1 Claim.
This invention relates to a Wrecking tool and it consists in the. novel scribed and claimed.
While the tool is espe features hereinafter decially adapted to be used to advantage by wrecking contractors it can be conveniently used by others as for instance remen, farmers, campers, and others.
In general the spaced shoulders soldiers, sailors, explorers tool consists of a handle having thereon with a grip of insulating material located between said shoulders and surrounding the handle.
The handle is provided at one end with a chiseled edge or prying edge and at its other end with a head. The head is provided at one end with a pointed claw adapted to be used for pulling nails and having a cutting edge adjacent said the head is provided with The head is provided with be used for chopping.

The tool comprises a thereon spaced shoulde handle 1 of metal having rs 2 and 3. A grip 4 is located between the shoulders 2 and 3 and sur- The grip 4 may be of wood, other suitable insulating 1 is provided at one end rounds the handle 1. fiberized rubber or any material. .The handle and the said head is provided at one end with a cutting edge l adapted to be used for chopping.
A recess 8 is provided at the inner edge of the head 6 and may be used for drawing nails. The
head 6 is provided at it s other end with a sharp point 9 which may be used as a pry. The head is also provided at its inner edge with a claw 10 which is spaced from the point 9. A cutting edge 11 is located between the point 9 and the claw 10. The claw 10 may be used for lifting staples or nails and the edge 11 may wire or similar material. the point 9 may be used The head 6 is provide be'used for cutting During such operation as a fulcrum point.
d with an opening 12 and 1931. Serial No. 579,932
a jaw 13 is slidable in said opening. One end of the opening 12 is provided with converging sides 14 and one edge of the jaw 13 is provided with a recess 15. The jaw 13 may be shifted in the opening 12 to grasp a` nut of any shape be- 60 tween the walls of the recess 15 and the end walls 14 of the opening. The jaw v13 is provided with a threaded shank 16 one end of which is adapted to enter a socket 17 provided in the head 6 which is reduced in thickness to provide aV web- 65 portion back of said jaw. A plate 17 is appliedV to the side ofthe web portion, is flush with the outer face of the head and is recessed, together with the web, to embrace and hold the shank 16v in alinement with the socket 17. A nut 70 13 Vis screwed upon the shank 16 on the opposite side of the web portion from the jaw and passes transversely through the head 6. The edges of the opening which receives the nut 18 serve as means for preventing the said nut 75 from moving laterally in the head when the nut is turned. It is apparent that by turning the nut 18 the jaw 13 may be shifted in the opening 12 so that the recess of the jaw andthe end of the opening may receive nuts of different sizes. When a nut is secured between the jaw 13 and the end of the opening the handle 1 Vmay Vbe swung around the axis of the secured nut and thus the said nut may be removed from the thread of the bolt (not shown).
While the tool is primarily intended to be used`l for wrecking purposes it may also be used to advantage for other purposes and by reason of the fact that the handle is provided with an insulating grip the user will not be subjected to a shockv should the tool come in contact with an electrically charged piece of metal.
The part 5 is provided with an opening 5 which may be used conveniently as a wrench. The head 6 is provided adjacent the claw 10 with a curved, recess 10 which makes it possible to use the ele-`-v ment as means for connecting and disconnecting hose couplings which are provided with pins or lugs. When the head is applied, the pin or lug is received within the recess 10. The openingvn. 12 in the head may be increased or diminished in size or shape by adjusting the jaw 13 so that the said opening may receive nuts of diierent sizes or shapes.r The point 9 may be a chisel 105 point `and the head is provided lwith a curvedl-' edge 9' adjacent said point. This edge may serve as a rolling edge when the point 9 is used for prying material apart. If the point 9 be provided with a chisel'edge and the edge 9 is of the A110 Cil Aes
provided with an opening disposed to one side of the axis of the handle with its medial longitndinal dimension at a right angle to the axis of Y the handle, a jaw slidable in said opening and having a threaded shank, the head having a socket for said shank arranged in the aXis of said opening, a nut threaded upon the shank and disposed in a transverse opening in Jthe head, the head being reduced in lthickness to provide a Web portion between said jaW and said nut in which is formed a semi-circular depression as a clearance space for said shank, and a detachable plate applied to the head against said Web, said plate having a clearance space for said shank eomplemental to the clearance space in said web.
