4 Claims; (crisis-173) This invention relates to a cabinet, useful for many purposes, but more especially useful for storing tools.

The invention has as an object to-produce a 5 cabinet of the present character which will be of novel and improved construction, and will comprise a plurality of sections, including a stationary rearward section and a plurality of movable forward sections each forming a part of one of the side walls of the cabinet and providing a partition for said cabinet upon which articles, such as tools, can be supported.

A further object is to provide a cabinet including movable sections providing partitions for the cabinet as stated, wherein said movable sections will be hingedly supported in such manner that both surfaces of each of said partitions will be readily accessible to receive articles, such as tools, to be supported thereon.

A further object is to provide a cabinet including hinged sections providing partitions as set forth, adapted to support articles upon both of the opposite surfaces thereof, said cabinet also having a rearward inner surface adapted to support articles, such as tools, the whole being arranged so that there will be within the cabinet, and in conveniently spaced relation to each other, a maximum number of article or tool supporting surfaces.

A further object is to provide a cabinet asset forth in the. preceding paragraph, wherein the movable sections will be so related to each other and to the stationary section of the cabinet that said cabinet when closed will be of rectilinear or box-like form to occupy or require but a minimum of space. And a still further object is to provide a cabinet of the present nature which may additionally include drawers for receiving articles, such I as tools, said drawers being mounted upon one or several of the surfaces of said partitions, or upon some other internal surface, or surfaces, of said cabinet.

With the above objects in View, as well as others which will appear as the specification proceeds, the invention, comprises the construction, arrangement and combination of parts as now to be fully described and as hereinafter to be specifically claimed, it being understood that the disclosure herein is merely illustrative and intended in no way in a limiting sense, changes in details of construction and arrangement of parts being permissible so long as within the spirit of port articles, such as tools, and a hinged closure door the inner surface of which is adapted to supthe invention and the scope. of the claims which follow.-

, With respect to the drawing and the numerals of reference thereon, 10 represents the bottom orv base oi the cabinet upon the rearward portion of which the stationary section of said cabinet is suitably fixed. Said stationary section consists of the rearward, vertical wallll of the cabinet, and the rearward parts, designated 12 and '13, respectively, of the vertical sidev walls of said cabinet. The part 13, at the right in Figs. 1 and 3, is about twice the width of the part 12, at the left in said Figs. 1 and'3. The cabinet also in- 30 cludes a top 14, which may desirably be of the form of the bottom or base 10, and the stationary. section is secured to the rearward portion of said top 14 in about the same manner as, to said bottom or base of the cabinet, See Fig. 1.

The forward edge portion of the part 12 hingedly supports, as at 15, an inner movable section of, the cabinet, which mentioned section consists of a movable element 16 constituting the" remainder of the side wall of the cabinet having'the part 12 and a partition 17 of said cabinet. Said movable element 16 and-said partition 1'7 are fixedly secured together in right angle relation to each other, and the hinges 15 are attached to the mentioned or inner movable section at the 95. location where the element 16 and the partition 17 meet. The arrangement is such that when the inner movable section is in closed position, the partlZ and the element 16 are in alinement to constitute a continuous side wall of the'cabinet, and the partition 17 extends transversely of the cabinet, as shown more clearly in Fig. The part 13 suitably carries upper and lower stop members 18 for better limiting inward swinging movement of the inner movable section, as will be more clear from Figs. 2 and 3. The forward edge portion of the part 13 hingedly supports, as at 19, a forward or outer movable section of the cabinet, which mentioned section consists of a movable element 20 consti- 11 0 tuting the remainder of the side wall of the cabinet having the part 13, and a partition 21 of said cabinet. Said movable element 20 and said partition 21 are fixedly secured together in right angle relation to each other, and the hinges 19 are attached to the mentioned or outer movable section at location where the element 20 and the partition 21 meet. The arrangement is such that when the outer movable section is in closed position, the part 13 and the element 20 are in alinement to constitute the other continuous side wall of the cabinet, and the partition 21 extends transversely of the cabinet, as also shown" more clearly in Fig. 3. The element 16' istwice as wide as the element 20. I

As disclosed, partition 21 is spaced a distance from the partition 17 about equal to the distance said partition 17 is spaced from the inner surface 22 of the rearward wall 11 of the cabinet, and said partition 21 is also spaced about this same distance from the front side of the cabinet-.- The lower portion of the forward surface of the partition 1'7 suitably supports a horizontal drawer 23, which drawer servesas means "for limiting inward swinging movement of the forward or outer movable section, as will be more clear from Figs. 2 and 3.

The forward edge portion of the element 20 hingedly supports, as at 24, a closure door 25 for the cabinet. When the closure door 25 isin closed position, its free vertical edge portion engages against the forward edge portion of the element 16, as shown more clearly in Fig. 3.

,Any suitable means (not shown) may be em--' ployed to lock the closure door 25' inshut position.

The lower portion of the forward surface of the partition 21 suitably supports a horizontal drawer 26, between said partition 2-1 and the closure door 25, said drawer 26 being similar to the drawer 23'.

The inner surface of the closure door 25', the inner surface 22 of the rearward wall 11 of the cabinet, and the opposite surfaces of the

17 and 21, are all adapted to support articles, such as tools, which articles can be hung upbn said surfaces by hooks, clamps, or in any other convenient manner. The

It will be apparent that the cabinet when closed is of box-like configuration to consume a minimumcf space. It will also be apparent that the cabinet is equipped to carry amaximum number 7 or amount of tools or other articles. The relation of the stationary and movable sections of the cabinet to each other provides a quite compact structure; and the movable sections are so mounted that any tool or article stored in the cabinet- 7 can be easily and readily'removed from the cabiwhich are, as shown, but not necessarily, of equal size.

I claim:

1. A cabinet comprising a base and top, a fixed rearward wall of said cabinet extending between said base and top, fixed vertical members adjoining the opposite side edge portions of said rearward wall and extending between said base and top; one of said fixed vertical members being narrower than the other said fixed vertical members constituting parts of the side walls of said cabinet, and said rearward wall together with the narrower of said fixed vertical. members and a'portionof the wider of said fixed vertical members constituting a rearward stationary section of said cabinet, an inner forward section hingedly mounted upon the narrower of said fixed vertical members, said inner forward section the remainder of the side wall of the cabinet including said narrower member and providing a partitionexten'd'ing' the full distance across said cabinet, and an outer forwarcsection hingedl-y mounted upon the wider of said fixed vertical rriemb'ers-, said outer forward section forming the remainder of the side wall of the cabinet including said wider member and providing a second partition extending the full distance across said cabinet,- said partitions being in spaced relation to each other and to the forward and rearward portions of the cabinet.

2-. A cabinet comprising a base and top, a fixed rearward wall of said cabinet extending between said base and top, fixed vertical member's adjoining the opposite side edge portions of said rearward wall and extending between said base and top, one of said fixed vertical members being narrower than the other said fixed vertical members constitutingparts of the side walls of said cabinet, and said rearward walltogetli with the narrower of said fixed vertical me; and a portion of the wider of said fixed vertical members constituting a rearward stationary section of said cabinet, an inner forward section hingedly mounted upon the narrower of said fixed verticalmembers, said inner forward section forming the remainder of the side wall of the cabinet includ ing said narrower member and providing a partition extending the full istance across said cabinet, and an outer forward section iiing'edly mounted upon the wider of said verticalmembers, said outer forward section forming the remainder of the side wall of the cabin-ct including said wider member and providing a rid partition extending the full distance aoro; s cabinet, and a closure door for said cabinsu mounted upon the outer forward section thereof, said partitions being in spaced relation to each other and to the rearward wall of saidcabinet and the closure door thereof.

3'.- The combination as specified in claim 1, and a container supported at the lower end of at least one of said partitions and situated within said cabinet when closed.

4. The combination as specified in claim 2, and a container supported at the lower end of each of said partitions and situated within said cabinet when closed.
