My invention relates to a combination safety-razor case and used blade receptacle. The primary object of the invention is to provide a razor case having associated therewith a receptacle adapted to receive used blades, enabling used blades to be quickly and conveniently-disposed of by the llSBl.
A further object of the invention is to pro vide an article of the above-mentioned character which is simple and durable in construction, reliable and efficient in use and inexpensive to manufacture.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will be apparent during the course of the following description.
In the accompanying.drawings, forming a part of this specification and in which like numerals are employed to designate likeparts throughout the same,
Fig. 1 is a front elevational View of the case,
Fig. same,
Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on lines 3-3 of Fig. 2 and,
2 is a vertical sectional view of the cover removed. 7
In the drawings, wherein for the purpose of illustration, I have shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, the case consists of a box-like structure 5, having side and end walls 6 and 7 and a bottom 8, which is transversely curved to provide a recess 9 for reception of a can or other like receptacle 10. The receptacle 10 is inserted into the case through the circular opening 11 formed in the front wall of the case, which is normally closed by the cover plate 12, hingedly connected to the edge of the opening, as at- 13, so 0 as to swing outwardly. A pivoted catch 14 secured to the edge of the cover plate is adapted to engage a stud 15 projecting from the front wall of the case, to secure the cover plate in closed position.
A cover 16 for the top of the case is hingedly connected to the upper edge of the rear wall of the case, as at 17, and at its opposite end is provided with a hasp 18 for securing the cover in closed position. A tray 19 is se- 5 cured in the top of the case and formed in 1932. Serial naczases.
the center of the tray and extending'longitudinally thereof, is a depression 20, com-f municating at one end with a transversely extending depression 21, said depressions forming a compartment for receiving a safe ty-razor. Arranged on opposite sides of the depression 20 and parallel thereto are re cesses 22 to receive packages of razor blades,
gated slot 24: from which depends a chute 25.
hingedly connected, as at 26, to one end of the slot. The sides of the chute 25 are tapered towards their lower edges and when the chute is swung downwardly the lower end is adapted to penetrate through the wall of the receptacle 10, establishingcommunication between the slot 24 and the receptacle.
In use, the tray 19, serves to support a conventional type of safety razor and packages of new blades which are readily accessible for use by raising the cover 1h. The Fig. at is a top view of the case with the handle of the safety razor is disposed in the depression 20 in covering relation to the slot 24. When it is desired to discard a used razor blade, the safety-razor is removed and the blade dropped into the slot 2%, being directed by the chute 25 into the can or receptacle 10. To empty the can 10, the cover plate 12 is opened and the can withdrawn from the case through the opening 11.
W hen a new can is inserted into the case the i chute 25 is pressed downward so that its lower end penetrates the wall of the can, thus establishing communication 2% and the can.
It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same and that certain changes in the shape, size and arrangement of the parts may be made without departingfrom the spirit of claims.
Having thus described claim:-
1. An article of the character described between the slot my invention, I
the invention or the scope of the .subjoined comprising a. casing, a tray mounted in the top of said casing having depressions for the reception of a safety razor, a receptacle disposed in said casing beneath said-tray, and a chute establishing communication between one of the depressions in said tray and said receptacle. a
2. An article of the character described comprising a casing, a tray mounted in the top of sald casing having depressions for the reception of a saitety razor, one of said depressions having an elongated slotin the bottom thereof, a chute depending from the slot in the bottom of said depression, hingedly connected to one end of the slot, and a receptacle disposed in said casing beneath said tray, adapted to be penetrated by the lower pressed thereof for the reception of a safety razor,
One ofsaid depressions having an elongated slot in the bottom thereof, and a chute disposed in said slot and depending therefrom, said chutev being hingedly connected to one end of the slot and adapted to penetrate said receptacle when swung downwardly.
