In dispensing round objects, such as lifesavers and the like candy confection, it has been found that these articles, when confined in a vertical dispensing cabinet, roll therefrom if slightly jarred and as this is the type of cabinet which the dealer most prefers, it is an objectionable feature. Applicant has perfected a dispensing cabinet wherein the bottom article is caused to roll slightly back of a center line drawn through the following articles, and as a result the article next to be dispensed is effectively held through the weight of the following articles.

In the accompanying drawing wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of my invention, the numeral 5 designates a base having a vertical shaft 6 about which my cabinet rotates. My

series of containers, I preferably employ sliding plates 12, which plates may have advertising matter thereon if desired.

Referring now to Fig. 8 it will be noted that the distance between the back of the container and the transparent face is substantially equal to that of the width of the article to be dispensed and that near the. bottom of the container I have slightly curved the back portion as shown at A and I have placed a rod 13 just above the opening 14 through which the article is to be delivered, the result being that as the article, for instance the article B, reaches the position shown in Fig. 3, it will engage the rod 13 and as soon as the article C has been removed itwill be forced rearwardly so that its center line XX is back of the center line YY the center line of the remaining articles. Therefore, the weight of the articles resting upon the article to be dispensed being forward of its center line, will effectively hold the article against movement until it has been forcibly removed. Thus as each article descends in the container it will be moved back of the center line of the remaining articles through the contact with the rod 13.

It will thus be seen that I have produced a device which is very simple and yet will produce all the objects above set forth.

It is to be understood that the form of my invention herewith shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same and that various changes relative to the material, size, shape and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the subjoiiied claim.

Having thus described my invention, I

claim I11 dispensing cabinet, a substantially U- shaped receptacle, a face plate secured. to said receptacle, the cross sectional area of said receptacle between said face plate and said U-shaped member being substantially the same as the article being dispensed, a discharge opening formed in the lower end of said face plate, an enlarged portion formed in said receptacle at a point opposite the discharge opening, and a rod positioned in said receptacle at a point adjacent and above said discharge opening whereby the article next to be dispensed is moved rearwardly in said receptacle.
