' forinstance, by stenographers to hold their notebooks during transcription. The object of the invention is to provide an efficient and inexpensive device for such a use or similar uses The invention will be understood by reference to the following description taken in connection with theaccompanying drawing, wherein:

I The holder is preferably constructed from sheet metal bent into the general form of an easel and having a body portion to underlie the book, herein shown as constructed from two overlapping parts 5 and 7 which may be adjustably joined together as by means of the slots 9 in one receiving the bolts 11 carried by the other, this permitting the width of the body portion to be adjusted as desired, the parts being held clamped in adjusted position by means of the wing nuts 13. The central parts bent downwardly to formthe supporting feet 15 which may be shaped as shown in Fig. 1 to support the body at 'a desired inclination. The lower or rear end of part 5 may be bent upwardly to provide aflange 17 forming a ledge or support for the book. r
