'This invention relates to oillfolds; and an obiect is to provide an improved billfold including an outer wall having longitudinally spaced wall forming sections attached to the inner side thereof along the outer ends and lower edges and having a sliding panel in ccoperative engagement therewith to close the space between said wall forming sections and complete the formation of the inner wall of the bill compartment, and to provide novel pocket forming means in connection with one of said wall forming sections.

Another object of the invention is to provide an improved billfold having walls forming a compartment for bills and forming pockets in com-- binatlon with pocket forming means attached i thereto in a novel manner and forming an additional pocket sprovided with a closure in connection with one of said first pockets.

Other objects will appear from the following description, reference being made to the accompanying drawings, in which- Fig. l is a view showing the inside of the billiold open or extended with a part of one of the pockets broken away.

Fig. 2 is an upper edge view of the billfold in its open or extended adjustment.

Fig. 3 ls a view showing a portion of the outer wall of the billfold broken away and showing the edge of the auxiliary or change pocket forming section attached to one of the sections forming the inner wall of a bill compartment.

My improved billfold comprises a section 1 of flexible and pliable material substantially rectangular in side elevation and having its outer surface finished so as to present an ornamental and pleasing appearance. The panel 1 may be composed of leather, or other appropriate material, and the inner side may be left unfinished, as will be understood by reference to Fig. 5.

This section of material 13 is extremely pliable and permits a sliding 9 movement of the wall forming member l1 into and from the pocket between the walls 8 and 9, so that said wall 11 will fold easily transversely of its width between the ends of the pocket forming walls with which it is engaged without buck- 95 ling and irrespective of the variation in the thick ness of the contents in the compartment 2. The end of the wall forming section 11 that is secured to the wall 3 terminates between the inner end member of the frame 4 and the wall 3, so that lo wall 3, the frame 4 and said section 14 of trans- 105 parent material is visible.

The lower edge of the wall 11 is spaced above the row of stitches 5 which continues into the row of stitches 10. The inner surface of the wall l above the folds 6 and 7 and above the upper edge of the wall l1 is covered by a ply of leather 16 having an exposed finished surface and secured to the wall 1 by a row of stitches 17.

In connection with the wall 9, I provide a change pocket. 'I'he change pocket includes a wall 18 having its outer edge engaged by the transverse row of stitches 10 and having its upper edge spaced below the fold line 7 and secured to the upwardly folded marginal portion 19 of a section 20 of flexible and pliable material, such as leather. 'Ihe section 20 has its upper edge extending over the fold 'l and downwardly against the inner surface of the wall 8 and secured thereto by fastening means, such as a row of stitches 21. The section 20 also extends downwardly at the outer side of the wall 9 and folds upwardly along a,v fold line 22 (Fig. 9) to provide the marginal portion 19 that has its edge attached to the upper edge of the wall forming member 18 by the row of stitches 23.

The lower edge of the wall 18 is attached by a row of stitches 24 to the downwardly folded marginal portion 25 of' a section of flexible and pliable material 26 that is folded along the line 27 and has the lower edge of its inner portion engaged by the stitches 10.

Thus, a pocket 28-is provided between the walls 18 and 9 and said pocket has its inner end open and is provided at its side edges with folded flexible and pliable members 20 and 26 which permit the pocket to be distended or folded flatwise according to the requirements of the contents of the pocket.

A closure for the pocket 28 includes a flap 29 having one end extending into the pocket 28 for a suitable distance and attached to the wall 9 by a transverse row of stitches 30. The fiap 29 extends outwardly well beyond the inner end of the pocket 28 and is provided with a fastening member 31 designed and adapted to be engaged with a cooperating fastening member 32 in connection with the wall 18. Thus, the flap 29 may -be folded over and the fastening

31 and 32 engaged to close the pocket 28 and prevent the contents from dropping out.

The construction and arrangement of the parts comprising the invention may be varied within the scope of equivalent limits without departure from the nature and principle of the invention.

I claim:

1. In a billfold having inner and outer wall forming members cooperating to form between them a bill compartment, a section of flexible and pliable material having its upper edge extended into said compartment and attached to the inner side of said inner wall forming member and having its outer portion extending downwardly against the outer side of the inner wall forming member and folded upwardly upon itself, an additional section of flexible and pliable material having its lower edge attached to the lower edge of said inner wall forming member and having its upper portion folded downwardly upon itself, and a wall forming member having its upper and lower edges attached to the edges of said sections respectively and having its outer end attached to the outer end of said inner wall forming member.

2. In a billfold having inner and outer Wall forming members providing a bill compartment between them, a section of flexible and pliable material having its upper edge extending 4into said cmnpartment between said wall forming members and attached to the inner side of said inner wall forming member and having its outer portion extending downwardly against the outer side of the inner wall forming member and folded upwardly upon itself, a wall forming member having its upper edge attached to the outer edge of said section and having its outer end attached to the outer end of said inner wall forming member, and flexible means connecting the lower edge of said last named wall forming member with the lower portion of said inner wall forming member.

'3. In a billfold having inner and outer wall forming members cooperating to form between them a bill compartment, flexible and pliable wall forming material having its lower edge and outer end attached respectively to the lower edge and outer end of said inner wall forming member and having its upper edge extending over the inner wall forming member and downwardly into said compartment and presenting a finished surface toward the inner surface of said outer wall forming member, and means securing the upper edge of said wall forming material to said inner wall forming member within said compartment.

4. In a billfold having inner and outer wall forming members cooperating to form between them a bill compartment, and flexible and pliable wall forming material secured to said members along its lower edge and outer end respectively and having its upper edge extending into said compartment and attached to said inner wall forming member below the upper edge of said inner wall forming member and having its inner edge detached from said inner wall forming member.

5. In a billfold having inner and outer wall forming members cooperating to form between them a bill compartment, and flexible and pliable wall forming material secured to said members along its lower edge and outer end respectively and having its upper edge extending into said compartment and attached to said inner wall forming member below the upper edge of said inner wall forming member and having its inner edge detached from said inner wall forming member, said flexible and pliable wall forming material cooperating with said inner wall forming member to form a pocket that is open at its inner end.

6. In a billfold having inner and outer wall forming members cooperating to form between them a bill compartment, flexible and pliable wall forming material secured to said members along its lower edge and outer end respectively and having its upper edge extending into said compartment and attached to said inner wallA forming member below the upper edge of said inner wall forming member and having its inner edge detached from said inner wall forming member, said fiexiblerand pliable wall forming material cooperating with said inner wall forming member to form a pocketthat is open at its inner end, and a closure flap for said pocket having one end attached to said inner wall forming member within said pocket and having its outer end adapted to extend across the inner end of said wall forming material and lie against the outer surface thereof. '7. In a billfold having inner and outer wall forming members connected along their outer ends and lower longitudinal edges and cooperating to form between them a bill compartment; a wall of substantially less Width than and spaced approximately equidistant from the upper and lower edges of and having its outer end attached to said inner wall forming member, and two sections of flexible and pliable material, one having its lower edge attached to the lower edge of said inner wall forming member and the other having its upper lower edges of and having its outer end attached to said inner wall forming member, two sections of flexible and pliable material, one having its lower edge attached to the lower edge of said inner wall forming member and the other having its upper edge enfolding the upper edge and vattached to the concealed side of said inner wall forming member, and said sections, having reverse folded portions connected along their edges with the lower and upper edges respectively of said wall at substantial distances from the attachment of said sections to said inner wall forming member, and a flap having one end portion foldable against the outer side of said wall and having the opposite end extending into the space between said two sections and said inner wall forming member and attached to said inner wall forming member.
