This invention relates to cushions having re` moveable and interchangeable coverings, and relates more particularly to a cushion or pad for a babys high chair, rocker and the like. Cushions for high chairs have previously been provided with only a xed outer covering, waterproof or otherwise, and when they become soiled, a frequent occurence with babies, considerable diiculty is. experienced in cleaning them and keeping them fresh and sanitary.
One of the objects of the present invention is the provision of a new and useful and highly novel pad which is adapted to cushion the seat,
back and sides of `a high chair, rocker, or other A seat for infants, the embodiment having a sanitary and waterproof fixed or permanent covering and a removeable and washable outer covering. Another object of the invention is to provide a cushion of the kind above referred to wherein means are provided to secure the cushion member, as -well as the removable outer covering, to
- the sides and back of the chair or rocker, the means including a metal eyelet or grommet in each corner of the cushion, through which a narrow fabric tape may pass, the outer covering likewise having an adjacent grommet on the rear -side thereof through which the tape passes to the outside where it is tied to the chair.
The invention also contemplates the provision of a device of this kind wherein a plurality of outer coverings may be provided in order that when one of the coverings becomes soiled it may be" instantly removed for cleaning and another one placed on the cushion.
Still another object of the invention is the provision of a cushion, principally for babys chairs, which by virtue of its novel construction, is exceedingly comfortable and is likewise very durable because -of the fact that all of the wear is upon the cover which is removeable and interchangeable.'
Still another object of the invention is to provide a waterproof cushion having a removeable outer covering for childrens play pens and the like.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will be hereinafter specifically pointed out or will become apparent as the specication proceeds.

Referring now to said drawing by reference numerals, the embodiment in its preferred form 1ncludes a cushion 10 for the back and sides of the chair 11 and a separate cushion 12 for the seat portion thereof. The cushion 10 comprises a cushion member and a removeable covering therefor, the cushion member including an upright rectangular portion 15 adapted to t the back of the chair, and rectangular side portions 16 and 17, integral therewith, and adapted to cushion the sides of the chair. The cushion member is constructed preferably of waterproof material and contains a filing of felt, hair or other resilient material 18 and is provided with vertical seams 19 between the central or back portion 15 and the side portions 16 and V17, the seams enabling the side portions to t the sides of the chair more readily.
The outer covering is made from suitable washable fabric and comprises a rectangular central portion 21 to t over the central portion 15 of the cushion, and side portions 22 and 23 which cover the side portions of the cushion. The side portions 22 and 23 of the outer covering are also provided with pockets 24. 95
A longitudinal opening 25 is provided in the lower edge of the central portion 21 of the outer covering, the opening being adapted to be retained in a closed position. by means of a plurality of buttons and button holes, 25', or by means of 100 a slide fastener or other similar means. Thus when the outer covering is soiled, or it is desired` to remove it for any other reason, the buttons are disengaged from the button holes and the cushion member removed.
-The following means are provided for retaining the cushion member in place within the outer covering and for securing the embodiment ,to a chair. Each corner of the cushion member" is provided with a small aperture 26 in which is se- 110 cured a small eyelet-or grommet 27. Each corner of the outer covering is also provided with an aperture 28, on the rear side thereof, in which a grommet 29 is secured. A ribbon or fabric tape 30 passes through the grommet 27 in the cushion member and out through the grommet 29 in the covering, and is tied to the adjacent portion of the chair as illustrated in Fig. 1. Likewise, the tape may be sewed to the cushion member, or any other suitable means may be employed for securing the cushion 'and/or the covering to the chair.
The seat cushion 12 is provided with a cushion member having a waterproof covering (not shown) and a removeable outer covering 31 having similar grommets 32 and tapes 33. An opening 34 is also provided in order to enable the cushion to be removed, the opening having a plurality of buttons and button holes 35 or other fastening means in order to close the opening.
An elongated or rectangular embodiment of a similar construction to the seat cushion 12 may be provided for baby carriages and a larger embodiment with atufted bottom may also be provided for childrens play pens and the like, theremoveable, Washable covering over the waterproof cushion allowing for the easy cleaning of the embodiment and making it more sanitary as well. The hereinbefore described construction admits of considerable modification without departing from the invention; therefore, it is the wish not to be limited to the precise arrangements shown and described, which are, as aforesaid, by way of illustration merely. In other words, the scope of protection contemplated is to be taken solely from the appended claims, interpreted as broadly as is consistent with the prior art.
What I claim is:
1. A cushion for infants high chairs including a waterproof cushion member adapted to t the back and sides of the chair, a waterproof cushion' member for the seat portion thereof and removeable outer coverings for said cushion members, said outer coverings having openings therein through which the `cushion members may be removed, and closure means for maintaining said openings normally in a closed position, the former cushion member including a rectangular central portion, integral rectangular side portions on each side of said central portion and a seam between said side portions and said central portion, the corners of the cushion members and the coverings having apertures therein, reinforcing grommets secured within said apertures, tape adapted to pass through said apertures and adapted to be tied to the adjacent portions of the chair.

A cushion for infants high chairs including a waterproof cushion member adapted to t the back and sides of the chair, a waterproof cushion member for the seat portion thereof and removeable cuter coverings for said cushion members, said outer coverings having openings therein through which the cushion members may be removed, and closure means for maintaining said openings normally in a closed position, the former cushion member including a rectangular central portion, rectangular side portions on each side of said central portion, the cushion members and the coverings having apertures therein, tapes adapted to pass through said apertures and adapted to be tied to the adjacent portions of the chair.
3. A cushion for infants high chairs including a Waterproof cushion member adapted to fit the back and sides of the chair, a waterproof cushion member for the seat portion thereof and removable outer coverings forsaid cushion members, said outer coverings having openings therein through which the cushion members may be removed, and closure means for maintaining said openings normally in a closed position, the former cushion member including a rectangular central portion, rectangular side portions on each vertical edge of said central portion, the corners of the coverings having apertures therein, tapes secured to the cushion members and adapted to pass through said apertures in the coverings.
4. A cushion for infants high chairs including a waterproof cushion member adapted to t the back and sides of the chair, a waterproof cushion member for the seat portion thereof and removeable outer coverings for said cushion members, said outer coverings having openings therein through which the cushion members may be removed, and closure means for maintaining said openings normally in a closed position, the former cushion member including a rectangular centralP portion, integral rectangular side portions on each side of said central portion, the corners of the coverings having apertures there in, reinforcing grommets secured within said apertures, tapes' secured to `the cushions and adapted to pass through said apertures and to be tied to the adjacent portions of the chair.
5. A cushion for infants high chairs including a Waterproof cushion member adapted to nt the back and sides of the chair, a waterproof cushion member for the seat portion thereof and removeable outer coverings for said cushion members, said outer coverings having openings therein through which the cushion members may be removed, and closure means for maintaining said openings normally in a closed position, the former-cushion member including a rectangular central portion, rectangular side portions on each side of said central portion, the coverings having a plurality of apertures therein, tapes adapted to pass through said apertures and adapted to be tied to the adjacent portions of the chair.
