pocket-book made of twopieces of paper that are connected without'pasting or stitching in such a manner that twopockets are formed; and the invention consists of a pocket-book made of-a main' jp'ie'e and an auxiliary piece,
3 setsand extension-flaps form, with an extenwhich latter forms, with side gussets and extension-flaps ofthe' main piece, one of the pockets of the book? The main piece is made ofacontinuousblank, the oblong rear and front parts of which are connected by a bottom part, both the rear and front-parts being provided with side gussets having lateral extension-flaps. The front part and its side gussion-piece having a binding-flap, the second pocket of the book.. The rear' wall is provided with a closing top flap having locking-tongues that enter slots of the front wall.
In the accompanying drawings, Figures 1, 2,
3, 4, and 5 represent, respective] y, a front view,
a. vertical transverse section in closed position,
and main pieces a vertical transverse section in. open position,
anend view, and horizontalsectionof my improved paper pocket-book; andFigs. 6 and 7 P are the blanks, respectively, of the auxiliary oti which the pocketbook is formed.
- Similar letters of, reference indicate corresponding parts.
Ain the drawingsrepresents the main piece, and B the auxiliary piece, of my improved pa- -per pocket-book. 4Q
The mainjpiece A(shown in Fig. 7)is com- 1 posedofa rear part, a, anda front wall, a, both flap, e, extends from the' front wall, a, and is provided with a binding-flap, e, which latter isfolded down over the edgeof-theinwardly. bent extension-flaps d d of the side gussets connected by a bottom portion, 6?. The rear and front walls a a! aremade of'oblon sha e and .providedwith side gussets, b b b b, and lateral extensio rflaps d d (1 d. A locking- Application filed March 3, 1883. (ModeL) b b, so as to lock them together and form a pocket with folding side gussets. At the upper end of the rear wall, a,is arranged a closingflap,f,.that"*is provided with locking-tongues rear part, a,byfirst inserting the part along the rear wall, a, back of the side gusset-s b b, then bringing the middle portion, 9, over the outside ofthe inwardly-folded extension-flaps d d, and finally foldingthe,retaining-flap g down over the edge of the flaps cl 6], so as to form therewith a second pocketwith folding side gussets, as shown in Figs. 3 and 4.
When closed by the top flaps, the pockets fold partly together and meet on a diagonal line, as shown in Fig. 2. In this manner a pocketbook is obtained that is made of two pieces, so as to form two pockets, the parts of which are connected without pasting or stitching, and forms a neat device for advertising-and otherpurposesh Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent l. A paper pocket-book having two pockets, made of a main piece, A, composed of a rear wall, a, connecting-bottom a front wall, a, the rear and front walls having folding side gussets,b b and b b, and lateral extension-flaps d d d cl, respectively, retaining-flaps c c, and closing top f, and an auxiliary piece, B,formed of sections 9 g 9 the auxiliary piece being applied to the extension-flaps J d of the rear wall, so as to form a pocket therewith, while the retaining-flap e 6 forms a pocket with the extension-flaps d d of the front wall, a, and
a locking device, f f made integral with the main lpiece A, substantially as set forth.
2. A blank for a paper pocket-book formed of a rear wa1l,a,bott0n1 a front wall, a, the rear and front parts having folding side gussets, b b and b b, and. lateral extension-flaps d d and d 61, respectively, a retaining-flap, e e, and a 5 closing top flapf, having loeking-tonguesf, integral therewith, fitting into slotsf f of the front part, substantially as set forth.
' In testimony that 1 claim the foregoing as my invention I havesigned my name in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
