IMPROVEMENT m ROWING-GEAR.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 192,382, dated June 26, 1877; application filed February 28, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN W. MELCHER, of Oshkosh, in the county of Winnebago, and in the State of Wisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Rowing- Gear 5 and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being bad to the accompanying drawing, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, making a part of this specification.
The object of my invention is to enable a person, when rowing, to sit facing the bow of boat; and this is done by the combination of rowing-gear, consisting of handle it and drawbar 01, connected to the oar, with the pin lin.

It will be evident that the slot in the iron a could be made in the iron under the drawbar around the oar and band 0, and a head on the pin 1 would answer the same purpose to operate and feather the oar as the slot shown.
