After the assembly of the tongue the split portion of the belt is stitched transversely on both sides of the pivot as at 17, and longitudinally adjacent the edges of the belt as at 18. |llhe belt is also stitched transversely as at 8a and the outer loop flis then assembled by inserting its inner bar between the sides of the split portion, after which the latter is stitched transversely adjacent the buckle end of the belt, as indicated at 11. Any desired manner of stitching may, of course, be employed and any other suitable means may be utilized for connecting or securing together the inner and outer sides of the split portion of the belt. The tongue cooperates with the outer loop in the same manner as tongues of buckles of the same type cooperate with an outer bar. The end portion of the belt constitutes the body portion of the buckle and provides a flexible buckle which will not only afford increased comfort by conforming to the configuration of the fitting flat against the body of the wearer, but which will also afford flexibility of manipulation and enable the belt to be buckled and unbuckled, more easily than belts having buckles of the saine type in which the spaced bars or loops are rigidly connected by integral metallic portions or equivalent structures.

In Figs. 5 and 6 of the drawing is illustrated another form of att-aching the elements of the flexible buckle to the end of the belt. Instead of splitting the end of the belt longitudinally a separate piece or patch 12 is stitched as shown at 19 around its marginal edges to the inner face or back of the belt adjacent the edges thereof to form with the end portion of the belt inner and outer poru tions between which the inner and.

12a and 13, and the tongue 14 with its pivot 15 are secured by stitching in the manner heretofore explained.

The tongue 14 is provided with an integral pivot 15 and extends through an aperture 16 in the buckle end of the belt. The tongue cooperates withthe outer loop in the manner heretofore explained. The separate piece or patch 12 is Vpreferably employed in the manufacture of belts of expensive leathers or materials in which it is preferable not to split the end of the belt longitudinally for one reason or another. rThe belt and the patch forin the inner and outer portions and provide the flexible connecting body portion of the buckle and the belt has the same flexibility of buckle structure as that illustrated in Figs. 1 to 4, inclusive. i

What is claimed is:

1. A flexible buckle belt, comprising a belt having a buckle end and an end provided with holes, inner and outer loops secured to the buckle end of the belt and spaced apart and projecting outwardly from the outer face of the belt to form openings for the insertion of the other end of the belt over the outer face of the buckle end of the belt, and a tongue having a pivot secured to the belt between the inner and outer loops, said tongue cooperating with the outer loop and adapted to enthe end of the belt having the said holes, the belt between the inner and outer loops constituting the body or theconnecting portion of the buckle 'to form a flexible buckle.

2. A flexible buckle belt, comprising a belt h aving buckle end and an end provided with holes, inner and outer oblong loops spaced apart and extending transversely of the belt and having their inner sides secured to the same, the said loops projecting outwardly from the outer face of the belt to form openin for insertion of the other end of the belt, and a tongue having a pivot secured to the belt at a point-,between the inner and outer loops, said tongue cooperating with the holes in the end of the belt and also with the outer loop and the portion of the belt between the loops constituting the body or connecting portion of the buckle to form a ilexible buckle.

A flexible buckle belt, comprising a belt having a buckle end provided with inner and outer portions, inner and outer oblong buckle loops having their inner sides secured between the inn-er and outer portions of the belt, the outer sides of the loops projecting from the outer face of the belt, and a tongue having a pivot secured between the inner and outer portions of the belt and cooperating with the outer buckle loop, the portion of the belt between the inner and outer loops constituting a flexible body portion for the buckle.

4l. A flexible buckle belt, comprising a belt having a buckle end provided with inner and outer portions, the outer portion being provided with an aperture, inner and outer buckle loops having inner bars secured to the inner and outer portions of the belt at opposite sides of the said aperture, and a tongue extending through the said aperture and having a pivot securedbetween the inner and outer sides of the belt, said tongue cooperating with the outer buckle loop and the portion of the belt between the loops constituting a vflexible buckle body.

5. A flexible buckle belt, comprising a belt having a buckle end split longitudinally to provide inner and outer portions, the outer portion being provided with an aperture, inner and outer oblong loops secured between the inner and outer portions of the belt and spaced apart and projecting outwardly from the outer face of the belt to form openings for the insertion of the other end of the belt, and a tongue extending through the said aperture and having a pivot secured between the inner and outer portions of the belt, said tongue cooperating with the outer buckle loop and the portion of the belt Vbetween the loops constituting a flexible buckle body portion.
