It will readily be seen that an improved pneumatic horn has been provided in which a strainer element has been embodied to insure long periods of satisfactory operation by eliminating the admission of foreign matter to the diaphragm chambers of the horn, which in the past has been a source of diiiiculty. It will also be seen that the strainer element of the present invention is readily accessible for inspection, repairor replacement without necessitating the removal.

While the invention has been described in considerable detail in the foregoing specification, it will be understood that various changes may be made in its embodiment without departing from or sacrificing anyv of the advantages as hereinafter claimed. 7
Having now described my invention, what I claim as new and .desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. The combination with a sound producing device comprising a body portion provided with a diaphragm chamber and having a mounting bracket formed integral. with said'body portion and having an attaching face and a side face and provided with a bore accessible from the side face, through which fluid is supplied to said diaphragm chamber, of a strainer mountedin said bore for removing foreign matter from fluid supplied to said chamber.
2. The combination with a sound producing device comprising a body portion provided with adiaphragm chamber and having a mounting bracket formed integral with said body portion and provided with a bore, through which fluid is-supplied to said diaphragm chamber, of astrainer mounted in said bore for removing for-.
eign matter from fluid supplied to said chamber, said bore having an atmosphere opening through which said strainer may be removed, and a removable plug for closing said opening. A pneumatic horn comprising a body portion, a diaphragm chamber in said body portion, a mounting bracket formed integral with said body portion and having an attaching face and a side face provided with an opening, a straining chamber in said mounting bracket communicating with the diaphragm chamber and the said opening, astrainer in said strainer chamber adapted to remove foreign matter from fluid supplied to said diaphragm chamber and accessible through the said opening, and means for releasably retaining said strainer in said strainer chamber.
7. A pneumatic horn comprising a body portion, a diaphragm chamber in said body portion, a mounting bracket formed integral with said body portion, a bore in said mounting ,bracket,'ai
strainer in said bore'adapted to remove foreign .matter from fluid supplied to said diaphragm chamber, means for releasably retaining said strainer in said bore and removable means associated with'said bore adapted to facilitate the application of said strainer to said bore.
8. A pneumatic horn comprising a body portion,

mounting bracket formed integral with said body portion, a bore in said mounting bracket, a strainer in said bore adapted to remove foreign matter from fluid supplied to, said diaphragm chamber, said strainer comprising a mass of pervious material, perforated means for confining said mass of pervious material, means for releasably retaining said strainer in said bore, and a removable plug associated with said bore to facilitate application of said strainer to said bore.

A sound producer comprising a casing having a pair of diaphragm chambers, a mounting bracket formed integral with said casing and having an attaching face and a side face provided with an opening and having a strainer chamber through which fluid under pressure is supplied to separate passages leading to said diaphragm chambers, and a fluid strainer mounted in said strainer chamber and accessible through said opening. 11. A fluid actuated acoustic signal comprising a supply pipe, a casing havingastrainer chamber connected with the supply pipe and a diaphragm chamber connected with the strainer chamber by a passage of relatively small flow area,
and a strainer within the strainer chamber through which fluid flows from the supply pipe to the said passage and diaphragm chamber, the
said strainer having a relatively large flow area relative to that of the said passage.
12, A fluid actuated acoustic signal comprising a supply pipe, a casing having a strainer chamber connected with the supply pipe and communicating with an opening in the said casing and a diaphragm chamber connected to the strainer chamber by a passage accessible through said opening, a strainer within the strainer chamv her through which fluid flows from the supply pipe to the said passage and diaphragm chamber, the said strainer being accessible through the said opening, and a closure for the said opening.
