This invention relates to aquariums, and

has for an object toprovide an aquarium including an integral container .and improved type of supporting base.

A further Object of the invention is to provide an aquarium having an improved type of integral container, with illuminating dome therein, and a base for supporting the same. Y

A further object of the invention is to provide a base for an aquarium comprising a table structure having an illuminating element therein, with uprights having guidew'ays, anda container fitting and sliding in the guideways and provided witha dome for covering the illuminating element. f V v The invention therefore comprises a base constructed as a table, or the like, having upstanding posts arranged thereon, with the grooves or guideways therein, and with an illuminating element extending upwardly through an opening in the table and with an integral transparent container fitting and sliding in the guideways of the post, and provided in its bottom with a dome fitting over and covering the illuminating element.

As shown in the drawings, at Figures 1 to 4: inclusive, this forms a triangular base 10, but the inven- 55 tion is not limited to such triangular form. About the margin of the table 10, an upstanding rib 11 is provided, forming a de-- pression, conforming ingeneral shape to the shape of the base. The posts are provided with vertically disposed grooves or guideways 13, and the posts themselves may be of any con struction found desirable. As shown in the drawings, the posts are indicated as of hollow construction, and under some conditions, this willbe found an approved type and may, if constructed of transparent or translucent material, be used for containing an illuminatv ing element. r I V Through the bottom of the table 10, an opening 14 is provided, and an illuminating element indicated at 15 as an electric bulb is inserted therethrough. This illuminating elementmay be supported therein and thereby raised to predetermined; height above the level of the table in any approved manner. As shown, a socket 16 is provided, supported by a strap 17, and as shown at Figure 4, cut-outs 18 permit theinsertion therethrough oftongues 19, carried at the extremities of the strap. By inserting through these cutouts 18 and giving a partial turn, the illuminatingelement will be p retained in position. I i V The container is preferably an integral structure as shown'at 20 and will, of course, to function properly as an aquarium, be transparent. At the present time, of course, the container would be understood as being constructed of glass. In the bottom, and
