(climb- 42) This invention concerns improvements in or relating to pens, and has particular reference to fountain pens. Inconveniences frequently businessmen and others due. to the lack of blotting paper with which to blot writing on cheques and so forth, and it is the primaryobject of this invention to provide. means whereby. this inconveniencdmay .be obviated.

In the construction illustrated the blotting roller 8 is pivotally mounted upon a. spindle 11, the reduced ends 12 of this spindle engaging in apertures in the parallel arms 13 of a substantially f U shaped frame.

The frame is pivotally mounted upon a rivet 14 secured in aligned holes in the connecting or base portion 15 of the frame, and a projecting arm 16 of a supporting bracket 17 secured to The bracket 17 is attached'to the cap 2 by means of an integral projection 18' inserted through an aperture in the end of the cap and riveted over on the inside, the arm 16 extending parallel to the axis of the cap.

The yoke is provided with a further upstanding arm 19 disposed diametrically opposite to the arm 16, and whilst this arm has no direct connection to the roller or to the supporting frame I therefor it serves to locate the roller and prevent the latter moving out of alignment with the axis of the pen except any movement around the pivot 14 when it is desired to use the roller.

In this construction operation of the device is simplified since the interference with the opera tion of the roller by parts of the supporting structure therefor is reduced to a minimum, and the blotting roller may be used in a number of posi s tions with respect to the axis of the pen as will be apparent from the perspective view shown in Figure 2. v

,The operation of removing or renewing the blotting roller is greatly facilitated since it is only necessary to distort one of the arms 13 out of engagement with the reduced end 12 of the spindle 11, the roller together with the spindlebeing then free to leave the frame.
