IMPROVEMENT IN PICTURE-FRAMES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 192,178Qdatcd June 19, 1877; application filed April 30, 1877.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EDWARD MAUX, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented anew and Improved Picture-Frame, of which the following is a specification In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 other pictures may be readily inserted without being pasted or otherwise attached to the same, the frame admitting thereby the exchanging of pictures and the quicker framing of the same.
The invention consists of a passe-partont with a backing having a suitable opening for the pictures, and being placed back of the face lining of the covering-glass.
In the drawing, A represents a passe-partout of the usual construction, and of any suitable size and finish, which is provided, back a of the face-lining of the glass, with an additional pasteboard or other fra me or backing,
B, that forms, by an opening, a, of about the size of the picture, a receptacle for inserting and retaining the photograph or other picture to be framed. The photograph is merely put in at one end between the frame B and the face-lining O, and sufliciently secured by the same for putting on the sliding or other back, requiring no pasting or othcrfastcning of the picture, and admitting the convenient changing of the picture at any time. A large class of picture-frames may thereby be used with greater facility, and the pictures secured therein in the exact position desired.
