IMPROVEMENT IN HORSESHOES.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 192,127, dated June 19, 1877; application filed December 18, 1876.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, CHARLES H. PERKINS, of Providence, in the State of Rhode Island, have made certain new and useful Improvements in Horseshoes; and I do hereby declare that the following specification, taken in connection with the drawings making a part of the same, is a full, clear, and exact description-thereof.
Figure 1 shows the under side of the shoe. Fig. 2 is a sectional elevation of the 'shoe. Fig. 3 is a plan of double blank. Fig. 4 is an showing inside of upper half of blank.
The object of my invention is to produce a shoe from the smallest possible amount of metal by rolling it in the Well-known form of a double blank, in such a manner that the thickness of any particular part of theshoe will be as near as possible in proportion to the strain it is called upon to withstand.

To accomplish the desired result I roll the blank in theform shown by Figs. 3 and 4 of the drawings-that is to say, in form tapering at the toe, while at the heel it presents a broad and gentle slope, as shown by the drawings.
Thus it will be seen that no more than the necessary quantity of metal is used, and that the thickness of anyone part of the shoe is equal to the amount of strain and wear that it is required to sustain.
What I claim as myinvention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A horseshoe constructed from blanks, substantially as described, with inner beveled edges A-that is to say, almost perpendicular upon the inside at the toe, while at the heel it presents a broad and gentle slope, as set forth.
