IMPROVEMENT IN CORN-MARKERS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent N 0. 192,534, dated J une 26, 1877; application filed January 29, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, HENRY O. SHARP and WILLIAM T. SHAEP, of the county of Stanton and State of Nebraska, have invented a new and useful Oorn-Ground-Marking Machine, which invention is fully set forth in the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing.
The object of our invention is to facilitate the process of marking out corn-ground, at the same time making it easy on the person who operates the machine, as well as being easy on the team.
a a is the main frame, in which the axle 0, having the hub or other wheels I) b adj ustably secured thereto, has its bearings. To the ends of said frame are hinged wings d d, provided with adjustable runners e e. A seat, f, is suitably mounted upon the cross-bars g g of the main frame. 0 is a rope, which is secured at its ends to the wings d d, and thence passes over pulleys in the uprights j j, and thence to the circular lever i, where it is also fastened. The end of the lever 6 upon the right of the driver passes through the cross-piece g, and has an eye formed upon its end, into which the crooked lever h is inserted, for the purpose of depressing the lever i, and thus elevating the wings d d. k is a ratchet-standard, to which the lever h may be secured after elevating the wings d d. Z is a foot-board. A common wagon tongue is attached to the frame by means of the hounds m m, and for the better support of said hounds a short piece of timber, n, is bolted to the main frame.
The wings may be firmly held in an upright position by means of bolts passing through the center of the wings and the uprights.
What we claim as our invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The wings (I d, having runners e e on their outer ends, hinged to the main frame a a, having uprights j j, in combination with the levers h i, and acord secured to the lever '5, and thence passing over pulleys in the uprights j 7', and secured to the wings d d, for elevating said Wings, substantially as shown and described.
