Description
UNITED STATES JOHN F. ZIMMERMAN,
OF ORESTLINE, OHIO.
IMPROVEMENT IN WINDOW-BRACKETS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 192,727, dated July 3, 1877; application filed April 2, 1877.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN F. ZIMMERMAN, of Urestline, in the county of Crawford and State of Ohio, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Plant-Shelf for Windows, of which the following is a specification:
Figure l is a vertical cross-section of my improved plant-shelf, the window-frame be ing also shown in vertical section. Fig. 2 is a top view of the same, the window-frame being shown in cross-section through the line as m, Fig. l.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
The object of this invention is to furnish an improved shelf for attachment to windowframes to receive flower-pots, which shall be simple in construction, easily attached and detached, inexpensive in manufacture, and when detached will not leave the windowframe maimed or disfigured.
The shelf is supported by means of arms or bars, which are so connected with it as to admit of adjustment according to the width of different window-casings, as hereinafter described. B are the bars, which may be made.
of hoop-iron or other suitable material, the
sides of the ends of which are placed against the sides of the window casing or frame. The upper edge of the ends of the bars B are notched to receive screws 0, which are screwed into the window-frame. The lower edge of the bars B may rest upon the window-ledge or upon other screws screwed into the windowframe. A is the shelf, which may be a board attached to the bars B, or the bars B may be the arms of a wide and short Ubar, and the shelf may be formed of woven wire. In any case the shelf is attached to a rod or rods, which constitutes the frame. connected to the shelf A by means of bands or wire loops at, which pass around said rod or rods and slide thereon, so that the bars may be adjusted nearer or farther apart, according to the width of the window-casing.
What I claim is- The combination of the adjustable bars B and connecting-loops a with the shelf A, as
shown and described, for the purpose specified.
