips 17. The form plates 18 are fastened to these strips 14, 16 and 17 by the bolts 19. This leaves the form for the horizontal beam open at the top'so that the concrete can be placed in the form from the top.
The floor mold D is supported by the cross pieces 20 connected with the clamping assemblies C at the inner ends of such assemblies by some of the strips 1'? and bolts 21 and spacers 22 are used to connect parts of the mold D to the clamping assemblies.
From the foregoing it will be seen that I have provided simple means for fastening the form members to the I beams of a metal structure, such means permitting most of the material used in the forms to be removed after the concrete has hardened so that this material can be used over and over again.
I may form the mold plates each of two sections, with a strip of rubber, canvas or the like between them, as shown at 23.
It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of the in- I vention will be readily apparent.
It is to be understood that minor changes may be made in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.
What I claim is:
In a concrete form, a plurality of clamps, a strip for carrying said clamps, bolts passed 0 therethrough, additional plates disposed against the angle members and at right angles to the first named plates, and bolts engaged in the last named plates and said angle members for detachably joining the same.
CHARLES GOTTFRIED WEBER.
