Ihe apparatus consists of a container 3 adapted to receive the bag 2, the said container being provided with a bail handle 4. A cover 5 is adapted to close the upper end of the container and the cover is provided with lugs 6 adapted to enter the eyes '7 of links 8 which are connected by means of springs 9 with staples k 10 attached to the container 3. the cover is held in position upon the top of the container.

A bolt 17 is, carried -bythe other end ofthecollar strip and the said holtpasses through theslotrlfi and=,ca r ries a knob .18 over its outer end. 'Aspri-ng 19,13. .housedin the knob and bears at one end against the end thereof and at its other end against the nut 20 mounted on the bolt 17. The spring 19 is under tension with a tendency to hold the end portions of the collar strip 12 in frictional contact with each other and also to make a tight contact in order that dust may not escape between the overlapping end portions of the collar strip. By placing the edge of the forefinger against one of the lugs lb and the thumb upon the knob 18 and by closing the thumb toward the finger the knob is moved whereby the collar strip 12 is contracted or dilated as desired.
Blades 21 are provided with upstanding flanges 22. The flanges 22 are attached to the inner surface of the collar strip 12 and the blades 21 extend under the top of the cover 5. The edge portions of the adjacent blades overlap each other as best shown in Figure 2 of the drawings. A spacing ring 23 is attached to the peripheral portion at the top of the cover 5 and at the under side thereof and a plate 24 is attached to said spacing ring and is provided with an edge portion which extends under the overlapping blades 21 and serves as a guide and closure for the end portions of the blades. In use, the mouth of the bag 1 is placed around the collar strip 12 and by using the thumb and forefinger upon the knob and one of the lugs 16 as hereinbefore described, the collar strip 12 is dilated or expanded whereby it fits snugly in the mouth of the bag 1. The 1 is then brought to a vertical position and the contents thereof pass down through the collar strip 12 and deposit in the bag 2. Inasmuch as the parts fit snugly against each other, there are apertures through which the dust may escape into the atmospheric air as it is being transferred from the bag 1 to the bag 2.
As the lar strip is expanded or contracted, the cverlapp portions of the blades 21 may slide with rela 1 to each other and thus the blades will close the opening at all times and prevent the escapeinent of dust.

A device for transferring dust from a sweep' er bag into a receptacle, comprising .a container for the receptacle, a cover for the container, said cover having an opening, a collar having slidable overlapping end portions, one of said end portions being fixed to the cover at the opening thereof, blades attached to the collar and having end portions slidable under the top of the cover,

A device for transferring dust from a sweeper-lbag into areceptacle, comprising a container forthe receptacle, a cover for thecontainer, said cover having an opening, .a collar having slidable overlapping end portions, one of said end por tions being fixed to the cover at the opening thereof, blades attached to the collar and having end portions slidable under the .top of the cover,
the adjacent blades having overlapping edge portions, a guide plate attached to the cover and having an edge disposed under the overlapping portions of the blades, said collar adapted to enter the mouth of the sweeping bag, and means for dilating the collar.

A device for transferring dust from a sweeper bag into a receptacle comprising a container for the receptacle, a cover for the container, said cover having an opening, a collar having slidable overlapping end portions, spring means for holding the overlapped end portions of the collar in contact, one of said end portions being fixed to the cover at the opening thereof, blades attached to the collar and having end portions slidable underthetop of the cover, said collar adapted to enter the mouth of the sweeper bag, and means 'f or dilating the collar.

A'device for transferring dust from a sweeper bag into a receptacle comprising a container for-theleceptacle, a cover for the container, said cover-having an opening, a collar having slidable overlapping'end portions, one end portion of the collar havinga guide and the other end'portion of the collar having a tongue slidable .in said guide, one of said-end portions being fixed to the cover at the opening thereof, blades attached to the collar and having end portions slidable under the top ofnthe cover, said collar adapted to enter the mouth of the sweeping bag, and means for dilating the collar.
